Put the cartridge in its place and close the lid Position the cartridge so that the label is pointing up 6. Feed and cut the tape. 3 Display settings 1. Backlighting. Turn backlighting on by pressing the Shift and Light Key buttons (backlighting is turned off by pressing the Shift + Light keys buttons again) OR 2. Display. Press the Light or Dark buttons. Continue pressing buttons until the backlighting level is suitable Turning the backlighting off helps the batteries to last longer. Graphics preview settings Press the Shift and Preview Graphic buttons simultaneously. You can monitor the creation of the labels on the screen. The length/image will be displayed before printing. Name Address Phone Address Phone Before printing, press the Graphic button to see the label s print preview. You can check the contents, composition and correct typing errors already before printing. 3

4 Handy button tips (Delete) (Shift/Delete) (Arrow keys) This button can be used during any function to cancel the selection or to go back to the previous selection. The Escape button can also stop printing. Device information can be deleted by pressing the Shift button with the Delete button. The text Remove text Yes? Will be displayed on the screen. Press return. You can move between different selections and view options by using arrow keys. (return) Make a selection with this button Start a new line with this button Additional information: if you want to remove everything for Patch, Wrap and Flag labels, continue pressing the return button when all selections are displayed until the device has returned to the original label. 4

5 Instructions for easy label creation Number 1 (meaning the first line) should be displayed as well as a blinking cursor. Type the date. Don t go back. Press the Graphic button and check the spelling. Press the Print button. In case you re using a tape that s 3 mm or wider, the corners of the label can be neatly rounded by using the PeelGuard cutter, which can be found on the right side of the printer. 5

6 Using the PeelGuard cutter This feature helps you create stylish labels that will not peel off. 9 mm, 12 mm and 18 mm Rounds one corner at a time 1. Place one side of the label in the right or left slot on the PeelGuard cutter; and push the label as far in as possible. 2. Pull the label out when you can hear several clicks from the device. 3. Place the other side of the label into the slot and round the corner in a similar manner. 24 mm Rounds two corners simultaneously 1. Place both label corners against the PeelGuard cutter and push the label in as afar as possible. 2. Pull the label out when you can hear several clicks from the device. 3. Repeat for the other corners of the label. Congratulations! You have now created your first professional label. 6

7 Changing the font Use the Font button Select the suitable font by repeatedly pressing the Font button until the required font is displayed. The fonts are displayed in the following order: Roman Tip: the graphic display will change depending on the selected font. Changing the size of the text Type the text Use the Text Size button Press the Text Size button repeatedly until the required size is displayed. The text size of the graphic display will also change. The text sizes of a line: The text size of the line where the cursor is will be displayed on the right side of the display. Tip: the graphic display will change depending on the required text size. 7

8 Two lines with two different text sizes (Can also be used on three or four lines depending on the size of the tape) KROKO SKRIVARE On line 1, type KROKO and press the Return button On line 2, type KIJROITIN and press the Return button Press the Text Size button until the required size an style is displayed. Preview by pressing the Graphic Preview button before printing. Press the Print button Text alignment KROKO 8 On line 1, type KROKO Press the Edit button Using the arrow keys, press the Alignment and Return buttons. Select Centred and press the Return button Select the area (the whole tape) and press the Return button. Preview by pressing the Graphic Preview button before printing. Press the Print button Vertical label On line 1, type KROKO Press the Edit button Using the arrow keys, go to the vertical printing section and press the Return button Using the arrow keys, select the ON button and press the Return button Select the area (the whole tape) and press the Return button. (Check the end result with the preview for any finishing touches to the vertical label). Left Centered Right Vertical printing OFF ON

9 Margins Press the Edit button and use the arrow keys to move to the margins. Adjust the left and right margins of the label. Ensure that the text is in the centre of the label Margin settings help to save tape. KROKO enables to save tape in various different ways without compromising the visual balance of the labels. Minimum Cuts a shorter starting tape; there will be a 1 mm edge on either side of the text KROKO Short Cuts a shorter starting tape; there will be a 3 mm edge on either side of the tape KROKO Medium Will not cut a starting tape; there will be a 10 mm edge on either side of the tape KROKO Long Will not cut a starting tape; there will be a 18 mm edge on either side of the tape KROKO Tape width/3 Cuts a shorter starting tape. After this, the edge will be automatically adjusted to be the smallest possible for this width of tape used. The edge comprises about a third of the width of the tape. For example, when using the 24 mm tape, the edge is 8 mm. KROKO Tape width: The edge will be defined on the basis of the width of the tape used. In case the tape width is 24 mm, the edge is 24 mm. KROKO Additional information: you can easily check edge settings in the preview. 9

10 10 Patch Panel Panel A Can be used for printing the same text. For example, if all labels are single digit labels (1, 2, 3), or double digit labels (A1, B1, C1, D1) or up to five digit labels, a maximum of ten labels can be added to the device simultaneously. The sample will print four labels one inch apart with the text on the image. A1-01 A1-02 A1-03 A1-04 Select 9 mm tape. Select Patch Panel, Panel A, and press the Return button. Select Length 5 cm, and press the Return button. Type Sticker 1 A1-01 and press the Return button. Type Sticker 2 A1-02 and press the Return button. Type Sticker 3 A1-03 and press the Return button. Type Sticker 4 A1-04 and press the Print button. Panel B This is used for printing similar data when the number or the letter must be printed on the label in consecutive order. Additional information: you can choose either a numeric or alphabetic range. A numeric range has been used in this example. A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 A9 A10 A11 A12 Select one 9 mm tape. Select Patch Panel, Panel B and press the Return button. Select length 3 cm and press the Return button. Type A to Sticker 1 and then press the Sequence button. Add 1 to begin with and press the Return button. Repeat: Select/time and press the Return button Sequence 2 number: Select On and press the Return button. After this, press the Extra button and select Repeat printing and press the Return button. Set 12 as the limit and press the Return button Finally, using the arrow keys, move to the Print? section and press the Return button.

11 Wrap label These labels can be wrapped around cables, for example; in both directions (vertically and horizontally). Vertical printing is intended for cable sticker use. Vertical wrap label 5 cm wrap label using a 24 mm tape Select one 24 mm tape. Select the Wrap label, vertical, and press the Return button. Select the length 5 cm and press the Return button. On line 1, type and press the Return button. On lines 2-10, type Please note: use the Symbol button to add numbers to the line especially when using narrower tapes, in which case the default setting is defined as double digits. Press the Return button. This action reduces the space of two numbers into the space of one number. Add two numbers. Press the Return button. Horizontal wrap label to be used together with a cable sticker. Select the cable sticker tape. Select Wrap label, horizontal and press the Return button. Type on label 1. (up to 20 digits and symbols can be typed on every label, and there can be a maximum of 10 labels) Press the Print button More labels can be printed either with the same text or another text: Server Firewall Printer Select the cable sticker tape. Select Wrap label, horizontal and press the Return button. Type on label 1 and press the Return button. Type Server on label 2. Type Firewall on label 3. Type Printer on label 4. Press the Preview button to get a preview before printing. Press the Print button. 11

12 Flagg-etikett Labels can be wrapped around cables in two different ways (vertically and horizontally). When using flag labels, the cable is attached to the middle of the label (printed line) and the label is folded in half. The same information is printed on either side of the label. 12 Vertikal flag In this example, we ll be creating a 7 cm vertical flag label using a 24 mm tape. Select a 24 mm tape. Select Flag, vertical and press the Return button. Select the length 7.5 cm and press the Return button. On line 1, type and press the Return button. On line 2, type and press the Return button. Press the Preview button to get a preview before printing. Press the Print button. Additional information: use the Symbol button to add numbers to the line especially when using narrower tapes, in which case the default setting is defined as double digits. Press the Return button. This action reduces the space of two numbers into the space of one number. Add two numbers. Additional information: the maximum permitted amount of lines is two, regardless of the length. Horizontal flag label Press the Preview button to get a preview before printing. Press the Print button. In this example, we ll be creating a 7.5 cm horizontal flag label using a 24 mm tape. Select a 24 mm tape. Select Flag, horizontal and press the Return button. Select the length 7.5 cm and press the Return button. On line 1, type and press the Return button. Repeat for lines 2 8.

13 Adding European/Latin symbols European and Latin characters can easily be added by pressing the Euro/Latin button. Ä cm mm Ä Ä Skriv Type A. Press the Euro/Latin button several times to select the character Ä, press A and then press the Return button. Or the next character. The arrow keys. can also be used for selecting the suitable character. Symbols and pictographs Symbols and pictographs make labels more interesting and more informative. You can easily select the suitable symbol by pressing the Symbol button or the Shift + Symbol buttons. Press the Shift button and the Symbol/Picto button simultaneously. Select Common icons using arrow keys and return. Select and press the icon of a phone with the forward-pointing arrow key button. and press the Return Add a space by pressing the space bar. Add the text Press the Preview/Graphic button to preview the label before printing. Press the Print button to print the label. 13

14 Heat shrinking settings Printing density adjustment Printing density can be adjusted on seven different levels. Adjust the printing density if the end result is too bright or too dark. In general, the 0 setting is used, but when using heat shrinking, the density can be increased by +3. Print settings Print brightness Autom. cutting Memory reset Print settings Hold the Shift button down and press the Setting/Extra button. The print settings will be displayed. Using the arrow keys, select the printing brightness and press the Return button. Using the arrow keys, select +3 and press the Return button. Autocut-setting KROKO automatically cuts the label after printing. This setting can also be turned off. Print settings Print brightness Autom. cutting Memory reset Autom. cutting ON OFF Hold the Shift button down and press the Setting/Extra button. The print settings will be displayed. Using the arrow keys, go to the Autom. cutting section and press the Return button. ON or OFF will be displayed. Ensure that ON has been selected and press the Return button. Turn the function off by repeating the stages described above, but change the setting to OFF. 14

15 Mirror printing Changes the image and text to a mirror image. This function is particularly useful when printing labels to be attached to glass. Works best when using clear tape. KROKO Extra-PrintING Repeat printing Mirror image printing Print? Mirror image printing ON OFF Add the text and press the Setting/Extra button. The Extra Printing menu will be displayed. Using the arrow keys, go to mirror image printing. Press the Return button. The setting ON or OFF will be displayed. Ensure that ON has been selected and press the Return button. Repeat the above-mentioned stages but select OFF for switching the function off. Print recall KROKO stores up to five recent printed label files in its memory. This function can be used when you need one more label; or if you should have stored a ready-made label into the device memory. File Print history Store Remove Print history Recall Remove Print event view: Press the Shift and Recall buttons. The File referring to the file will be displayed. Using the arrow keys, go to the printing history and press the Return button. The Printing history referring to printing events will be displayed. Using the arrow keys, go to Restore and press the Return button. Using the arrow keys, browse the labels. Return when you have found the right label. The display will ask you to confirm the search result (Restore OK?) and press the Return button. The label can now be printed! 15

16 Cleaning the print head The print head must be cleaned when the quality of printing decreases or in case an empty line is visible on the label. The quality of printing will decrease when there is dirt or dust in the print head. Rub the print head gently with a cotton bud dipped in alcohol (isopropyl).
