2 AviLighting Products used for Broiler Breeder Pullets, Broiler Chicken Progeny & Turkey Poults AviLighting Feeder Light (Product # AHP-411): - Produces bright light (>15fc) over feeders with minimum wiring. - Minimum natural white light at water is 4fc (4 to either side of light). - Purpose: Attract birds to light around the feeder. - Normal usage: Either continuous, intermittent or cycled over 24hr diurnal cycle. AviLighting Water Light (Product # AHP-414): - Produces bright light (>30fc) underneath water lines onto feed trays or paper. - Purpose: Superior attraction of birds to light underneath water lines and onto feed trays or paper. Feed must be present in trays or on paper. - Normal usage: Post-hatch placement to hours. AviLighting Control Pan Feeder Light (Product # AHP-412): - Produces bright light (>75fc) over control pan feeders with minimum wiring. - Purpose: Superior attraction of birds to the control pan feeder over standard feeders. - Normal usage: Either continuous or ON during house light usage. 3 Justification Overall AviLighting Products Objectives When all three products are used together: a. Provides priority bird attraction to both feed and watering areas (at different time periods with controlled scheduling)... b. Provides superior priority bird attraction to Control Pan Feeders to prevent feeding interruption c. Eliminate starve outs (litter eaters). d. Eliminate early mortality due to dehydration (birds not able to find water nipples). e. Eliminate feed tray to feed pan transition issues. f. 7 Lighting Management Program: Other measures: a. Critical TRANSITION times periods: a. From hatch to water & feed consumption b. From feed trays to feed pans b. Leave feed trays/paper down as normal. a. Either feed trays or paper with feed present MUST stay beneath water lines for a minimum of 4 days c. Feed pans are filled with feed, as normal starting at placement d. Partial house brooding, temperature, and management as normal. 7

8 Early Dehydration Mortality Issues: The majority of early (4-day) non-infectious mortality occurs due to dehydration. Dehydration is easily remedied, not predestined. a. Research to date (March 2015) indicates that broiler breeder pullets, broiler progeny and turkeys have difficulty in locating nipples on 360 o nipple rod drinkers. b. Less than 10% of birds usually locate water nipples within 48hr post-hatch; thus, creating the potential of early mortality and subsequent morbidity issues (mainly reduced body weight uniformity at market or inconsistent sexual maturity). c. Immediately following bird placement into a brooding facility, bird attraction to AviLighting Water Lights (>75%) and therefore to BOTH feeder trays/paper and water nipple lines will promote nipple usage. d. 24-hr post-placement, birds must begin the difficult process of transcending from feed trays or feed on degradable paper to feed pans. a. Alternating between AviLighting Feeder Lights and AviLighting Water Lights (each 4hrs over the 24-96hr post-placement period) will eliminate body weight uniformity issues during this critical transition period. 8
