2 Definition CONTENTS A Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind differs from a Vitrum Roller Blind Control Wireless for this reason: there is no exit used for directly control a load. It s used in all the situations in which you need to control a load that is connected to a Vitrum Roller Blind Control Wireless from a different position. Being with less electronic components on board, it costs less than Vitrum Roller Blind Control Wireless. 0. BEFORE STARTING Vitrum Roller Blind Control is a switch system designed to control electrical motors which open and close roller blinds, curtains or other elements which function in a similar fashion. The system is available in the Classic version as well as the Wireless version, which can be controlled remotely using a remote control handset or using an ipad. Vitrum Roller Blind Control is designed to function in two ways: For roller blinds fitted with limit switches, the upwards (or downwards) movement is actioned by briefly pressing the corresponding key: the movement of the shutter continues until it trips the limit switch or until the key is briefly pressed again to interrupt its movement. Alternatively, the roller blind control motor will continue to operate as long as the key is held down, and be interrupted as soon as it is released. A simple procedure makes it possible to memorize the time required by the motor to open or close the roller blind completely; in this case the system can also be used with motors not fitted with limit switches. In either case, the operating time of the motor can be set as preferred so that with just a touch of the key the roller blind will automatically be raised to the desired position. Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind, using logics descrive above, can be used to control Vitrum Roller Blind Control. 3

4 For systems that are different from those described above, it is important to carefully evaluate the necessary control logic before commencing the installation of Vitrum. Always check that the motor used is fitted with all the safety features required by current safety legislation especially as regards the prevention of injury by crushing - because Vitrum functions solely as a movement control device. Think Simple spa accepts no liability for any injury or damage to persons or things deriving from systems installed by unqualified persons or not in compliance with current legislation. The Vitrum system that you have purchased is designed for connection to the existing 230V power supply circuit. Before commencing installation, therefore, ensure that the mains power supply had been disconnected by setting the main switch on your electricity meter to OFF. Do not re-connect the power supply and start using Vitrum until all connections have been correctly completed and the Vitrum unit has been inserted into the wall-mounting box. Vitrum must be installed by a professional electrician who is qualified to operate on electrical power circuits in full compliance with all current safety legislation. 4

5 For each device, connect the power supply and the return wires from the actuators as shown in the circuit diagrams printed on the rear of the boxes in the vicinity of the terminal block. Refer exclusively to the circuit diagrams contained in this manual. Carefully check that the wires and connectors are securely fastened. After securing the unit to the wall-mounting box, temporarily use the plastic cover for protection until the glass décor plate is fitted. Do not install Vitrum in the vicinity of sources of heat or in conditions of high humidity. IMPORTANT: Protect the system by fitting a quick-acting fuse with an interrupt rating that is appropriate for the electrical load. 5

6 1. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS Connect the Live wire to the terminal marked L, the Neutral wire to the terminal marked N and the motors to the terminals marked M1 (open) and M2 (close). 8 When the system has been correctly connected, it may be operated as follows: After connecting (and doing association if you use Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind see chapter 5), a brief touch of one of the keys ( open or close ) actions the motor to raise or lower the roller blind. Briefly touch the key again to stop the motor; otherwise the roller blind will stop moving when the limit switch is tripped. Alternatively, raise or lower the roller blind by holding the open or close key down; when the key is released, the roller blind will stop moving. IMPORTANT After connecting, check that the wires are correctly positioned inside the wall-mounting box. When securing Vitrum to the wall-mounting box, use the screws supplied but do not use electric screwdrivers, as these may exert excessive force which might damage the product. 8

9 2. POSITIONING THE GLASS DECOR PANEL In order to fit the glass panel correctly, ensure that the four plastic tabs on the panel are in perfect alignment with the anchor holes. When the glass panel tabs are aligned with the holes, press the four corners of the glass panel evenly until it is fully inserted into the wall-mounting box. After fitting the glass panel, the buttons remain inoperative for about 10 seconds. An acoustic signal will then sound three times to indicate that the sensors have been re-calibrated, after which they resume normal operation. 10 3. VITRUM IS INTELLIGENT (wireless versions only) The product that you have purchased functions INDEPENDENTLY, but it also has a hi-tech Wireless technological heart. Thanks to Z-Wave Wireless technology, each Vitrum Wireless unit offers numerous advantages if connected as part of a network: it is possible to associate multiple Vitrum units, to construct scenarios, and to control lights using a remote control unit. If you are connecting Vitrum to a pre-existing system and you are using a unit produced by a different manufacturer (i.e. other than our HOME MASTER remote handset), refer to the manufacturer s instuctions and the procedures relative to your remote handset. Otherwise, proceed as follows to INCLUDE Vitrum to your Home Wireless Network: Remove the cover from the rear panel of the HOME MASTER remote handset. 1 A B C D 10

11 Press and hold down INC until the corresponding LED turns yellow, then release the key. Place the HOME MASTER remote handset near the Vitrum unit to be included in the network. Touch any of the keys on Vitrum to include the unit. Vitrum indicates that it has Vitrum indicates that it hasbeen included in the network by flashing the LEDs three times (green). 11

12 When all the Vitrum units have been added to the network, press the INC key again until the LED switches off. Now you will see that the illuminated rings around the Vitrum touch keys no longer light red when changing from one status to the next. NOTE A Vitrum unit cannot be added to the network if it has already been included in a different network. In this case, it is necessary to perform the factory reset procedure (see Paragraph 8). 12

13 4. SETTINGS 4.1 Selecting the actioning time for the motor The default time for which the motor is actioned is set in the factory to fifty seconds. When a button is pressed briefly, Vitrum will operate the motor to which it is connected for that time. If this time is insufficient to complete the opening/closing operation, or if the time is excessive (in which case, if the motors are not fitted with limit switches, the clutch on the motor would be overloaded), the motor actioning time can be adjusted as follows: Move the curtain or roller blind to the completely-open or completely-closed position by pressing and holding down either the UP key or the DOWN key. When the curtain/roller blind is completely open (or closed), remove the glass décor panel from the front of the unit. Press and hold down the two service buttons for at least 8 seconds, and wait until the buzzer sounds twice, which indicates that the system has entered the configuration MENU. The LEDs on the keys will begin to flash LIGHT MAGENTA. 13

14 If the curtain/roller blind has been moved to the completely-open position, press and hold down the CLOSE button until the curtain/roller blind is completely closed, then release the button. During this part of the operation, the CLOSE button will flash YELLOW. If the curtain/roller blind is in the completely-open position at the start of this operation, proceed in the same fashion, but pressing the OPEN button. If you want to save this actioning time, just briefly press the two service buttons; otherwise Vitrum will turn to previous setting after 3 minutes of inactivity. When this operation has been completed, Vitrum will have memorized the time necessary to open or close the curtain/roller blind completely, switching off the motors automatically at the appropriate moment. 14

15 The default time for which the motor is operated could be different between Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind and Vitrum Roller Blind Control. However the effective operating time will be the one set on Vitrum Roller Blind Control. For safety and aesthetical reasons you should set devices in order to have the same operating time so that Vitrum lighting feedback will be the same. 15

16 4.2 Selecting ALL OFF The HOME MASTER remote handset and the Vitrum Master On-Off feature a function referred to as ALL OFF, which allows the user to send a signal that switches off all the Z-Wave devices connected to the network. In order to disable this command, proceed as follows: press and hold down for at least 8 seconds one of the two service buttons (the leftmost button for Vitrum EU or the topmost button for Vitrum BS) and wait until the buzzer sounds twice, which indicates that the system has entered the configuration MENU. The LEDs on the keys will begin to flash: GREEN to indicate that the ALL OFF command has been accepted, or LIGHT BLUE to indicate that the command has been refused. After selecting the configuration, press the service button briefly to exit the menu. The factory setting is ALL OFF ENABLED. 16

17 5. ADVANCED FUNCTIONS: CREATION OF CONTROL LOGIC On all Vitrum Roller Blind Control units, it is possible to create control logic processes: these make it possible to pilot the device from other devices of the same type, from Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind or using the Home Master remote handset. To do this, all the devices must first be INCLUDED in the home network (see paragraph 3); the HOME MASTER remote handset can be used only to completely open or close all the curtains/roller blinds; other adjustments can be made directly using the buttons. To do so, proceed as follows: 5.1 Association with other Vitrum Roller Blind Control devices Set the HOME MASTER remote handset to association mode by pressing and holding down the ASC button until the yellow LED lights. Then release the ASC button. 17

18 Press the button corresponding to the Vitrum unit to be controlled. The corresponding LED will flash magenta until the association process has been completed. The user may select up to a maximum of FIVE different Vitrum modules. 18

19 On the HOME MASTER remote handset, press the association button briefly. The LED will light red. Press the button on the Vitrum unit from which to control the Vitrum device selected previously. In this case, too, the corresponding LED will light magenta. 19

20 When carrying out these operations, it is necessary to position the remote handset in the vicinity of the wall units. IMPORTANT Do not associate Vitrum Roller Blind Control to other types of Vitrum devices (Dimmer, On-Off, Satellite). You can do association only between Vitrum of same model or With Vitrum Satellite Roller Blind. Also, a maximum of FIVE other devices may be associated with a Vitrum device. In order to cancel the association, simply perform the same procedure, though pressing the DIS key on the HOME MASTER remote handset instead of ASC. 20

21 6. FACTORY RESET Proceed as follows to reset the Vitrum unit to the original factory settings: A. EXCLUSION from the home network using the HOME MASTER remote handset: Press EXC on the HOME MASTER remote handset and wait until the yellow LED lights. Press and hold down the leftmost button on the multi-channel Vitrum unit (EU Standard), or the topmost key (BS Standard) or the central key on singlechannel units, for at least 8 seconds. 21

22 Vitrum will flash red three times and sound an acoustic signal to indicate that the original configuration has been restored. B. FACTORY RESET using the hidden button Remove the Vitrum unit from the wall-mounting box. Press the hidden Factory Reset button and hold down for at least 3 seconds. Vitrum will flash RED three times and sound an acoustic signal to indicate that the original factory configuration has been restored. 22

23 7. SUPERVISION (wireless devices only) If you have decided to activate the HOME MASTER supervision apps for ipad, you will find that the identification function featured by every Vitrum unit is extremely useful. Identification status is indicated when all the illuminated rings light Magenta and begin to flash. This functional status is created directly by the supervision app as soon as the corresponding command is entered. The DEMO versions for your ipad will soon be available from Apple s App Store. 24 8. COMPATIBILITY All Vitrum Wireless devices are tested and certified to Z-Wave specifications and are designed to interact with certified Z-Wave products marketed by other manufacturers. Certified Z-Wave devices of different types or designed for other applications may be added to your home network; if these support the functions, they can also be used as repeaters to communicate with your Vitrum wireless units. In this way, your system can easily be extended to operate with different applications and thus adapted to your specific needs. 24

25 9. COMPLIANCE WITH EC DIRECTIVES All Vitrum Wireless units are built in compliance with the following European directives: B.T.2006/95/CE, E.M.C.:2004/108/CE, R&TTE:1999/5/CE. The Manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage or injuries that might be caused by this product if it is used in any way other than as described in this manual.
