Applications are invited for the following post: LECTURER/SENOR LECTURER NSTTUTE OF CHLDHOOD AND EDUCATON Primary Education (Early Reading and Writing focus) (1.0FTE) Salary in the range 31,342 to 42,067 per annum This post represents part of a significant investment in the new nstitute of Childhood and Education. Leeds Trinity has a proud tradition of working in Teacher Education but in recent years has significantly grown other aspects of its work with children, young people and families and now wants to build on this to become one of the leaders in this field, delivering outstanding research that informs both policy and practice and develops exceptional graduates. We are seeking to recruit an academic member of staff to teach and contribute to further strengthening our nitial Teacher Education (TE) provision. The particular focus of the post will be teaching (Early reading and writing, communication development) and moderating students practice on our TE courses as well as contributing to partnership developments and professional studies. Applicants must have a strong academic background and significant practitioner experience. Relevant professional experience of teaching children and/or successful experience of teaching within higher education directly relevant to Teacher Education are also important. The successful candidate will teach initially on the Primary Education programme mainly covering early reading and writing and the teaching of systematic synthetic phonics. They should be able to contribute also to future postgraduate provision that is now under development. Please note that this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. 5 The nstitute of Childhood and Education Leeds Trinity has recently invested in the creation of a new nstitute of Childhood and Education (CE), which brings together the staff from Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) and Teacher Education (Primary and Secondary). Our Purpose As members of The nstitute of Childhood and Education at Leeds Trinity University we bring together considerable expertise from teacher education and the wider workforce with a strong knowledge base in children and families. With improving the lives of children and young people at the heart of our mission we draw together teams of experts from early years, primary and secondary education, social and behavioural sciences, and social care dedicated to realising this commitment. The nstitute runs a BA in Primary Education, with strands in early and later years that lead to qualified teacher status. Primary and secondary school post-graduate programmes also lead to qualified teacher status. The nstitute supports professional development of teachers through its Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) and MA in Education programmes. There are thriving partnerships with schools to contribute to schools based education. Additionally, there are three single honours BA (Hons) programmes; Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies and Working with Children, Young People and Families. The nstitute also runs a foundation degree portfolio which has a strong connection to BA programme subject content. The foundation degree strands are Supporting Early Years, Supporting Learning and Supporting Children and Families in Social Contexts. The foundation degree offers progression to Professional Practice top-up degrees that have full time as well as part time routes. The nstitute is looking to develop its CPD portfolio, which already includes the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification. To undertake lecturing across a range of programmes and levels in the nstitute of Childhood and Education. 2.
