1 Installing HTML extract of ASAP Roadmap at the customer site Introduction: SAP delivers ASAP Roadmaps in SAP Solution Manager and in HTML format. The HTML format version of the roadmap works independently of any SAP tool and can be installed both on local machine or shared with larger number of users on network share or installed onto a company Intranet or team portal. User of HTML version of the roadmap requires HTML browser, MS Office, WinZIP or similar program and PDF viewer. This document outlines steps for installation of the roadmap on network share, but the principles can be applied for installation onto the company intranet server or group/company portal. Note that HTML roadmap is recommended as a reference material and does not provide functionality for managing project. The roadmap delivers detailed description of the process for your project, but does not offer functionality to perform project management activities.. Download the HTML extract package from SAP In this step we will download roadmap package from SAP. You can download the standard roadmap from SAP Service Marketplace or you may have received a link from your SAP Project Manager to SAPMats where is copy of roadmap that has been customized to fit your project scope. Text below will show steps to download roadmap from SAP Service Marketplace. The sequence is the same as for the download from SAPMats. Open /roadmaps alias in SAP Service Marketplace (

2 Select roadmap that meets your project type (e.g. Implementation, Template, Upgrade, etc.). Follow the link and download the roadmap ZIP package to your PC. Extract roadmap package to network share In this step we will extract the ZIP package to the network share. You will need sufficient space on the network share that you can obtain from the ZIP file when you open it. Depending on the version of your compression software the complete size after expansion will be shown on the status bar or through Info button as shown on the next picture. You can estimate the amount of required space by using compression ratio of 50-60% for the ZIP files. Note that you can not browse the roadmap when it is still in ZIP file. You will need to extract the files to directory structure to access the content. While the package is being downloaded you can prepare the target location for the HTML Roadmap. Open the network share and create new directory where you will store the roadmap. Once the ZIP package is downloaded to your PC you can open it and extract it to the directory you created. Make sure that the extract preserves the directory structure of the ZIP file.

3 Note that the dialog shown below may look different in your copy of extraction software. Always make sure that the roadmap directory structure is preserved while extracting the roadmap.

4 When the documents are extracted in target directory you can proceed to the next step. Create shortcut for roadmap users for quick access The HTML Roadmap directory structure is very large and for many users it may be hard to navigate. We recommend that the person building the network share extract creates a Shortcut that will help users launch the roadmap in their browser and eliminate need for navigation through the directory structure. First locate the index.htm file on top level of the directory structure that was created during the extraction process it is in the directory with many subdirectories with long numbers as folder names. Right click on the index.hml and select menu item Create Shortcut

5 When the shortcut is created, make sure that the path to the index.htm is in format \\server\share\directory_path\index.htm instead of E:\folder\folder\index.htm as the later will not work for other users unless they mapped the shared drive as drive E:\ in their system. You may need to edit the shortcut to correct the path. Now you can rename the shortcut give it name of your project or name it same as the type of the roadmap it links to (e.g. ASAP Implementation Complete View). Copy shortcut to your desktop and test that it launches the roadmap in HTML browser. You may want to un-map the shared drive for this test to make sure that the link works. We recommend that you navigate through few nodes to make sure that the extract works fine. You may also want to test launching of few accelerators or role description files to assure that accelerators are accessible. Now you can copy the shortcut to , send it to your project team and instruct them to place it on their desktop.
