1 Product sheet GS7.61 Gas Detector Type Single Zone Gas Leak Detector are panel/wall mounted gas leak detectors for single zone. The RGA control unit has been designed and built according to European regulations to flexibly detect the presence of toxic and/or explosive gas, through the connection of a remote gas leak sensors (Natural Gas, LPG Gas or O). A microprocessor is used to create a complete monitoring and control system with maximum flexibility. Thanks to this and its other features is suitable for commercial applications, industrial use and for underground car parks. 2 SyxthSense Ltd Operation When the remote sensor detects the presence of the target gas a 4-20mA signal is sent to the detector, proportional to the level of gas. The then operates a pre-alarm relay -used for remote sirens or visua lindicators. If the level of gas continues to rise then the second pre-alarm is actuated. In the case of explosive gases, when the level of gas reaches 20%LEL, the main alarm relay is activated to break the electrical supply to the gas safety shut-off valve. The also has a separate volt-free sensor fault relay that actuates if the correct return signal is not sensed by the detector. The can be configured to detect explosive or toxic gases. The front panel has also two overload lights which indicate when a short circuit or an overload has occurred on the sensor wiring. It blinks for about 1 minute (warm up time) when the mains power is supplied. When ready, the LED stays on without blinking. During the initialisation the detector cannot detect the gas. 2).BATTERY LED. It lights up (permanently) when no mains power is present and the control unit is supplied by a 12Vdc battery. It blinks when the battery is flat. 3) BATTERY OVERLOAD LED. If this LED turns on, it means the battery is not connected properly,or it has an anomalous voltage absorption. 4) SENSOR OVERLOAD LED. If this LED turns on, it means there is a short circuit or high current absorption in the sensor, indicating either fault with wiring or with the sensor. 5) PRE- 1 LED. This LED will light up when the gas concentration level has reached 8% of LEL, or 120ppm (ref. O), and the Pre-Alarm 1 relay contact is closed. The relay disenergizes when the 13% of LEL, or 200ppm O, threshold is exceeded. 6) PRE- 2 LED. This LED will light up when the gas concentration level has reached 13% of LEL,or 200ppm (ref. O), and the Pre-Alarm 2 Relay is closed. The buzzer will issue a low frequency sound. The relay disenergizes when dropping below the 13% of LEL, or 200ppm O, threshold. 7) MAIN LED. This LED will light up when the gas concentration level has reached 20% of LEL, or 300ppm (ref. O), and the MAIN relay contact is closed. 8) LED. Indicates an alarm status i.e. explosive or toxic gas has been detected. 9) EXPLOSIVE GAS LED. If this LED is turned on, the sensor is set to detect explosive gases (Methane, LPG, etc.). 10) FAULT LED. This LED blinks when the connected sensors is faulty, if there is an interruption in the cable connection, or if an error was made during the wiring. 12) TOXI GAS LED. If this LED is turned on, the probe is set to detect toxic gas (arbon Monoxide). 12) PRE LEDs. These LEDs light up in sequence according to the environment gas concentration level increase. When the first LED turns on, the gas concentration level has reached8% of LEL and the 1st THRESHOLD relay contact is closed. When the second LED turns on, the gasconcentration level has reached 13% of LEL and the 2nd THRESHOLD relay contact is closed. If in OFF position the detector does not monitor (it is not necessary to remove the wires). Bit Switch 2: Selects the type of gas monitored. These are labelled as GAS or O. For Natural Gas, LPG Gas and Hydrogen move the bit switch to GAS position. For arbon Monoxide move the bit switch to O position. The front fascia of the detector refers to EN standard symbols for toxic (e.g. arbon Monoxide - O) or explosive gases (e.g. Natural Gas or LPG gas) and illuminates the appropriate LED. onfiguring Detector Mode Bit Switch 1: In position the intrinsic safety mode is activated that this determines the main alarm relay (i.e. gas valve) operation. This can be configured to provide either latching or a temporay alarm condition. In "" position the main alarm remains activated even after the concentration of gas has reduced below the alarm threshold. This should be normally selected for auto-reset gas valves. The alarm is reset by pressing "RESET2 button. If the switch is in the "I" position the main alarm relay will actuate for 60 seconds and then if the level of gas has dropped below the alarm threshold, the alarm relay returns to the normal operating state. The indication on the panel fascia and the audible alarm will still indicate main alarm. This mode of operation is used with manual reset gas valves and battery systems to extend the standby battery life. 5 SyxthSense Ltd You can connect various types of remote sensors (Natural Gas, LPG Gas, O) to this unit. Therefore, they should be positionedat different heights depending on the type of gas to be detected. Installation heights are: 30 cm from the lowest point of the floor in order to detect heavy gases (L.P.G. etc.) 30 cm from the highest point of the ceiling in order to detect light gases (Methane etc.) 160 cm from the lowest point of the floor in order to detect volatile gases (O, etc.) MOUNTING LEVELS OF GAS DETETORS Light gases (e.g. Natural Gas) Max 30 cm from ceiling Volatile gases (e.g. O) 160 cm from floor It is important to note that the remote sensors should be installed according to the following restrictions: Heavy gases (e.g. LPG) Max. 30 cm from floor 1) The sensors should not be placed near the appliances to be controlled (boilers, burners, industrial kitchens, etc.) but on the opposite side. 2) The sensors should not be affected by smoke, vapour, etc. as they could distort their measurement. 3) The sensors should not be placed near sources of heat, ventilators or fans.it should be noted that the internal sensors of the probe are perishable components with avariable average life span from 5 to 10 years (you can request the relative table). Therefore, after this period of time has elapsed it is advisable to check the fault LEDs regularly. Should these LEDs light up, a specialised technician must replace the sensor. 4) The sensors must be installed in correct way upwards, the sintered head pointing downwards. Switching Power to RGA-4004 Troubleshooting Before turning on the, check the connections have been made as illustrated in the diagrams shown on the relevant pages, and read the warnings carefully. 1) Apply power using the proper switch. This switch should be fitted with protection fuses. 2) You will notice that some LEDs will light up in turn for about 20 seconds to test the LEDs. 3) The LED will continue blinking for about 2 minutes and then remain. Now the is ready for detection. 4) By pushing and maintaining pressure on the MANUAL TEST button a function test can be performed for all pre-alarm relays and main alarm relay, together with LEDs. First the 8% LEL LED, together with the relay, that will switch to its 1st threshold position (terminals 6 and 7 will close). The buzzer will issue a low frequency sound. Then the 13% LEL LED, together with the relay, that will switch to its 2nd threshold position (terminals 8 an 9 will close). The will issue a high frequency sound. Finally the 20% LEL LED, together with the relay, that will switch to its Main Alarm and Zone Memory position. The buzzer will issue a very high frequency sound. When releasing the MANUAL TEST button, you will see the opposite: Only the Main Alarm and the zone alarm LEDs will remain. 5) The main alarm will continue until the RESET button is pressed, clearing the alarm from all the memories. 6) To complete the general test, use SyxthSense approved or equivalent test gas from a pre-calibrated aerosol within 20% of L.E.L. WARNING: Do not use anything other that recommended test gas e.g. use a cigarette lighter, as this can damage the sensors. The maximum concentrations are: 40% L.E.L for methane, 350pp, for carbon monoxide, 0.85% (MOL) for propane. 7) If you want to simulate a zone fault, you only need to disconnect the return cable of the sensor. When the fault LED turns on a continuous sound will warn you of the failure. At the same time,the relevant relay will switch to its position.
