2 SCREEN ACTING WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS At the Yorkshire Academy of Film & Television Acting we specialise in teaching acting with a delivery for screen. The world of technology is growing and ever changing with more and more screen platforms producing their own content and requiring skilled actors. We recognise these changes in the industry and not only teach our students the skills of acting for screen but also the skills of professionalism, which are essential to succeed in any working environment. Our Screen Acting Workshops are designed to be informative and educational as well unique and exciting for the students. We aim to build confidence in all students that attend our workshops as well as teaching them the skills of acting for screen. All students will be taught how to deliver a performance for screen and will be educated on the major differences between stage and screen performance. In all of our workshops, students have the opportunity to be filmed and to view the playback of their performance to enable them to understand how their performances translate on screen. TUTORS We only use the best tutors at YAFTA.You can rest assured that our workshops are run by professional tutors who are educated and qualified in their areas of expertise. ALL OF OUR TUTORS: * Hold at least a degree level qualification in acting. * Are experienced teachers * Are DBS cleared * Hold paediatric first aid certification. * Are experienced screen actors.
3 FULL DAY SCREEN ACTING WORKSHOP Working on the Differences in Performance Requirements Between Stage & Screen. OBJECTIVES: * To develop understanding of the differences between stage and screen acting. * To practically apply techniques to enhance performance for screen. * To understand and practically apply the thought processes necessary to give a truthful screen performance. * Develop an understanding of how ones own performance translates on screen. STUDENTS WILL COVER: * Differences Between Stage and Screen. * Technicalities of Screen Acting * Working from Scripted scenes * Working from the inside out, the importance of thinking and not doing. * Playing the Subtext * Filmed Performance and Playback * How to Give a Naturalistic performance for Screen. There is the option for those who are interested in work behind the camera to undertake the roles of crew including; director, producer, assistant director, continuity experts etc. COST: 500 CAPACITY: Maximum of 20 SUITABILITY: Students who already have some experience of acting will benefit most from this course. AGES: 11 years + If there is a requirement for more students to attend the course, this can be discussed.
4 HALF DAY SCREEN ACTING WORKSHOP A taster session to teach the main differences between acting for stage and screen. OBJECTIVES: * Develop understanding of the differences between stage and screen acting. * Develop an understanding of how ones own performance translates on screen. * Students will cover: * Differences Between Stage and Screen. * Technicalities of Screen Acting * Working with Scripted Scenes Covering the Basics * Filmed Performance and Playback There is the option for those who are interested in work behind the camera to undertake the roles of crew including; director, producer, assistant director, continuity experts etc. COST: 300 CAPACITY: Maximum of 20. SUITABILITY: Students who already have some experience of acting will benefit most from this course. AGES: 11 years + If there is a requirement for more students to attend the course, this can be discussed.
5 YAFTA 11 WEEK ACTING FOR SCREEN COURSE This exciting course can be run over 11 consecutive weeks, bi-weekly or monthly. The course does not have to run during the school week and can be offered as a weekend course to be held at your school, funded by parents. Throughout this course, students will develop the skills to enable them to act with a specific delivery for screen. They will develop knowledge of the acting industry and the professionalism skills required to succeed as an actor. Students will also learn about the technicalities of working on a film set with students being offered the opportunity to undertake the roles of crew (director, producer, continuity, assistant director etc) whilst filming is taking place each week. Throughout the course students will work on devising their own performances as well as working from scripts from Film and TV programmes. At the end of the course, students will put all of their newly learnt skills into practice through devising their own performances, which will be filmed and screened on the final day of the course. EACH WEEK STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN FILMING AND PLAYBACK COURSE OBJECTIVES: * To develop understanding of the differences between stage and screen acting. * To develop understanding and competence in all skills required for an actor. * To practically apply techniques to enhance performance for screen. * To understand and practically apply the thought processes necessary to give a truthful screen performance. * Develop knowledge and competence in the professionalism and industry skills required for actors. * Understand the skills required for acting for different genres. * Develop an understanding of how ones own performance translates on screen. STUDENTS WILL COVER: WEEK 1: Introduction to Course and Screen Acting. Technicalities of Screen Acting WEEK 2: Script Work- Text Analysis, Working From The Script. WEEK 3: Characterisation WEEK 4: Improvisation WEEK 5: Emotions Workshop WEEK 6: Understanding the Acting Industry- Casting Directors, Agents, Working as an Actor. Audition Technique- Mock Auditions WEEK 7: Acting for Comedy WEEK 8: Acting for Sci-Fi and Horror WEEK 9: Acting for Soap and Drama WEEK 10: Devising and Rehearsing Scenes for Filming and Performance WEEK 11: Performing and Filming final Scenes COST: Half days are 330 per session, maximum of 10 students Full days are 500 per session, maximum of 20 students. SUITABILITY: Students who already have some experience of acting will benefit most from this course. AGES: 11 years +
