1 How to use the Warm-Ups The optional, photocopiable charts on the following pages are designed to be used as a warm-up activity before students actually look at the unit in the Student's Book. Students fill in missing words in the questions, and then write their own answers. Doing this forces the students to think about the meaning of the questions before beginning the listening activities in the unit. The Warm-Ups can be done in class, or they can be assigned for homework. This activity can also be used as a review or a test. The time it will take to complete the Warm-Ups will vary from unit to unit. Generally, they should take 20 minutes to complete. Procedure: 1. Make sure the students have their books closed so they cannot see the answers. 2. Photocopy and distribute the Warm-Up charts. 3. Have the students fill in the blanks with words from the box. 4. When finished, have the students open their books and check their answers. 5. Finally, have the students write their own answers to the questions.
