3 Nokia Asset Recovery Service offers resource-efficient network modernization Nokia Global Asset Recovery and Remarketing services are a costeffective answer to the challenges of resource-efficient operations and network modernization. Nokia takes on the responsibility of refurbishing, reusing, selling or recycling operator s equipment during network upgrades or expansions, helping the operator to meet international environmental standards while optimizing their CAPEX and OPEX. 3

4 The Challenge / Opportunity: Maximizing the value of aging equipment As networks have become more complex, the pressure to reduce capital investements and operational costs at all points in the hardware ownership lifecycle has grown. Maximizing the the value of aging or obsolete equipment in an environmentally responsible way is increasingly important. But many network operators don t have the skills or resources to do the necessary work themselves. That s where Nokia comes in. With their Asset Recovery service, Nokia takes on the responsibility of retrieving the maximum value from the customer s old equipment. Nokia refurbishes the equipment if appropriate, or they sell or recycle it responsibly if the equipment has reached the end of its life. 4

7 1,713 tons of e-waste recycled in 2014 Operators around the world are deploying Nokia Asset Recovery services. Nokia s aim is to recover the material and energy content of obsolete products to ensure safe treatment of obsolete products in responsible and sustainable manner. A small number of reputable recycling contractors treat everything from components to entire products, recycling materials where possible and disposing of hazardous waste responsibly.
