4 Housing Reminders For Student-Athletes Must follow dorm checkout procedure. Summarized in res life handout. Student-athletes who do not follow the procedure will be assessed fees. Must complete ACS Drug Free Sport summer contact form: For compliance related issues, and To avoid no-show drug test results.

5 Housing Arranging Housing For PSAs ASU may arrange housing for a PSA who is enrolled in summer school only if the PSA: Signed an NLI, or Received summer school athletics aid. PSA must: Pay for the arranged housing, and Complete the ACS pre-enrollment form.

6 Summer Workouts

7 Summer Workouts Countable Versus Voluntary Countable Defined: Athletically related activities that are observed, supervised, or directed by a coach. Voluntary Defined: No one reports information related to the activity to a coach (workout logs), The request is initiated by the student-athlete, Attendance is not recorded, and There is no penalty for missing and no recognition/incentive for attending.

8 Summer Workouts Conditioning Workouts For Student-Athletes Strength and conditioning coaches may design and conduct student-athlete workouts, if: The workouts are voluntary, and No other coaches are present.

9 Summer Workouts Conditioning Workouts For PSAs In addition to the requirements of studentathletes, PSAs must: Undergo a medical evaluation within the previous six months (including sickle cell); Be currently enrolled in summer term classes* (opening day of class through final exam); and Receive clearance from the Compliance Office. *Football and basketball NLI signees do not have to be enrolled in summer term classes.

10 Summer Workouts Conditioning Workouts For PSAs Who Are Not Enrolled May be in ASU facilities, but Cannot be directed or conducted by strength and conditioning coaches (i.e., they must work out on their own). Note: PSAs not enrolled in classes may not receive equipment or apparel.

11 Summer Workouts Coach Presence: Individual Workouts A coach may participate in a workout session if: It s with a returning student-athlete (not a PSA) who initiates the request, and It s during the summer vacation period. Workouts may involve multiple student-athletes.

12 Summer Workouts Coach Presence: Safety Exception Sports Workouts are initiated by the student-athletes and attendance is not required. Coach cannot conduct the workouts. Only safety instruction can be provided. Note: In gymnastics and field events, coaches can only be present if a student-athlete uses equipment related to the sport.

13 Summer Workouts Basketball Summer Access Length of Summer Access. May begin the day after spring commencement. Can last 8 weeks. o Do not have to be consecutive weeks. o Student-athlete specific. CARA Limitations. Treat summer access just like out-of-season. o Eight hours total per week. o Two hours max of skill instruction. No required days off.

15 Student-Athlete Employment

16 Student-Athlete Employment Summer Jobs NCAA rules require that student-athletes are: Paid only for work actually and already performed. Paid at the going rate. Not paid because of athletics reputation. All returning student-athletes must complete the ACS Employment Verification Form.

17 Student-Athlete Employment Student-athletes cannot Lessons Use their name, picture, or appearance to promote or advertise the lessons, or Use ASU facilities. Compensation must be from the person receiving the lesson or the recipient s parents. Compliance Office must have Documentation of the recipient, and The fee charged for the lesson.

19 ACS Reminders Install new ACS app update. Enhanced editing functionality for quick updates to school, club team, or coach information. Ability to add new PSAs, schools, club teams, or coaches directly from mobile device. Review tip of the week regarding parent-coach. Pocket dials.
