2 1 ISO 9001:2008 QMS Foundation & Internal Auditor Course AIMS OF THE COURSE To provide delegates with an overview of the purpose and requirements of ISO 9001:2008 as a tool for business management and improvement. Useful as an introduction to anyone involved in the development, implementation and management of an ISO 9001:2008 management system Course learning objectives: Understand and explain the purpose and intent of the ISO 9000 series of standards Understand and describe the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard within the ISO 9000 series Understand and explain the relationship between the clauses of ISO 9001:2008 Understand the requirements of the standard and provide guidance for implementation The course will be interactive to encourage participants, discuss and clarify all their doubts, if any about the ISO 9001:2008 standard requirements and thus facilitating for effective implementation of the quality management system. PRE-REQUISITES Familiarity with the structure and requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 would be useful, but not essential, as this course is designed as a basic introduction to the subject. DELEGATE ASSESSMENT Assessment is carried out by continuous assessment of delegate performance throughout the theoretical and practical phases. CONTENTS The course contents are: An introduction to the concept of quality, its basic concepts, and terminology associated with quality management Introduction to the benefits that may be achieved through implementation of an ISO 9001:2008 compliant system Introduction to the ISO 9000 series of standards Review and interpretation of the particular requirements of ISO 9001:2008 for implementation Effective approach to the implementation

Useful as an introduction to: anyone involved in the development, implementation and management of an ISO 9001:2008 management system, and/or preparing for performing internal audits COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of the course students will be able to: Describe the responsibilities of an internal auditor and the role of internal audit in the maintenance and improvement of management systems Describe with reference to the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle and the model of a process-based QMS the purpose and structure of ISO 9001:2008 Plan, conduct and report an internal audit of part of a QMS in accordance with the guidelines in ISO 9001:2008 ENABLING OBJECTIVES/AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE By the end of the course students will be able to understand and describe: The purpose, structure and significance of a QMS The terms and definitions used in auditing, including objectives, criteria and scope The audit cycle Auditor/lead auditor responsibilities Planning and conducting audits of processes for which documented procedures do or do not exist Gathering and evaluating objective evidence Audit reporting and follow-up COURSE CONTENT Course contents are: An overview of ISO 9001:2008.
