The teacher/tutr is encuraged t be creative in devising and implementing ther appraches, as apprpriate. The use f examples is there t prvide suggestins. The teacher/tutr is free t use ther examples, as apprpriate. The indicative cntent ensures all learning utcmes are addressed but it may nt fllw the same sequence as that in which the learning utcmes are listed in Sectin 9. 7 Crk Educatin and Training Bard 10. Indicative Cntent This sectin prvides suggestins fr prgramme cntent but is nt intended t be prescriptive. The prgramme mdule can be delivered thrugh classrm based learning activities, grup discussins, ne-t-ne tutrials, field trips, case studies, rle play and ther suitable activities, as apprpriate. Understanding Wrd Prcessing Facilitate the learner t describe: Typical functins and prcesses invlved in creating wrd dcuments such as: Fr Example: Using a cmputer t create, edit, and print dcuments. T perfrm wrd prcessing, yu need a cmputer, a special prgram called a wrd prcessr, and a printer. The great advantage f a wrd prcessr is it enables yu t create a dcument, stre it electrnically n a disk, display it n a screen, mdify it by entering cmmands and characters frm the keybard, save it s yu can access and edit it again and finally print it n a printer. Enable the learner t understand that sme f the primary functins f wrd prcessing are: Insert text: Allws yu t insert text anywhere in the dcument. Delete text: Allws yu t erase characters, wrds, lines, r pages as easily as yu can crss them ut n paper. Cut and Paste: Allws yu t remve (cut) a sectin f text frm ne place in a dcument and insert (paste) it smewhere else. Or indeed t paste int anther dcument. Cpy: Allws yu t duplicate a sectin f text. Page size and Margins: Allws yu t define varius page sizes and margins, and the wrd prcessr will autmatically readjust the text s that it fits. Search and replace: Allws yu t direct the wrd prcessr t search fr a particular wrd r phrase. Yu can als direct the wrd prcessr t replace ne grup f characters with anther everywhere that the first grup appears. Wrd wrap: The wrd prcessr autmatically mves t the next line when yu have filled ne line with text, and it will readjust text if yu change the margins. Save: At any stage thrughut the prcess the user can save the dcument s that it can be retrieved and edited again. Cpying r Duplicating: T cpy r duplicate text, tw separate actins are needed, cpy and paste. Explain the clipbard. Cpying text within a dcument Cpying text frm ne dcument t anther, fr example using View Arrange All t allw the user t see the tw dcuments at the ne time as the actin is being perfrmed. Cutting r Mving: Yu can mve text by cutting it frm ne place and pasting it in anther within a dcument, r cutting and pasting frm ne dcument t anther. Explain the difference between cpy and paste and cut and paste giving practical examples. Deleting: text can be deleted frm yur dcument: Explre different methds i.e. Character by character Selecting and using delete key n keybard Backspace buttn Find & Replace Use Wrd s Find tl t search yur dcument fr a particular wrd r phrase. Use the Replace tl t replace instances f a wrd r phrase with ther text. Search fr and delete text using the Find and Replace ptin. Use the mre ptin in the Find and Replace bx fr mre advanced searches. Demnstrate character and paragraph frmatting skills When creating yur dcuments in MS Wrd ensure that the learner understands and can use the fllwing: Fnt type alter the appearance f the text- use the fnt tl Fnt size- alter the appearance f the text t make it larger fr titles etc., r decrease the fnt size f the text. Subscript text appears smaller and slightly belw the baseline Superscript text appears smaller and slightly abve the baseline Fnt Style Wrd cmes with a cllectin f preset styles r yu can custmise the styles as well as creating yur wn style. Fnt Clur Add clur t yur wrd text t enhance the appearance f a dcument r t add emphasis t yur text. Align Text - use Wrd s alignment cmmands t change hw text is psitined hrizntally n a page. By default text is aligned t the left. Use centre, left and justify Line Spacing adjust the amunt f spacing that appears between lines f text in yur paragraphs. Wider settings make the text easier t read. Set Character spacing- Cntrl the spacing that ccurs between characters in yur text. Fr example: Yu may want the title text f yur dcument t appear stretched ut acrss the tp f yur page r cndense the spacing t make the title fit n ne line. Indent text Use as anther way t cntrl hrizntal psitining f text. Indents are margins that affect individual lines f text r paragraphs. Maybe used t distinguish paragraphs n a page. Tabs used t create vertical aligned clumns f text in yur Wrd dcument. Explain pre-set tabs and setting quick and precise tabs. Explain different tab types, i.e. Left, centre, right, decimal and bar tab. Explain deleting tabs and the difference between tabs and indents. Jin & Split paragraphs- fr dcument editing and prductin Bullets and Numbered Lists set f lists f infrmatin by using bullets r numbers. Bullets add bullet dts in frnt f each list item. Numbers add numbers in frnt f each list item helps t rganise infrmatin. Text Highlighter make the text lk like it was marked with a highlighter pen Frmat painter cpy frmatting and apply elsewhere Inserting Special Characters and Symbls: - Within a wrd prcessr there are many special characters and symbls available. These include accents fr different languages, special typesetting characters, cpyright and registered symbls and lts mre. Add a brder t a paragraph t bring attentin t the text r add a brder t the entire dcument. Add Shading Use this ptin t emphasis certain pieces f text. Create clumns t present yur text in a frmat similar t a newspaper t magazine, perhaps yu want t create a brchure r newsletter. Add Header and Fters t add text that appears at the tp r bttm f every page. Useful fr adding page numbers, dcument title, authr name r date. Wrd Art Decrative text t enhance the appearance f the dcument. Draw a table Fr Example: Facilitate the learner t acquire the skills t: Create a custmised table by drawing the table and cntrlling hw the rws and clumns appear. Add numeric data t the table. Adjust the clumn width r rw height, add clumns and rws, delete clumn and rws and resize and repsitin the table. Use the Layut ptin t set the cell height and width, t merge and split cells and set the alignment f the text within the cells. Use the Design ptin t custmise the lk f the table, and use the shading and brders ptins t set line style and line thickness and clur f the brders that yu draw fr yur table cells. Fr Example: Cnsider with the learner: Use the table created abve t create a chart frm the infrmatin cntained within the table. Explain charts and chart ptins and chart types, hw t manipulate the chart t mve it t anther lcatin and explain hw infrmatin can be displayed in different ways. (Perhaps using Ggle images t Save frm and create a learner custmised flder in My Pictures frm which the learner can wrk with) Align the image using the alignment ptins available in Wrd Resize the image manually, explain hw the image can becme distrted and why. Adjust the height and width using the Frmat ptin. Delete images Picture brders and effects such as frames, shadws r glws can be applied t the image fr extra effect. Editing Operatins: Explre with the learner the fllwing ptins and ensure that he acquires the skills t: Checking Spelling and Grammar in yur dcument by default Wrd autmatically checks fr spelling and Grammar prblems. Misspellings appear underlined with a red wavy line, ptential grammar errrs are underlined in green. Right click t crrect a single mistake, ignre r add t dictinary Run the Spell checker t active the spell and grammar check t crrect the entire dcument. Explre with the learner the settings accessed thrugh Optins and Prf reading and hw these ptins can be adjusted t suit. Encurage the learner t read thrugh the text t identify any errrs that may have nt been picked up by the Spell and Grammar check. Access the Thesaurus thrugh the Review tab n the ribbn and explain its functin t the learners. Explain the margins and defaults set by the applicatin and hw t adjust these margins fr certain dcuments t enhance r use the space available. In a training rm with mre than ne printer explain the default printer and hw this is set up; explain hw t change the default printer. Use print preview and explain its purpse. Guidelines fr Assessment Activities The assessr is required t devise examinatin papers and marking schemes and utline slutins fr Examinatin Thery and Practical, fr Wrd Prcessing Level 4-4N1123. In devising the examinatin papers, care shuld be taken t ensure that the learner is given the pprtunity t shw evidence f achievement f ALL the learning utcmes. Examinatin papers may be designed t allw the learner t make use f a wide range f media in presenting assessment evidence, as apprpriate. Quality assured prcedures must be in place t ensure the reliability f learner evidence. Examinatin Thery 20% The learner shuld be allwed 45 minutes t cmplete this examinatin. Wrd Prcessing The learner must cmplete a thery examinatin that shws he/she understands and can describe the fllwing : Typical Wrd Prcessing functins t include: Dcument creatin Enhancing a dcument Saving and Retrieving a dcument Altering and resaving Exiting the dcument crrectly An understanding f the primary functins and prcesses invlved in creating wrd dcuments. The examinatin will cnsist f ten questins, all f which the learner must answer. Evidence fr this assessment technique may take the frm f written, ral, graphic, audi, visual r digital evidence, r any cmbinatin f these. Any audi, vide r digital evidence must be prvided in a suitable frmat. All instructins fr the learner must be clearly utlined in an assessment brief r examinatin paper. 18 Crk Educatin and Training Bard Examinatin Practical 80% The learner shuld be allwed a 2 hurs t cmplete this examinatin. Wrd Prcessing: The learner will cmplete a practical examinatin, requiring him t: Create dcuments fr persnal r business requirements that shuld shw he/she understands and can practically perfrm the fllwing tasks: Create, save and name files. Save t different drives r lcatins within certain drives Use such editing tls as inserting and deleting text, cut, cpy and paste, - within a dcument and frm ne dcument t anther. Frmat text t jin and split paragraphs, change fnt type, size and style, use clur, indents and tabs, line spacing, bullets and numbering, symbls and special characters. Object insertin t include Table creatin & wrking with images t enhance the appearance f the dcument. Different paper sizes and their suitability, changing rientatin and adjusting margins t suit the particular dcument being created. Print and print ptins, t include changing frm the default printer, changing paper size, number and range f pages and wrking with clur ptins Sme f the dcuments prduced shuld be saved in different file frmats. Prf read, spell check use the thesaurus and grammar tls. Clse but d nt clse applicatin. Clse the applicatin and exit crrectly. All instructins fr the learner must be clearly utlined in an examinatin paper. 12. Grading Distinctin: 80% - 100% Merit: 65% - 79% Pass: 50% - 64% Unsuccessful: 0% - 49% At levels 4, 5 and 6 majr and minr awards will be graded.
