1 Window and Door Submittal Requirements A window/door submittal illustrates and details what is currently in place and what is proposed to be installed or repaired and how. All window and door submittals will be evaluated for conformance with the appropriate HPOZ Preservation Plan and the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for Rehabilitation. Submit six (6) packets of each of the following items for staff to include in the case file and distribute to HPOZ Board members:. Site Photos with Key Map Context photos of the front of the property and each whole side of the building on which the windows or doors are located All photos should be keyed to a map. A key map is a site or aerial photo of the site that labels where photos were taken and matches a label with each photo. (Figure ) A photo of each existing window/door that will be replaced or repaired. Photos should show the entire window/door and details, as shown below:. Example Photos If historic window/doors on the building on the building do not exist, use photos of a similar building in the area, illustrating what the probable original window/door would have been. If another building s window/doors are being shown, note its address and proximity to the applicant site. Also, note the location of the window/door on the building (how does that compare to the proposed window/door?). Photos or illustrations of each new window/door should include the component details and dimensions. (Figure ) Figure. Sample key map with labels. Figure. Examples of door and window components.

2 . Window/Door Schedule The schedule is a list or table describing existing and proposed windows/doors. (Refer to sample schedules, pgs. 4-5) A schedule should include the following details: Labels for existing and proposed windows/doors o Assign labels, such as letters or numbers, to each window/door that correspond to key map, floor plan, photos, and illustrations. (Figure 4) Description of window/door type: (Figure ) o Window Types: casement, double hung, single hung, hopper, fixed, sliding (slider), jalousies ( louver) o Door Types: panel, panel with lites, french, Materials, such as: o Window Materials: wood, vinyl, aluminum, steel o Door Materials: wood,, metal Dimensions for each window/door o Use the same measurement type throughout the submittal (6-6 for 6 feet and 6 inches). Glazing type, such as: o single-pane, double-pane, triple-pane (Figure 5) Figure. Examples of door and window types. Figure 4. 3 4. Illustrations with Window/Door Dimensions Include detailed measurements for features, such as the frame, header, sill, lights, muntins, jambs, and panels. (Figure 6) Show multiple views (elevation, cross-section) to demonstrate the depth of windows/doors with relation to the wall. (Figure 7) 5. Supplementary Information Manufacturer product brochures and cut sheets o Provides information such as the illustration of the window/door, instructions for installation, glazing, dimensions, etc. Installation details o Type of installation used, such as: bullnose, inset, frame, molding, flush. o Show the measurement from the inset of the window glazing to the edge /face of the sill Figure 6.
