8 Chapter 3 One day I got on the bus for work and my first stop was a big load of white people like 8 or 9 people then my next stop was a black girl named Rosa Parks. When she got on the bus she went to the front of the bus and my next stop was a white man and he had nowhere to sit, so I look at Rosa Parks, and I said "give that white man that seat." She said "no." I said, "I well call the police," and she did not move. So, I called the police and the police came and arrested her and took to jail in Montgomery, AL. The whole time I was mad, thinking, December 1, 1955, four days before the boycott began, Rosa Parks, an African-American woman, refused to yield her seat to a white man on a Montgomery bus. She was arrested and fined. The boycott of public buses by blacks in Montgomery began on the day of Parks' court hearing and lasted 381 days. Rosa Parks was very important to the African American people. In the past the Black's did not have the most right but the whites did.
