2 2 Skills for life and work Welcome We re always looking for new ways to help you develop your skills. In response to your feedback, we have put together this skills for life and work programme. In this brochure you ll find details of courses, sessions and a booking form. All of the courses we offer are free, we provide refreshments and you ll be able to claim any reasonable travel expenses. Basic tools Monday 1 December 9.30am pm B&Q, Bolton Gate Retail Park, Roundhill Way, Bolton BL1 2SL Learn the basics of using hand tools before starting your project. This workshop will give you a basic understanding and boost your confidence to start those unfinished jobs around your home.

8 8 Skills for life and work Computer courses Computers for beginners Starts Wednesday 1 October - Wednesday 22 October 12.30pm pm, each Wednesday for 4 weeks Brownlow Fold Community Learning Centre, Eskrick Street, Bolton BL1 3EF Learn the basics of using a computer including Microsoft Word and the internet.

9 9 What can I get from a training course? You can: Increase your skills and knowledge. Meet new people. Share experiences and gain confidence. Take home course materials, a certificate and, where appropriate an accreditation or qualification. What you can expect from us When you apply for a course we will: Confirm your booking within 7 days of us receiving your booking request. Provide any necessary equipment or materials you may need for the course. Give you as much notice as possible of any changes to the course. Hold courses in suitable and accessible venues. Provide refreshments where appropriate. Place you on a waiting list if the course you requested is fully booked. On completion of the course we will: Provide you with a certificate of achievement. Ask you for your feedback on how you found the course. Provide further or follow on training if we can and if requested.

10 10 Skills for life and work We expect you to: Where possible, let us know at least 48 hours before the course starts if you are unable to attend. (If you are unwell on the day please call and let a member of the team know.) Let us know if you have any specific requirements including dietary, mobility, translation, transport or travel expenses, childcare or dependant care. Arrive at the venue on time on the day of the course. Make every effort to attend each session of the course. Behave in a polite and appropriate manner during the course adhering to the Code of Conduct. (Available on request). Let us know if you do not want to be photographed/ filmed during the course.
