How to use 1. For best results use on a pre-cleaned surface with the cleaning detergent fully rinsed. 2. Apply Super Q for the recommended contact time using the preferred method of application. (see microbiological data) 3. Allow to air dry How to use Working surfaces and floors Spray or swab with a solution of 25ml of Super Q per 5litres of water (0.5%v/v = 500ppm Active QAC) Processing equipment and cages Spray or swab with a solution of 25ml of Super Q per 5litres of water (0.5%v/v = 500ppm Active QAC) Soak treatment of items Soak in a tank containing 25ml of Super Q per 10 litres of water (0.25%v/v = 250ppm Active QAC) Store of swabs & brushes etc. Store in a solution of 25ml of Super Q per 5litres of water (0.5%v/v = 500ppm Active QAC) Fogging of rooms fog a solution of 150ml of Super Q per 5litres of water (3%v/v = 3000ppm Active QAC) Dunk Tanks fill a solution of 50ml of Super Q per 5litres of water (1%v/v = 1000ppm Active QAC)

The Twin Chain Quaternary Ammonium Compound (QAC for short) used in has superior overall germicidal activity as compared with the standard quaternaries. The QAC has been found to be more biologically active in a wide range of tests and under use-conditions generally considered detrimental to the performance of quaternaries. A summary of the unique advantages of this QAC is given below:- 1. Greater germicidal efficiency against Staphylococcus, Salmonella choleraesuis and Pseudomonas. 2. Maintains germicidal activity to a substantial degree in the presence of anionics. 3. Hard water tolerance is exceedingly high. 4. Very high phenol coefficients. 5. Maintains greater bactericidal activity in the presence of organic matter. 6. A superior bacteriostat. 7. Outstanding fungistat and fungicide. 8. Fast bactericidal activity. 9. Highly surface active. 10. Toxicity comparable to standard quaternaries. The data to substantiate these advantages is presented below. 1. Germicidal Activity The maximum dilution effective for disinfection is given by the AOAC Use-Dilution Test. Here, contaminated dried Penicillin cups are submerged in the disinfectant solution for exactly 10 minutes, and then transferred to a recovery medium. 2. Residual Anionic Tolerance Quaternaries are cationic surface active agents and are deactivated by anionic surface active agents with the formation of an insoluble anionic-cationic complex. has a high tolerance to anionics. An AOAC Use-Dilution Test, which is described above on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria at 400 p.p.m. was performed on the QAC in the presence of 300 p.p.m. sodium lauryl sulphate. The product passed the test. This characteristic of maintaining bactericidal activity in the presence of low dilutions of anionics is important because residual amounts of anionics are often present in hard surface disinfection applications.

3. Hard Water Tolerance The germicidal activity of quaternaries decreases in the presence of hard water. 10 has an unprecedented tolerance to hard water as measured by the AOAC Germicidal and Detergent Sanitiser Method. Exposure to 100 million organisms of Escherichia coli to 200 p.p.m. of active QAC for 30 seconds at 25oC in 1,500 p.p.m. of water hardness results in the reduction of % of the bacteria. 4. Phenol Coefficients The phenol coefficient test is the ratio of the killing dilution of the test disinfectant with the killing dilution of phenol under standard conditions within 10 minutes. The following are representative phenol coefficients for the QAC on an anhydrous basis at 20oC. 5. Organic Matter Tolerance QAC's tend to lose their bactericidal activity in the presence of organic matter. Phenol coefficients on Staphylococcus aureus in the presence of 5% and 10% blood serum demonstrates the maintenance of a high percentage of the QAC's bactericidal activity. AOAC Use-dilution tests at 400 p.p.m. concentration in the presence of 5% blood serum were also passed by the QAC. 6. Bactericidal Efficiency The extremely rapid germicidal activity of 10 is demonstrated in the bactericidal efficiency test. This tube-dilution test determines the minimum concentration of QAC which will reduce the count of a bacterial suspension by at least % from a level of 100 million organisms per ml in 30 seconds at 25oC.

ACTION AGAINST LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE (Legionella pneumophila) Various concentrations of 10 were tested against Legionella by adding 0.5 ml of the bacterial culture to 4.5 ml of the test solution. Fifteen and 120 minutes after addition of the bacterial suspension, the tubes were centrifuged and the pellet resuspended in Charcoal Yeast Extract broth (CYE). The resultant suspension was then both plated out onto CYE agar and also transferred to CYE broth and incubated at 36oC. All tests were carried out in duplicate and a control of sterile water was used. The results are given as follows (0 = no growth, + = growth). The result of the duplicate count of the controls was 60 x 106 and 55 x 106 giving an average count of 57 x 106/ml. Conclusion: 10 is bactericidal against the Legionnaires' disease bacillus at a dilution of 16 p.p.m. in 15 minutes contact and 8 p.p.m. after 120 mins contact. 7. Against Fungi Performance

8. Virucidal Properties Viricidal activity of the Quaternary at 700 p.p.m. active concentration was evaluated on the basis of titre reduction of virus/qac mixture (residual virus) compared with a control virus suspension. The results are given as follows:- (+) If there is an inactivation of more than 99.9% of the virus (that is, a reduction of 103TCID50 tissue culture infecting dose 50%). (+_) If there is an inactivation from 99 to 99.9% of the virus (that is, a reduction between 2 and 3 logarithms). (-) If there is an inactivation of less than 99% of the virus (that is, a reduction inferior to 2 logarithms). ACTION AGAINST HEPATITIS B Viricidal activity of the Quaternary at two concentrations have been determined. Super Q shows an excellent viricidal activity at a concentration of 1250 ppm available QAC and 120 minutes contact time both in water and with high organic content. At 2500 ppm available QAC and 30 minutes contact time the same excellent results were shown in both water and high organic content. ACTION AGAINST NEWCASTLE DISEASE After 5 minutes contact time and at 250 ppm available QAC the quaternary gave excellent results. ACTION AGAINST VACCINAL After 10 minutes contact time and at 250 ppm available QAC the quaternary gave excellent results. ACTION AGAINST GRIPPAL PR8 After 5 minutes contact time and at 250 ppm available QAC the Quaternary gave excellent results. ACTION AGAINST HIV-1 (HSV) Viricidal activity of the Quaternary at two concentrations have been determined. Super Q shows an excellent viricidal activity at a concentration of 10% v/v and 30 minutes contact time. At 1% for 30 min it did not pass the test requirements

Hazards Irritant Health & Safety Irritating to eyes & Skin. Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes holding the eyelids open. Seek medical attention if irritation or symptoms persist. DO NOT INGEST Please refer to material safety Data Sheet for full health & safety information.
