1 Quality Measure Improvement Guide for Pressure Sores Problem: If your nursing home has residents with pressure sores, those residents are exposed to potentially serious even life-threatening medical conditions. For that reason, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) includes pressure sores as one of ten quality measures (QMs) in its Five-Star rating. Your facility s performance in pressure sore management is evaluated based on this CMS regulation: F314 Based on the comprehensive Assessment of a resident, the facility must ensure that: 1. A resident who enters the facility without pressure sores does not develop pressure sores unless the individual s clinical condition demonstrates that they were unavoidable; and 2. A resident having pressure sores receives necessary treatment and services to promote healing, prevent infection and prevent new sores from developing. Intent (c): The intent of this requirement is that the resident does not develop pressure ulcers unless clinically unavoidable and that the facility provides care and services to: Promote the prevention of pressure ulcer development; Promote the healing of pressure ulcers that are present (including prevention of infection to the extent possible); and Prevent development of additional pressure ulcers. Solution: To help your nursing home effectively prevent or treat pressure sores and improve its CMS Five-Star quality rating Briggs has assembled the exact documentation, charting, education and training, and medical supplies you ll need. Remember, every Briggs form integrates industry best practices and has been recognized by customers as best-of-class. Get the Right Solutions Now! The sooner you implement the right solutions for preventing and treating pressure sores, the sooner you can see your Five-Star quality ratings improve.
