1 TOWN OF MIDDLEFIELD TRANSFER STATION & RECYCLING CENTER You must display the current fiscal years Town of Middlefield Transfer Station Permit/Sticker on your vehicle! Please follow all transfer Station Rules and Signs Middlefield has strict illegal dumping rules Please arrive organized & listen to attendant at all times Flattening your trash and recyclables saves our Town tax dollars!
2 Operating Hours Sundays: 10a.m. to 1 p.m. (All year) Wednesdays: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (summer only; May 1 October 1) Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 1. General Fee Schedule a. Primary Sticker $50.00 b. Secondary Sticker $5.00 You may purchase your transfer permit/stickers during regular operating hours. 2. Fines and Rules Includes penalties for illegal disposal a. Recycling summary listed in back of handout b. All fees set by attendant are final and all fines are billed c. Incidence of No Sticker results in a $40.00 fine each violation d. Dumping under another household sticker results in $5.00 first warning and a $40.00 fine for each occurrence thereafter e. Recyclables in the wrong container, $5.00 fine per container f. Dumping outside of container results in $20.00 fine for first offense and a $50.00 fine for any incident thereafter. g. Dump sticker is valid for residents only. h. Prorated rebates are available upon request.
3 3. Household recycling (No charge). There is no charge for the recycling of common household/kitchen items such as bottles, cans, plastic containers, milk cartons, paper and cardboard (see list below) You must have a valid town permit to use the recycling services. Paper Products Newspapers, magazines & circulars Corrugated cardboard Brown paper bags Paperboard boxes Office, computer and colored paper Phone books (No covers) All junk mail and envelopes Clean pizza boxes No egg cartons or waxed cardboard allowed These products can be mixed together Please flatten all boxes and paper. Container Products Tin Cans (soup, cat food, etc.) Aluminum cans and clean foil All green, clear and brown glass jars and bottles Milk cartons and juice packs All plastic containers (#1, #7, including juice, soap, water, milk, etc.) No widow glass, aerosol cans, light bulbs Ceramics, plastic bags or styrofoam

Large Metal Item Recycling Fees Washing machine $15.00 Dyers & stoves $15.00 Water Tanks $20.00 Wood Stoves $10.00 Microwaves/toaster ovens/vacuums$5.00'.,.. Bikes $5.00 Gas Grills (no tank) $5.00 Lawnmowers $10.00 Snow Blowers $25.00 Other Large Metal Items $ Attendant may charge fees for other items not listed above 5. Refrigeration Equipment Recycling Fees Ali refrigerators/freezers/air conditioners/humidifiers $50.00 (The Town must pay for proper disposal of Freon from these units before recycling.)

Bulky/Demo and Miscellaneous Large Item Disposal Fees Mattresses & box springs (All Sizes) $35.00 Couches (2 or more seats) $15.00 Stuffed chairs & recliners $10.00 Rugs/chairs, etc $5.00-$10.000ther small items $ $15.00 Other large items $20.00 Doors, frames, construction scrap $10.00 Toilets, sink1c, 'tubs $25.00 Attendant may assess other fees for items not listed above. 7.Tire Disposal Fees Passenger tire $4.00 Passenger tires on Rims $5.00 Truck Tire on rim (Over 18 inches) $10.00 Larger tires require extra fees, please check with attendant 8. Electronics Recycling (computers & televisions) Under this program operated by the HRMC we are trying to keep lead and mercury out of the recycling center Computer parts, VCR's, DVD players, and stereos. Computer screens & TVs $5.00 Other computer & electronic items $5.00 Large screen TVs & consoles $20.00
6 9. House Hold Hazardous Waste Collection (Regional) Every year on or about November 1st the HRMC host a regional HHW collection. Residents must pre-register and encouraged to bring their HHW materials.
