2 Dear Parents, Summer Vacations are here and its time to relax at home from the scorching heat, we hope that our kids would enjoy their vacation time and learn through their surroundings and experiences. SUMMER SAFARI (holiday project) serves various educational needs. It serves as an intellectual discipline, establishes study habits, eases time constraints, supplements and reinforces work done in school. In addition, it fosters student initiative, independence, responsibility and brings nature, home and school together. Playing in gardens and parks always bring joy for little kids; at the same time they can prove to be a great learning source. Bring your child close to nature and let him/her learn different concepts through nature.take your child for a nature walk. Make sure that your child accompanies you while going to the super market, mother dairy etc. Show different vegetables and fruits and ask him/her to identify and pick up whatever they want to eat. Children must learn to help themselves by laying the dining table, eating with spoon, keeping the things at proper place, etc. Let your child help you in doing some basic activities..

3 Converse with your child in English and develop a habit of speaking proper sentences. How are you? I am fine, Thank you. I am thirsty. Please give me water. I am hungry. Please give me food. I have finished my work / food Enjoy the following activities during the holidays Learn to open /close your tiffin /bag (without help). Learn to fold your napkin./handkerchief. Practice colouring. Germinate seeds in a small pot, water them daily and observe them grow into a plant. Label the pot and bring it to school after vacations..

4 Activity 1 My Treasure Trove: Scrap File Scrap file activity is a great way to capture memories and kids love to look back at memories. They recall best when they keep seeing the same thing again and again. This personal scrap file will help them gather and record all fun filled activities. Page 1&2: Start things off with a title page that includes child s name, photo and a craft work by using your imagination. Now include the following Page no 3 and 4: Enjoy the rides in autoricksahaw, metro etc and visit places like zoo, museum, parks etc. Collect ticket and paste them and give heading JOYFUL RIDES.

5 Page no 5 and 6: Socio-Emotional development plays a role in the life of every child as it teaches him/her to bond, share and appreciate. Encourage the child to give, share and involve the underprivileged in his/her daily activities and click pictures and paste it in a scrap file. *Bring the scrap file back to school after vacation.

6 Activity 2 Foot Print T-Shirt Make this cute keepsake of the child s feet on a t-shirt! This is sure to be one cherished souvenir for life. Material Required- Fabric Paint (any colour) Plain T-shirt (any) A flat painting brush Newspaper Marker (black) How to do- Place a sheet of newspaper inside the T-shirt. Lay the T-shirt on a flat surface. Paint the soles of your child s feet with yellow fabric paint and take impression on both the sides of T-shirt. Dilute the paint with water if required. Help your child to write HAPPY FEET at the bottom of T-shirt. Children will wear the T-shirt to school (the date will be intimated through circular)

7 Activity 3 Matte Magic Meal time is an important time for all preschoolers as they adopt many healthy habits and eating etiquettes during that time. Objective: To make a table mat with healthy habits and eating etiquettes. Resources : Cut out Material Required: A4 size pastel sheet (any colour), glue, crayons, poster colour and vegetables (lady finger, bitter gourd) I:nstructions: Step 1: Make a border with vegetable printing on one side of the A4 pastel sheet using poster colour. Step 2: Cut the cut out of fork, knife, spoon, napkin, plate, glass from pg no. and paste them on the sheet as shown in the picture. Step 3: Now one side of your mat is ready. Step 4: On the other side of the sheet make a similar border. Step 5: Paste your favourite cartoon Step 6: Decorate it Step 7: Label the mat and get it laminated.

10 Activity 5 YOUNG CHILDREN AND PICTURE BOOKS The picture book contributes much more than something to do during a hurried story time. Ideally, children learn to love literature through joyful encounters with picture books shared with them by enthusiastic adults. Therefore, in order to cultivate imagination and introduce reading habits at an early age, spend some quality time and let's create a small picture book with your child and help him/her to enjoy the story in the book. Let's contribute one labeled picture book for the class library after vacation.
