2 Eurasia Rail: 3 rd Rolling Stock, Infrastructure and Logistics Exhibition Post Show Report WORLD S THIRD BIGGEST RAILWAY EXHIBITION: EURASIA RAIL March 2013 in the Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) there was organized the world s third biggest exhibition in its field, Eurasia Rail: 3 rd Rolling Stock, Infrastructure and Logistics Exhibition. At the exhibition there were more than 17 thousand professional visitors from 22 countries and 287 exhibitor companies from 25 different countries. At the exhibition TCDD (Turkish State Railways) and its subsidiary corporations including TÜVASAŞ (Turkish Wagon Industry Inc.), TÜDEMSAŞ (Turkish Railway Machines Industry Inc.), and TÜLOMSAŞ (Turkish Locomotive and Engine Industry Inc.) presented innovations related to wagons of the Turkish railways, locomotives, railway technologies produced by the local manufactures within the railway sector. The official opening ceremony of 3 rd Eurasia Rail Exhibition was made by Mr. Binali Yıldırım, Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications with Mr. Mario Garces, Undersecretary from Ministry of Transport in Spain. Among other ministers that attended the exhibition were: Benoit Schmitt, Executive Director for Europe & Africa of Deutsche Bahn from Germany, Vaselin Vasilev, General Director of Railway Administration Executive Agency from Bulgaria, Rafie Yousif Abbas, General Director of Iraq State Railways, Enis Berisha, General Director of Kosovo Railway Regulatory Authority, Jerry Kleniewski, Counsellor to the Minister of Poland Ministry of Transport, Arion Adrian, General Director of Romania State Railways and many other burocrats from Ministries of Transport and State Railways from neighboring countries attended. Many industry giants from Turkey and worldwide attended the exhibition including SIEMENS, ANSALDO STS, ALSTOM, BOMBARDIER, VOSSLOH, THALES, CAF, TALGO, SCHNEIDER, KNORR BREMSE, WEBASTO, VOITH TURBO, SAVRONIK, KARDEMİR, GENERAL ELECTRIC TRANSPORTATION, ULAŞIM AŞ, HYUNDAI ROTEM, ABB next to national pavilion participation from Germany, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of China and Poland. The Durmazlar Company, which in the last year for the first time was presented to the world press for its own manufactured tramway Silkworm, Turkey s first 100 % local product was exhibited for this time at the Eurasia Rail Exhibition. Hyundai Rotem Company presented for the first time the wagons that would be used for carrying passengers within the MARMARAY project. Siemens Company presented the products and solutions not only for the manufacturing of vehicles but also signaling and electrification solutions. For this Siemens had prepared a presentation called REcube which was showed during the period of exhibition. In comparison with the first edition of the Eurasia Rail Exhibition now the exhibition had increased with 40 % and in this year there were presented 287 companies, among them 117 were Turkish companies and 170 were international companies. Eurasia Rail Exhibition, which is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and Turkish Railways (TCDD), in June 2012, received the approval of UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry). At the same time in September 2012, the exhibition proved to be on the international market as the first exhibition in Turkey to give financial support to German exhibitors as approved by German government. The fact that during the exhibition there are organized different seminars and conferences with the participation of foreign companies attracted the attention of the world press regarding this field of industry.

3 At the exhibition such companies like the Spanish company OHL, Alarko, Astaldi, Hyundai Rotem which invested in the world s second biggest undersea project Marmaray, project of 5 billion dollars that were launched on 29 October, 2013 were also be present at the exhibition. At the 2012 edition of the Eurasia Rail Exhibition TCDD signed contract of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq and Bulgaria in such a way the exhibition represented a good opportunity of developing the international collaboration relations regarding the strengthening the local railway industry. At 2013 edition of Eurasia Rail, there were already prepared several agreements about to be signed both in the state and private sector of the field, so the exhibition was officially visited by 15 delegations. The fourth edition of EURASIA RAIL will take place between March 2014 at Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Istanbul, Turkey. Up to 2023, 50 billion dollars of investments will be made to transportation sector and 25 billion dollars will be spared for the Turkish Rail Roads. Until 2023, Ministry of Transport is planning to build km of fast tracks and km of conventional tracks to be in service. Marmaray is the second important submarine railway tunnel in the world. Uninterrupted railway transportation facility will come alive after the completion of construction of Marmaray Project between London and China. The transfer to Block Train Transportation for freight and with such practice the freight potential were raised 58 % since 2002 and revenues provided by freight transportation has increased 170 %. Turkey is becoming the strongest Rolling Stock Market within its neighbors and its region by the investments already made.
