HOW TO ACCESS CAMTASIA RELAY AT UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA (USA)

1 Updated 02/27/12 Active Directory (AD) Account To access the Camtasia Relay system, an Active Directory (AD) account is required. For establishing accounts or any log in problems, please contact Richard Whipple in Academic Computing / or rwhipple@usouthal.edu. In order for a profile to be established, you must first contact Richard Whipple with the following information: Jag Number address Name of instructor Requested formats (ipod, flash, itunes U, etc) If to be delivered to itunes, the course and tab that the content will be delivered to If you already have the AD account and need to reset the password, please visit the following URL: Figure 1. 3 Please note that the new password must meet all the requirements listed on the web page. at least 7 characters long contain at least 1 UPPERCASE letter contain at least 1 lowercase letter contain at least 1 digit not a repeat of your last 3 passwords Download Camtasia Relay In order to use Camtasia Relay, you need to install the Camtasia Relay Recorder on your computer. Please follow the steps below. 1. Go to 2. Use your AD account to log in and click Sign In. Figure 2. Camtasia Relay login. 3. Once you have signed in, select Download Recorders on the navigation bar. 3

4 Figure 3. Camtasia Relay Home page. This takes you to the download recorders page where you will select the recorder that works for your computer platform. 4. 5 5. Double-click on the downloaded installation file and follow the installation instructions. Camtasia Relay Profiles The Camtasia Relay server will process and publish various types of formats depending on the profiles set up in your Camtasia Relay account. The available profiles are: Camtasia Studio Recording (camrec): Select this format if you plan to edit recordings in the Camtasia Studio. Camtasia Studio is required. ipod/iphone: Generates a media file that will play on all ipods. The video will also play on itunes, Quicktime, and other desktop media players. If you select this profile, be sure to specify the course and group tab in itunesu that you would like the content to be delivered to. MP3: This format generates audio-only recordings. Real Media: This format will generate a Real Media file, playable only in RealPlayer. Flash (recommended): This format will generate a flash video, supported by all platforms and web browsers. Also includes a navigable table of contents based on the titles of presentation slides in PowerPoint/Keynote. Windows Media (wmv): This format will generate a windows media file, playable in Windows Media Player and other supported desktop media players. This format can have compatibility issues when played back on a Mac. Captioning: This format will generate captioning for screen recordings and will also provide caption editing capabilities. The final product will be produced in a Flash format. Please note you will need to submit a form to request a profile setup.
