The instructor will focus on basic skills such as grip, posture, stance, ball position and aim. The four types of swings including putting, chipping, pitching and full swing will also be other key components covered in this program. All activities will be age and level appropriate to increase motor development, stimulate thinking, and introduce basic soccer skills. The program will be either inside one of our gyms or outside on a field lead by professional soccer coaches. Teams are formed through a player evaluation/draft procedure. U8 and U10 players will practice one night a week, U12-U19 players will practice two nights a week. Games are mostly held on Saturdays with a possibility of minimal Sunday afternoon games. The season lasts through the middle of November. Age groups with 4 teams or less may have to be inter-scheduled with other metro area leagues resulting in some travel outside of Roswell for games. 4 JUNIOR ACADEMY A developmental program for advanced recreational soccer players and is an introduction to professional training and will reinforce the basic soccer concepts that promotes player development. The training will provide a solid foundation to prepare players for the next level of play. A licensed professional coach will run and oversee the two practices each week. Teams will also have volunteer coaches who will assist in practices and run games. All NEW players must attend an evaluation on 8/2 from 2-4:30 p.m. at Waller Park Extension Lower field. 5 WINTER PRE-SEASON BASKETBALL CLINIC If you love basketball, come out and jump start your season and improve your game! This clinic will be conducted by Bert Tucker, Director of Collegiate Prep Basketball Academy (to learn more go to This clinic will be perfect for players who might be a little rusty in preparing for the winter basketball evaluations the following week. This is a more competitive league than recreational baseball with most games being played at Roswell facilities and some games which may require limited and local travel. Tryouts will be held the weekend of January 23, 2016 with practices beginning the following weekend. The number of teams will vary based on registration/tryout numbers. Once selected for a team, players are required to pay the remaining balance prior to participating. If not selected, the participant will be automatically placed in the recreational league. 7 FACE-OFF LACROSSE This is an instructional program for boys and girls ages 4 6 with a focus on fun, learning the sport of lacrosse, and honoring the game. Participants will learn the rules of lacrosse and develop throwing and catching skills through friendly games against each other on Saturdays and one practice during the week. Age on 9/1/15. 8 WORLD CUP SOCCER The fundamentals of soccer will be taught in a noncompetitive atmosphere. Weekday sessions consist of activities focusing on skills and individual development. Saturday sessions will consist of friendly games. Ages 4-5, age on 8/1/15. WEST OF GA 400 All weekday sessions are at Grimes Bridge Park and all Saturday sessions are at Waller Park Extension. Teams are formed through a player evaluation/draft procedure. U8 and U10 players will practice one night a week, U12-U19 players will practice two nights a week. Games are mostly held on Saturdays with a possibility of minimal Sunday afternoon games. The season lasts through the middle of November. Age groups with 4 teams or less may have to be inter-scheduled with other metro area leagues resulting in some travel outside of Roswell for games. Players must fit within the age groups below in order to participate: Practices for all U8 & U10 BOYS will be held on EITHER Monday OR Wednesday Practices for all U8 & U10 GIRLS will be held on EITHER Tuesday OR Thursday Age Control Dates Boys Girls U8 8/01/07-7/31/ U10 8/01/05-7/31/ Practices for U12 U19 can be held any two days a week Monday Friday depending on the team Age Control Dates Boys Girls U12 8/01/03-7/31/ U14 8/01/01-7/31/ U16 8/01/99-7/31/ U19 8/01/96-7/31/ Evaluations held on 2/6 Practices begin week of 2/15 Games begin 3/5 Fee: $110, residents $165, non-residents (on or before 1/23) Fee: $120, residents $180, non-residents (after 1/23) JUNIOR ACADEMY A developmental program for advanced recreational soccer players and is an introduction to professional training and will reinforce the basic soccer concepts that promotes player development. The training will provide a solid foundation to prepare players for the next level of play. A licensed professional coach will run and oversee the two practices each week. Teams will also have volunteer coaches who will assist in practices and run games. Age Control Dates Coed Boys 8/01/06-7/31/ Girls 8/01/06-7/31/ Practices begin week of 2/15 Games begin 3/5 Fee: $160, residents $240, non-residents (on or before 2/1) Fee: $176, residents $264, non-residents (after 2/1) SELECT SOCCER (Academy, Classic, Athena) Tryouts for this program are held annually in June. Participants will receive a combination of speed, agility, strength, power, flexibility, balance and core strength training that is applicable to any sport or athletic program. Boys and girls, ages 8-13, age on 9/1/16.
