2 Last year a project on developing pupil ownership of a unit of work in RE whilst developing enquiry and higher order problem solving with an able Year 6 class. From January 2014 a project on developing pupil confidence when working with the medium of drama in RE with a Year 4 class firstly then to be joined by a Year 2 class.
3 This took over a term s worth of RE lessons Pupils were given the unit title and then had to develop their own aims and learning methods which would meet the needs of the whole class. Their work had to be purposeful and show a breath of learning from AT1 and At2 as well as a range of religions

7 We recorded and transcribed the P4C and decided we had discussed the following; Results of the theological concepts and values covered by peer learning. Forgiveness Fact or fiction, outdated or current Free will and temptation Heaven and hell Jesus the Messiah The Apocalypse God s love for humankind Choosing to follow your belief, servant Rebirth and fresh starts Supersition The soul Life after death Guardian angels This was a fantastic opportunity to prove to the children the value of enquiry based learning.
8 Grill a Christian Year 6 interviewing Andrea and Pippa from Frodsham Methodist Church. Do you believe everything in the Bible? Do you think God is an instinct rather than a faith? How do you feel about the apocalypse? What one word sums up Christianity? Have you always been a Christian? What is your view on creation? How do you know what to say in a prayer? If God ended this world, would he love us enough to build another? Did you choose to work for the church because your belief was so strong or because God told you? Do you believe in an Angel of Darkness or dark forces? Do you believe in Guardian Angels? If you changed religion which would you pick? 8

11 Regular evaluations over the next four sessions followed with some whole class feedback. I feel responsible for my own learning and the project as a whole. (Approx 95% agree) I have developed my own RE thinking through these sessions (80% agree) I have developed my deep thinking skills (75% agree) I have learnt from other peers or visitors to the class (95% agree) I have enjoyed the tasks which I have done (90% agree) My social / team work skills have developed through this project (95% agree) This project has met my learning styles for RE (100% agree)
12 In a way,yes. He helps people with their problems by listening to their prayers. However I don t think he created the world. He rules Heaven and keeps everything under control. 13 How do I imagine Heaven? I think Heaven is above the overcast clouds. Perfect white clothes and beautiful white walls. Heaven is a lovely place where white candyfloss is the trademark of everything. Abbi A normal place where you are dead. Iestyn I imagine Heaven to be amazing and you get what you want there. Thomas It is a black eternity. Robert It is a happy place where people s souls live in angel s bodies, where they serve God but live their own lives. With the clouds as their floor and an everstaying sunset as the sky. Alex. A big cloud in the sky where you can look down. Sam I think Heaven is a paradise in a cloud where you stay forever. Kayleigh I imagine Heaven to be a calm, serene place full of good souls. Hattie Soft clouds that you can walk on. Everyone looks after each other. Graziela. 13
