2 26th ANNUAL CONFERENCE OVERVIEW The Annual Conference of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. will continue a 26th year history of convening their global chapter network to deliver service, education, community empowerment and group mentoring. The annual meeting also provides the opportunities for chapters to share best practices with other youth-based organizations. The 100 Black Men have used their conferences for public discourse and advocacy around issues facing African American youth, their families and the communities in which they live. The 2012 conference will bring together leaders from business, education, health and wellness, entertainment, government and the nonprofit community with global members of the 100, their mentees and the Collegiate 100. The 26th Annual Conference will attract thousands of local and visiting attendees while generating an estimated $4.5 million dollars into the Atlanta economy. (Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau). The four metro Atlanta Chapters and the World Headquarters are working as ONE to bring a very unique, exciting, multi-generational conference to Atlanta. Click here now to view promo video. Community Empowerment Program The thousands of visitors attending the weekend of activities will also be able to participate in the 100 s community outreach event on Saturday, June 16, This annual Community Empowerment Program (CEP) was created by the 100 Black Men to empower the local community where the conference is being held. The goal is to leave a lasting legacy by establishing partnerships and programs that chapters build upon in the days, months and years following each conference. This year s event is designed to bring the Atlanta community together as ONE to educate parents, while inspiring youth, on STEM careers and the preparation required to succeed in STEM related fields. This community-focused initiative will deliver a half day of FREE activities that are open to the public. Free health screening include: diabetes, teen pregnancy, HIV-AIDS and dental. A robotics showcase will bring hundreds of youth to downtown Atlanta to display robots they created in youth mentoring programs from across Georgia. The leadership from 100 Black Men, members from local chapters, Collegiate 100, volunteers, partners, and sponsors will come together as ONE to give back to the Atlanta community. Metro Atlanta Chapters Members and youth from each chapter will be hosting and participating in events throughout the week. Presidents from each chapter will be available for interviews. To learn more about the mentoring work of each chapter, click on the chapter logo and visit their websites.
