Purpose of the job To provide an audiovisual, technical advice and training service to the Society, including filming and editing, production of new internal and external projects and act as a liaison for external production companies. 2. Dimensions To complete up to 20 projects per month, for Press, campaigns, Fundraising and Prosecutions Control and determine archive sales, controlling distribution rights and cost Coordinate the use and supply of archive footage from over 3000 hours of video assets 3. Principal Accountabilities Conduct and coordinate filming, editing of footage for HD broadcast quality productions and assure that content is suitable for public consumption in relation to RSPCA Press Office, campaigns and other departments, which will be used to promote the aims of the society, as well as being supplied for news and commercial programs with the potential to reach millions of viewers. Act as point-of-contact for the department, providing help and expert advice relating to both the production of media projects and specialized technical advice for departments who need to make use of broadcast unit assets such as archive footage. Supply approval and counsel guidance on potential projects to improve the potential impact of media products. Create concepts, produce and coordinate high-end professional motion graphic animations used to convey and represent the societies objectives in a way, which will ensure they are upheld. Control, implement and prepare footage requests from third party, producers, broadcasters and agencies, while ensuring that the footage will be used in an appropriate manner. Utilising over 3000 hours of footage in the broadcast unit

2 video library, secure rights and specify payment on delivery, with control of the budget from archive sales. Provide problem solving service, offsite audiovisual expert technical advice and recommendations for RSPCA events both in and away from HQ, following-up to establish smooth running of events. Maintain and update the RSPCA s technical assets (including over 20,000 worth of camera equipment and edit suites), keeping up to date with technical equipment and software, implementing new processes and technology to ensure these can be used to the RSPCA s advantage and that the societies media output keeps up/exceeds media standards. Responsibility for production of monthly podcasts relating to the RSPCA s work, maintaining quality and content is appropriate for the RSPCA s goals and authorizing publication to the RSPCA website. Training and motivating press officers in audio production to be used in podcasts or to support press releases for radio. Develop the RSPCA podcasts, negotiating with e- marketing and ISSD to problem solve any technical issues and provide the podcasts in a downloadable format to increase future listenership. Produce webisodes and other related content/media to populate the RSPCA website and social media sites, which allows the work of the RSPCA to be directly accessible to its supporters. Supply expert advice to e-marketing in relation to supported media formats as well as developing and judging the RSPCA animation competition. Develop and conduct media training to HQ departments and inspectorate, motivating them to ensure RSPCA messages are confidently and expertly conveyed on regional and national media. Design and supply regular training to press office staff on use of technical equipment (eg podcast equipment) and basic use of editing software, following up to make sure standards are maintained. Consult, approve and modify proposals and negotiate with external production companies to produce RSPCA related programs and promote RSPCA messages, Negotiate and provide advice, footage, compliance and delivery. Deputise for the broadcast executive when they are away from the office/on leave, assuming related responsibilities, leading and approving projects. Undertake any other duties as requested. Job Context The post holder will be mainly required to project manage large and complex video/graphics/animation projects. The project requirements will be given to the post holder and they will be expected to work autonomously as well as in conjunction with Broadcast Executive There will be times when the post holder will need to oversee the department during any absence of the Broadcast Executive, assuming responsibility and ensuring all aspects of the broadcast unit run smoothly, achieve time frames and deliver to budget. The broadcast Producer has as part of the job to develop, edit and direct monthly RSPCA podcasts. Establish, develop and create professional broadcast quality graphic animations for in house projects and external media use Although not fully accountable for the Broadcast Unit budget, the Broadcast Producer has control and authorization of archive sales and budget in relation to footage sales Working with press officers at HQ and in the regions, the broadcast Producer is expected to use television media opportunities (as well as on occasion print, broadcast and online media opportunities) to gain favourable media coverage for the Society. This includes reacting rapidly to day-to-day news by providing RSPCA-owned or other footage to broadcasters, and produce footage for approval and delivery 7. Additional information The post-holder will be required to make frequent trips around England and Wales (and occasionally beyond) for filming, external meetings and other commitments. This can require several days out of the office each month, and often requires overnight stays. 6 Skills & Competencies Ability to film and edit video footage to professional standard Proven ability to film using Sony HD EX3 broadcast quality cameras and DSLRs Advanced knowledge of edit systems Adobe Premier Pro and Final cut Pro (or similar) Advanced knowledge of Apple Motion and or other graphics production software Good working knowledge of Word, PC and Mac systems Good working knowledge of software systems for copy and storage of video footage Ability to write clearly and concisely manner Ability to produce/edit high quality audio production and podcasts/webisodes Storyboarding experience Ability to pitch content ideas. Personal Qualities Flexible approach to work Ability to work under pressure Confident oral communicator with the ability to build a rapport at all levels of the organisation, and with external contacts. Ability to work off own initiative, but seek advice when necessary Ability to prioritise multiple
