1 Christian Citizenship & Politics Randy Miller Introduction Liberals prefer that we believe there is no place in History for the words and ideas of our Founding Fathers and that their ideas and actions should no longer be a part of a well-rounded and meaningful education. As strongly as the liberal disbelieve, the Founding Fathers did believe that the Bible should be taught not just in the home but in the schools. They believed the teachings of the Bible were paramount to creating and maintaining a moral, civil, and long standing government and society. Why then, if these new books for children must be retained--as they will be-- should not the Bible regain the place it once held as a school book. Enter the First Amendment and Fisher Ames who issued the final wording of the First Amendment. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of ingredients. But doesn t the Supreme Court backed by the Congress ignore the true meaning of this amendment every time the atheists bring suit before them? Instead, we now see the results of an out of control minority in this country forcing the purging from our school textbooks not just the Godly Heritage of our country, but also the purging of those men of great Learning, who forged this country out of nothing and created a Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Gone is the pride in what they accomplished. Instead we now watch as corruption, civil unrest and self-interest become not our government of choice, but the government we receive from our elected representatives. The Constitution is the body and the letter, when read in the context of the Declaration of Independence, while the Declaration of Independence is the Thought and Spirit of the Constitution. When it comes to determining the intent of the two documents you first must determine the evil they intended to remedy. This makes it pretty straight forward to interpret the two documents regardless of how the liberals try to muddy the waters. They also fail to see how these documents both became

2 godly documents by using Christianity and gods' Law as the form of our government. But these principles are being moved farther and farther away from our government today than ever before, to the extent that soon we won't be able to see them. How has the liberal agenda in this country erased these rights and freedoms, only to be replaced by more government regulation, government intrusion and control over every facet of our lives and the continued stripping away of the rights of freedom and liberty so cherished by the Founding fathers. So where did it all go wrong? Why do the liberals continually try to knock out the pillars of the free society that they enjoy right along with the rest of us? Where do their fears of God and the basic tenets upon which our country was created come from? And are these fears deep enough that the liberals are really willing to surrender their liberties to the elite in power rather than keep it with the people where the least among us will be protected? Liberties once lost are usually lost forever. - Benjamin Franklin Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end it leads to death. In the past sixty years we have seen the political climate and behavior become more and more corrupt and this corruption has taken rights away from citizens in every walk of life, as well as moving us continually further and further away from our Constitution. We continually re-elect the most crooked of the abusers and we continue to lose more rights. Our freedoms and liberty have never been in greater jeopardy than they are today. One need look no further than the way the treasures and assets in this country are wasted on a daily basis. The Perfect Example Corrupt officials such as Congressman Bobby Rush who suffers from Congressional Alzheimer s because he cannot remember how the $400,000 plus in earmarks for the church he founded in the Chicago area Got appropriated. Nor can he recall just how much money from his Campaign financing funds was forwarded to his church. In addition he isn t positive whether he and his wife, both board members, and the rest of the family members working at the church are paid employees or not. Being as he is the only minister in the church we also pick up his travel expenses every week back to Chicago from Washington D.C. so that he can deliver his sermons since he is the only Pastor of record for the church. Regardless of your religious beliefs or lack of same, it is difficult to give any substance to the idea that the Christian foundation of this country has actually hurt non-believers. The principles this country stands on have withstood the test of time

3 as solid bedrock for liberty, freedom and a civil society, which has benefited believers and non-believers alike. Yet the liberals use them on a daily basis to try and remove God and any reference to Him from every facet of our society. These liberals are willing to go so far as to surrender power from the governed, the true foundation of this country, to the power elite. They continually look to government for more and more support without contribution to society. We have now seen the Supreme Court determine that corporations are people too, and as such have the right that you and I have to select our government. The imbalance is how we as public citizens can ever compete against the billions of dollars they will invest in their candidates. The liberals are now seeing the success of their efforts to remove Christians from the conversation. In the records left by our founding fathers at the constitutional convention there can be little doubt as to their belief that only through the teachings of the Bible could we hope to establish a country where liberty and freedom could assure the personal rights of property ownership, religious practices of their choice and the importance of not only teaching these Christian principles in the home but also through the education system. Yet today we see in Texas a valedictorian challenged in court by one agnostic of her right to include a prayer of thanksgiving in her speech to the graduates. That one person who was not forced to participate in this prayer, trying to control and limit the rights of the other hundreds in attendance. He who shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity, will change the face of the world. - Benjamin Franklin Their writings, actions and statements such as John Adams made "The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were...the general principles of Christianity. And still the liberals would deny these writings, statements and mountains of proof that tell without a doubt that Christian principles are what this country was founded on and what makes this country great. If we continue to allow them to erode these principles this Nation will no longer stand for the freedoms it has stood for around the world for the last 235 years; a serious loss, not just to us, but the world as a whole. If we ever forget that we are One Nation under God, then we will be a Nation gone under. - Ronald Reagan

4 It is the founding principles that made this a great country and we risk the decline of our position in this world if we fail to stand up and take the actions necessary to return this country to what it once was and what it was designed to be. As Chief Justice John Jay stated; Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers; and it is the duty - as well as the privilege and interest - of our Christian citizens to select and prefer Christians for our rulers. Where are the Evangelical Christians in all of this decline and corruption? Why are they surrendering to the minority liberal group in this country rather than pushing the election of candidates who live within Christian values and the protection of the Constitution. While the Evangelical Christians in this country outnumber these very liberals by some three to one, are we doing enough to combat their baseless attacks? Is it time for this group to finally stand up and say no more? Is it time that we look at the records and the beliefs of every politician running for office in this country and actively campaign all out to either remove these slaves to the liberal agenda from office. Then to fight to prevent the elections of those who would bring this liberal agenda to Washington with them? We experience the same rights, freedoms and liberty as the liberals to direct the form of government we choose to live under but do we have the courage to stand up and fight the good fight? Today s world government is under the premise that they know better how to care for us than we do for ourselves. In implementing this premise it has become necessary to extinguish Gods' law in favor of Mans' Law. Indeed the purpose of government was to preserve the natural law, including fundamental natural rights and promote peace, security and the public good. In pursuing these ends the rulers were granted powers which they were to exercise as a public trust. But the whole emphasis of natural law was on limiting government power. If government violates the purposes and rules contained in the social compact, if it denied natural rights and abused public trust, the people were justified in resisting and overthrowing it. Opposition writers and their American adherents believed however, that in actuality government power constantly threatened to undermine liberty and that the great enemy of virtue was corruption. They then use these very laws to try to remove God from our society. They don t like or believe in the laws but they are more than ready to use them to control everything we are allowed to do in life. This book is a journey, or quest if you will, through the liberal agenda to see if I can identify what it is they fear about the tenets this country was founded on and what it is that makes them constantly turn the blame back to God for everything

5 they find wrong with it while at the same time they are the first to cry foul if their constitutional rights are violated. I get confused because nobody says they have to believe in a deity, a specific religion or any religion at all and yet they constantly find fault with the natural law of a higher power and they believe that if a law is not man made then it can have no real meaning. They then use these very laws to try to remove God from our society. They don t like or believe in the laws but they are more than ready to use them to control everything we are allowed to do in life. 6 It would be an incomplete discussion of Christian values upon which this country was founded without discussing the Ten Commandments and we will look at them in comparison with the behavior of our elected officials. We will compare the corrupt actions of the members of Congress to these Ten Commandments to show their lack of concern for morals and ethics in government and the total disregard for Stewardship of our assets and resources. 1 Samuel 8; Israel asks for a King. They are turning their backs on God by asking Samuel to appoint a King over them and Samuel tells them all that the Lord said he would do to
