JACK & COMPANY CATERING PRESENTS JACK'S LUNCH BOX School Lunch Program

"Healthy Food for Hungry Minds!" Jack & Company Catering prides itself on using only the freshest of ingredients, particularly for the children it provides lunch for on a daily basis. Lunch served fresh everyday! Blair Rathwell, owner/operator and head chef of Jack's Lunch Box, truly enjoys bringing the kids, who affectionately deem him, "The Lunch Man," their homemade, nutritious meals. Blair has spent the last decade in the food industry where he has managed highly successful restaurants. With a high level of customer service, food quality and team building experience under his belt, Blair quickly excelled in the hospitality industry. However, while managing these exceptionally busy and competitive restaurants, Blair found himself spending less and less time with his family. With a dream of being an entrepreneur and spending more time with his wife and two small children, Blair jumped when an opportunity was presented to him with a need of a lunch program at a local elementary school. Parents complained of the current franchise hot lunch program, as the meals offered on the menu were found to lack freshness and seemed to be a complete waste of money. They stated that they were urgently looking for a school lunch program to offer healthy, nutritious, affordable and kidapproved meals.

Vision Jack's Lunch Box was the answer: affordable, homemade meals that are prepared fresh each day. The vision of Jack's Lunch Box is to ease the burden on parents of preparing quality, wholesome and nutritious lunches for their children by providing the convenient and affordable option of ordering such lunches and having them delivered to school. In order for children to succeed academically, it is of the upmost importance that lunches consumed provide young bodies with the proper nutrition to fuel their body and mind. Meal Preparation All of the children's meals are made fresh and cooked each morning. Everything that can be prepared in house, definitely is, including: all sauces, spice blends, rolls and desserts. We only use fresh cheeses, whole breads and pasta, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. Each recipe is designed for kids, therefore each menu item is simple, yet flavourful. Our meals are cooked using conventional ovens, stove top and grilling. Please note that there are no fried foods on our menu. To ensure the safety of our children, all recipes are nut free!

Our Facility Our facility is inspected by the Peterborough County Health Unit and we take pride in maintaining a clean, safe work environment. We are certified food handlers who are knowledgable in practicing safe food handling and food temperatures for our children. How it Works 1. Once a school has decided to have Jack's Lunch Box within their facility, a mutual decision, between the school and Jack's Lunch Box, as to when the lunches will be available, must be agreed upon. 2. A menu is then specially created for the students and faculty members (teachers are hungry too). Paper copies of the menu and order forms will be printed and given to the teachers to hand out to the children to send home to the parents. 3. Once the children have selected their meals and parents have filled out their order forms, students are asked to return their order form by specified due date along with payment (either cash or cheque payable to Jack & Company Catering). 4. Every classroom will be provided with an envelope to keep order forms and payments returned by families. The teacher is asked to drop off all orders in a designated box set up in a common, safe area (often the school office or staff room). 5. Lunches will be delivered approximately 10 minutes before the start of lunch/nutrition break time by a staff member of Jack's Lunch Box. Lunches will be separated by class in individual bins and will be delivered to an agreed upon pick-up/drop-off common area. 6. It is requested that once lunches are handed out, a student or teacher return each bin to 'Jack's Lunch Box' staff member in the designated pick-up/drop-off common area.

Policies Cancellations 1. Cancellations are accepted until 7:00 a.m. by or phone for same day orders. Please leave a detailed or voice message including your child's name, school, grade and teacher and the day of the cancellation. We're sorry, we cannot accept cancellations received after 7:00 a.m. 2. Lunches which cannot be cancelled can be picked up from school at lunch time. Please call Jack & Company Catering to let us know that you will be picking up the lunch. Any lunches NOT picked up at lunch time will be returned to Jack & Company Catering. 3. Payments made by cheque only (not cash) will have a credit towards a cancelled lunch to use towards future orders. (No refunds) 4. The school does not notify us of field trips or other special events. This is the responsibility of the parents. If the lunch is not cancelled, the parents will be charged. 5. Menus can be completed and submitted to the 'Jack's Lunch Box' Drop Box in the school. The Drop Box is only cleared at lunch time on the days we service your school. Please allow for 3 days to process orders. 6. Orders must be received by 10:00 a.m. the day before you wish to order lunch (on Friday for Monday). 7. For any assistance required in completing order forms, please contact Blair at or by phone ( ). Payment 9. We will not be responsible for missing cash payments. 10. Orders without sufficient payment will not be processed. 11. A fee of $15 will be charged for NSF cheques.
