3 School Profile ACA is a private K -12 school that teaches an American curriculum to predominately Kuwaiti students ACA students are ESL learners We have two campuses separated by gender. The Boys campus has male & female instructors. The Girls campus only female teachers and administrators Islam and Arabic are taught by native Arabic speakers The school calendar runs 175 days as required by the Kuwait Ministry of Private Education (Sept. thru Mid-June) ACA does not offer Music ACA is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools and Middle States Association

8 Extra Curricular ACA is a member of KSSA, a governing body that oversees athletic and academic competition between member private schools Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, etc. All KSSA responsibilities are compensated with a stipend Academic Games, Model United Nations, Forensics etc. ACA requires all staff to provide a 4 week club activity - After-School Clubs are run two times per week for 60 minutes. Activities include: organized games, art, cooking, ping-pong, pong, chess club etc.

9 Teaching Load Teachers currently instruct approx. 25/35 periods per week Teachers average a minimum of two 50 minute preparation periods per teaching day

Q: What is life like for Western women, do I have to cover with a head h scarf? A: Modest dress is the rule of thumb, western women are not expected to wear the traditional hijab,, or head scarf. Q: Is it safe? A: Kuwait is located in the Middle East and therefore, western interests are on a heightened state of alert. Westerners are told to be vigilant and exercise common sense. There have been no terrorist attacks on civilian workers since 2001.

20 Get out an ride, jog or stroll down the walking path along the beautiful Arabian Gulf The Gulf Road winds scenically along the Arabian Gulf. It is a popular outdoor activity area. Kuwaitis and Expats enjoy restaurants, the walking path, coffee shops, patios, shopping, a marina, and the beaches along this stretch.

21 Restaurants along the Gulf There are countless restaurants in Kuwait, Western cuisine, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican. Chain Restaurants include: McDonald s, Hardee s, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut. Others include: TGIFridays, Chillis, Fuddruckers, Applebee s, Baskin Robins, etc. Don t forget all the local favorites Lebanese and Indian!
