1 Baqua: Filling the Spa 1. Circulate the spa water for at least 15 minutes before adding chemicals. 2. Wait for spa water to reach at least 90 F before adding chemicals. 3. Proper dosage is determined by the number of gallons in your tub. Please refer to the directions on individual products to determine the appropriate amount for your spa. 4. Test levels of total alkalinity and ph. Add ph Increaser or ph Decreaser to ph and Total Alkalinity Increaser to total alkalinity as needed. 5. Test level of calcium hardness. Add Calcium Hardness Increaser to calcium hardness as needed. 6. Add 1-5 oz. of Waterline Control to prevent mineral buildup. 7. Add 1-3 oz. of Stain & Scale Control to keep scale and stain from building on the heater element and spa shell. 8. Add 2-10 oz. of Shock to reduce foam and odors. 9. Add 1-3 oz. of Sanitizer to PPM. 10. Keep the spa cover ON and LOCKED and the air controls closed when not using the spa to keep it warm and ready. Maintenance 1. Test water levels of total alkalinity, ph, and calcium hardness every few days and adjust as necessary. 2. Add ½-2 ½ oz. of Waterline Control. 3. Add ¼ - 1 oz. of Stain & Scale Control. 4. Add 1-5 oz. of Shock for regular use or 2-10 oz. of Shock for high use. (If the spa is used three or more times per week, use the high dosage) 5. Add 1/3-1 2/3 oz. of Sanitizer if the level is LOW or 2/3-3 oz. of Sanitizer if the level is VERY LOW. Clean the filter cartridge at least once a month by soaking in a solution of 16 oz. of Filter Cleaner and 4 gallons of water, then spray it with fresh water to rinse. Replace the filter cartridge every 18 months. Every Three Months 1. Drain water and clean the spa shell every three months with Surface Cleaner, then rinse and polish the shell with Fast Gloss. 2. Clean the spa cover once a month. Every three months polish with 303 Protectant to preserve and protect the vinyl.

3 The goal of this program is clean healthy water. The following instructions are based on average usage (1-2 persons 3 times per week). An increase in bather load will dramatically affect water quality and require chemicals to be added more frequently. Filling the Spa 1. Circulate the spa water for at least 15 minutes before adding chemicals. 2. Add one bottle of Metal Gon to the perimeter of the spa immediately after filling to neutralize iron, copper, and other minerals in the water. 3. Test levels of total alkalinity and ph. Add Spa Up (to increase) or Spa Down (to decrease) to total alkalinity and ph as needed. Optional: add one bottle of ph Balance to help prevent ph drift. 4. Add 1-½ oz. Chlorine, 2-4 Bromine Tablets and 2 oz. Sodium Bromide to a level of 3-5 PPM. (First time spa owners do not have bromine in the starter kits. It may be added later) 5. Keep the spa cover ON and LOCKED and the air controls closed when not using the spa to keep it warm and ready. Maintenance 1. Test water levels of total alkalinity, ph, and bromine every few days and adjust as necessary to maintain a level of ph and a level of 3-5 PPM bromine. Chlorine should be used in addition to bromine when the level on the test strips reads zero (or at times of heavy use). 2. Add 2-4 oz. of Renew or 3-5 tablets of Oz oxidizing shock treatment at least once a week to reduce foam and odors. 3. Add 2 oz. of Bright & Clear or 2 oz. of Scum Gon at least once every other week to keep the water clear. Alternate 2 oz. of Defender at least once every other week to keep scale and stain from building on the heater element and spa shell. Clean the filter cartridge at least once a month by soaking in a solution of 16 oz. of Filter Clean and 4 gallons of water, then spray it with fresh water to rinse. Replace the filter cartridge every 18 months. Instant Cartridge Clean is used as a pretreatment before a soak, or if a full soak is not possible. Every Three Months 1. The Natural: Filling the Spa 1. Circulate the spa water for at least 15 minutes before adding chemicals. 2. Using The Natural with a NEW spa, begin at step 4 with a freshly filled tub. 3. Using The Natural with an OLD spa for the first time: a. All excess build up of contaminants in the spa s system needs to be removed by using The Natural Purge before using The Natural. The Natural Purge only needs to be used one time. Do not use the spa during the purge process. b. Remove the filter. You must keep the filter out of the spa for the entire purge process. Be very sure nothing is floating in the spa during this time. Soak the filter during the purge process in 16 oz. of Filter Clean with 4 gallons of water. c. Using the old water, pour in one 16 oz. bottle of The Natural Purge. If the spa is more than five years old, use two bottles. d. Let the spa circulate for a minimum of eight hours per day for five days. e. After five days, drain the water and flush out the plumbing. To do this, put a hose in the filter area and fill up the foot well of the tub, then drain and clean the well. This will remove any remaining contaminates in the plumbing. f. Refill the spa and put a clean and well rinsed filter back into the spa. 4. Add one bottle of Metal Gon to the perimeter of the spa immediately after filling to neutralize iron, copper, and other minerals in the water.
8 5. Wait for the water to reach at least 90 F. 6. Test levels of total alkalinity and ph. Add Spa Up (to increase) or Spa Down (to decrease) to total alkalinity and ph as needed. DO NOT use ph Balance with The Natural. 7. Add ½ oz. Chlorine to a level of.5 PPM (one half of 1 PPM). 8. Add one 16 oz. bottle of The Natural for spas up to 500 gallons. The Natural is effective ONLY in water over 90 F. 9. Keep the spa cover ON and LOCKED and the air controls closed when not using the spa to keep it warm and ready. Maintenance 1. Test water levels of total alkalinity, ph, and chlorine every few days and adjust as necessary to maintain a level of 8.0 to 8.4 ph and a level of.5 ppm chlorine. (Extra chlorine may be needed after heavy use.) 2. Spray the filter with Instant Cartridge Clean weekly and rinse well. Clean the filter cartridge at least once a month by soaking in a solution of 16 oz. of Filter Clean and 4 gallons of water, then spray it with fresh water to rinse. Replace the filter cartridge every 18 months. Every Three Months 1. Add a new bottle of The Natural every three months. 2. Clean the spa cover and polish with 303 Protectant to preserve and protect the vinyl every three months. Yearly 1. Drain water and clean the spa shell once every year with Multi Purpose Cleaner, then rinse and polish the shell with Fast Gloss. 2. Reseal redwood spa cabinets every year with wood preservative. Additional Notes 1. At this time, it is not recommended to use any liquid fragrances or moisturizers in the spa. Sundance SunScents and Tropical Spa Fruits aromatherapy and SpaZazz Water Color Crystals and InSPAration Spa Pearls are suitable to use. 2. The Natural is a positively charged ion. The tub s surface is a negatively
9 charged ion. Once in a ninety day period they will bond and you may notice a slight film develop on the surface of the tub. To break this bond you can wipe the inside of the tub with a clean cloth, sponge, or your hand. 3. At times you may experience an organic smell or foam. This means The Natural has found contaminants and is working harder. 2-4 oz. Renew or Oz oxidizer will help reduce odors and foam clear up faster. This could also suggest the filter requires more frequent cleanings. Another sign the filter needs more frequent cleanings is a noticeable reduction of jet pressure. 4. At times you may experience cloudiness in the spa. Most cloudiness is caused by oils in the water such as lotions or body oils. To clear this up, rinse the filter well and use 4 oz. of Bright & Clear. If this does not seem to work, adding ½-1 oz. of Chlorine will help The Natural clear up the cloudiness faster. 5. Some towns have unusually high calcium levels in the water. This will require the addition of Defender 2-4 oz. weekly.
