Jesus offers the same invitation to us to follow him and experience a relationship with him. 12 John 2:1-11, Watching for Signs RR: Psalm 29:1-11 At the wedding of Cana, Jesus performs a miracle and his disciples see a sign of who Jesus truly is. 19 John 2:13-25 A New Age A New Relationship RR: Psalm 40:1-11 Jesus cleanses the temple, signifying the destruction and raising of the temple of his body. 26 John 3:1-21 A New Beginning RR: Psalm 27:1, 4-9 Jesus and Nicodemus meet late at night and discuss being born from above, February and God s love for the world. 2 John 4:1-42 Water for Dry Times RR: Psalm 15:1-5 Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well, speaks of living water, true worship, and the fields white for harvest. 9 John 3:1-17, Nehemiah 2:17-20a Building a Place of Grace RR Psalm 119:1-8 (Pastor Rick preaching) Desert Streams is building so that people of Surprise and the surrounding area may experience the love and grace of God 16 John 6:35-59 Sustenance RR: Psalm 147:1-11 Jesus identifies himself as the bread of life. He is the food that gives us life and sustains us.

2 23 John 7:37-52 Living Water from Desert Streams RR: Psalm 119:33-40 (Dedication Sunday) March Jesus gives the promise of the Spirit s living water. Desert Streams has the mission of being a source of living water for the people of Surprise and the surrounding area. 2 John 9:1-41 Light Enough to See RR: Psalm 2:1-11 (Celebration Sunday) Jesus is the light of the world brings light to the eyes of a man born blind. With Jesus light shining through us, we are the lights of the world today. 5 John 10:1-18 Called to Die (Ash Wednesday) Jesus is the gate and the good shepherd, who lays down his life for his flock. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have taken up his ministry. 9 John 11:1-44 Death and Life RR: Psalm 32:1-11 Jesus is the resurrection and the life. We see this in his raising of Lazarus, in our everyday lives, and at the time when we face death. 16 John 13:1-17 Faith and Service RR: Psalm 121:1-8 Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. This is a sign of Jesus love and example 23 John 18:12-27 Strength and Weakness RR: Psalm 95:1-11 Jesus boldly stands trial before the high priest Annas. 30 John 18:28-40 Where s the Kingdom? RR: Psalm 23:1-6 April Jesus stands before Pilate. Jesus kingdom is not from this world, but he is still King of kings and Lord of lords. 6 John 19:1-16a Who s King? RR: Psalm 146:1-10 Jesus is condemned and the authorities assert that they have no king but Caesar. The choice is before us, Which king will we serve? 13 John 12:12-17 Welcoming the Alternative RR: Psalm 24:1-10 (Palm Sunday) Palm Sunday welcome of the king and an alternative lifestyle is chosen, which is very different from the world s norm of authority and power. 17 John 19:23-30 Last Words (Good Friday)

3 Jesus last words were those of love, forgiveness, pain, and victory 20 John 20:1-18 A Morning Discovery (Sunrise Service) Seeing Jesus RR: Psalm 118:21-29 (Easter Day) Mary discovers the empty tomb and runs to tell the disciples. Later, in her grief and confusion, she sees Jesus and hears him call her by name. 27 John 20:19-31 The Gift RR: Psalm 145:13-21 Jesus appears to the disciples on Easter evening and gives them the gift of the May Spirit. Later Jesus appears to Thomas in order to quell Thomas doubts. 4 Acts 9:1-9 Challenging Calls RR: Psalm 116:1-4, Paul and Ananias are called into Christ s service. One is called globally while the other is called to local ministry. 11 Acts 16:16-34 A Witness in Song RR: Psalm 23:1-6 Paul and Silas are imprisoned at Philippi. Their songs of faith and attitude of love touch the jailor, who is baptized along with his family. 18 Acts 17:16-31 The God Who Can Be Known RR: Psalm 31:1-5, Paul preaches to the people of Athens and proclaims that their unknown god can be known. Though God is a mystery, God still reveals himself to us and invites us to walk with him in faith. 25 Philippians 1:1018a Partners RR: Psalm 66:8-20 Paul is imprisoned in Rome. He writes to the Philippians to express his thankfulness for their partnership in the gospel. All Christians are partners in the gospel as we seek to share that gospel with the people around us. June 1 Philippians 2:1-13 Single-mindedness RR: Psalm 68:1-10, We are to have a similar mind among ourselves, which is ours in Christ Jesus who became obedient to death. 8 Acts 2:1-21 Energized! RR: Psalm:104:24-34, 35b The Holy Spirit comes upon the disciples and energizes them for mission and ministry. The church is born and the Spirit continues to energize God s people to this day. 15 Exodus 19:1-6, 20:1-2 Precious RR: Psalm 8:1-9

4 The Israelites reach Mount Sinai and the Lord declares that they are his treasured possession. We, too, as children of faith are God s precious possessions. 22 Exodus 20:1-11 How to Love God RR: Psalm 69:7-10, God has moved mightily in our lives. God invites us to respond by placing God first in our lives and loving him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. (The first tablet of the Ten Commandments). 29 Exodus 20:12-16 Play Nicely with Others RR: Psalm 89:1-4, The Lord gives his people instructions for their lives together. They are given in love with the desire that the people of God live abundant, free, and fruitful lives. July 6 Exodus 20:17 Inner Desires RR: Psalm 145:8-14 Coveting our envy of another s possessions and blessings has the potential to destroy our relationship with God and with others. A life of thankfulness and gratitude is commanded instead of coveting John 1:1-4 Witness to the Truth RR: Psalm 65:9-13 We do not share speculations. Rather, we are eye witnesses and we share what we have seen and heard of the truth Jesus John 1:5-2:2 Walking in the Light RR: Psalm 86:11-17 Jesus is the light. As we live our lives in fellowship with Jesus we walk in the light John 4:1-6 Testing the Spirits RR: Psalm 119: Discernment is a gift. It gives God s children the ability to distinguish between what God calls us to and what the world entices us toward. August 3 1 John 4:7-21 The Look of Love RR: Psalm 145:8-9, One of the basic instructions of Jesus is to love one another. Love is the demonstration that we are in Jesus and Jesus is in us. 10 Ruth 1:1-22 Foolish Vows RR: Psalm 85:8-13 Ruth proclaims her loyalty to her mother-in-law, Naomi. Her words at first appear foolish. She is not doing what is normal. Yet her loyalty honors God and God moves powerfully as a result of Ruth s proclamation.

5 17 Ruth 2:1-23 The Blessing of Kindness RR: Psalm 67:1-7 Boaz acts kindly toward Ruth and Naomi. His kindness is used by God to accomplish God s will. 24 Ruth 3:1-18 Bold Steps RR: Psalm 138:1-8 Ruth moves boldly to establish a relationship with Boaz. Her boldness is rewarded. 31 Ruth 4:1-22 Ordinary Actions God s Plan RR: Psalm 26:1-8 Ruth and Boaz are married. Ruth gives birth to Obed, who is the grandfather of David. Ordinary actions are used by God to accomplish God s purpose. September 7 Genesis 6:16:22, 9:8-15 "People of the Covenant" RR: Psalm 119:33-44 In the midst of judgment, The Lord moves to establish a Covenant with Noah, his family, and the animals of the ark. Out of death and destruction there is new life. 14 Genesis 12:1-9 "?" RR: Psalm 103:8-13 Bishop Steve Talmage preaching 21 Genesis 39:1-23, "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" RR: Psalm 145:1-8 Joseph is unjustly put in prison; yet God is present with him there. 28 Exodus 14:10-14, "The Path of Deliverance" RR: Psalm 25:1-9 The sea parts at the exodus; God's deliverance. October 5 Exodus 19:3-7, 20:1-17 "Chosen to Soar" RR: Psalm 80:7-15 The Lord chooses Israel to be a Holy Nation. This is not a position of privilege, but one of responsibility. 12 Joshua 24:1-15 "Setting Course" RR: Psalm 106:1-6, The story of God's deliverance. Joshua says, "As for me and my house, we will serve The Lord." 19 Matthew 22:36-40 First RR: Psalm 96:1-9 As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to place God first in our lives and to serve only God. 26 Matthew 13:22, Luke 16:10-17 "Defense" RR: Psalm 90:1-6, 13-17

6 November In our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ and stewards of God s blessings, the greatest competition that we face is money. Our devotion to money compromises our lives of faith. 2 Philippians 2:5-11 "Poor" RR: Psalm 107:1-7, Jesus shed his godliness and became for us. Being poor in spirit enables us to see nothing as ours and everything as a gift. This perspective enables us to live generously. This perspective also helps us answer the question, Do we love our neighbor? 9 Proverbs 18:10-12 "Tower" RR: Psalm 78:1-7 One of the questions that we must continually ask ourselves is, Is God really our security? 16 Galatians 6:7-10, 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 "Seedtime RR: Psalm 98: The life of faith is a life of risk management. Are will willing to take the risk and take a step of faith in the way we manage our lives and resources? 23 Jeremiah 1:4-10; 7:1-11 "Seeing Ourselves in a Mirror" RR: Psalm 95:1-7a Prophetic call as warning; temple is a den of robbers. 26 Thanksgiving Eve? 30 Habakkuk 1:1-4, 2:2-4, 3:17-19 "Rejoicing with Tears" RR: Psalm 80:1-7, The prophet, grieved by injustice/suffering, watches for God's reply. Faith is a way of life, not an answer. December 7 Esther 4:1-17 "The Plan" RR: Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13 God has a plan as seen in Esther when she was made queen 14 Isaiah 42:1-9 "Piercing the Darkness" RR: Psalm 126:1-6 Through the Spirit, God's servant will be a light to the nations, bringing justice and release to prisoners. 21 Matthew 1:18-25 "The Presence" RR: Psalm 89:1-4 The announcement of Jesus' birth to Joseph; Jesus will be Immanuel--God with us. 24 Luke 2:1-14 "A Savior for All" RR: Psalm 96:1-13 The birth of Jesus is announced by a great multitude.
