1 A teacher s guide for achieving the best results.
2 STAR Enterprise allows teachers to: Identify which students are reaching benchmark and which need intervention. Print reports with information about grouping for targeted instruction and practice. Identify what skills students are ready to learn. Determine prerequisite skills students need to understand the current lesson.
3 Plots students progress toward a goal. Gives teachers an early warning of which students may be at risk of not meeting state proficiency requirements. Determines whether students are mastering state and Common Core State Standards. Provides longitudinal data to help identify trends, patterns, and effectiveness across the district.
4 Used as a quick screener, AR placement, and progress monitoring. Advanced assessment that measures 36 reading skills in five domains: Vocabulary Development Understanding Text Reading Process Literary Analysis Evaluating Text
5 Easy to administer, and generates accurate results. Offers new skills-based testing, new content and new reports. STAR Math tests general math achievement in four broad domains: Numbers and operations Algebra Geometry and measurement Data analysis, statistics, and probability

7 The Class Instructional Planning Report helps teachers use data to inform instruction. This report and proper planning will help teachers provide regular practice and instruction at the right level and on the right skills essential for mastery.
8 For student requiring additional help, you will need to start an intervention and set goals. Interventions and goals are set for individual students, and can only be set after a student has taken his or her first STAR Enterprise test in either Reading or Math.
9 1. Click Screening, Progress Monitoring & Intervention in the STAR task list on the Home page. 2. Use the School drop-down list to choose a school, if necessary. 3. Click Progress Monitoring & Goals. 4. In the Search for Student area of the screen A, you can enter all or part of a student s name in the appropriate fields to use as search criteria, or you can enter the student s ID number. You may also use the Grade or Class drop-down lists to narrow your search to students in a particular grade or class. 5. Click Search B. 6. A list of students matching your search criteria will be presented C. Students who fit your search criteria but have not taken a test yet will have a dash shown in place of a PR score.
10 Click on the name of the student.
11 Set up, edit or create interventions and goals.
12 The student s name and school The date of the most recent STAR test The student s scaled score and percentile rank The student s growth rate (if the student has five or more scores) In this screen you will either set an Intervention and Goal or edit and Intervention and Goal. (Notice the title.)
13 In the Intervention Name field, type the title for the intervention. Select the date by which you want the student to reach the goal. In the goal section, use the starting test dropdown list to choose which test should serve as the student s starting test information. Two calculations are automatically performed. The number of scaled score points the student needs to gain each week to maintain percentile rank. The number of scaled score points the student would have to gain each week to maintain benchmark. When you are done click SAVE.
14 Click Screening, Progress Monitoring & Intervention in the STAR Reading or Math task list. Identify the school in the school drop-down list. Click Progress Monitoring under Reports. Select the options you want to customize for this report. Click View Report when you have finished. Click Save or Print.

16 This report is primarily for teachers. You ll find it under Reports in STAR Math or STAR Reading. This report helps you measure growth and periodically evaluate whether a student is on course to meet the proficiency standards of your state in reading and math. It graphs a student s STAR scores. You can also include a trend line that projects the student s growth.
17 Student s STAR scores = Blue diamonds Student s trend line = black line Proficiency threshold = gold star Pathway to proficiency = green line
18 For a student with three or more STAR assessments, look at the student s trend line. Compare the trend line to the pathway to proficiency. Compare a student s latest score to the proficiency threshold ( ). Through the end of the year, monitor growth for all students, regardless of level.
19 The purpose is to compare each student s scores and projected growth at the time of the last assessment to the trajectory of a typical student who will reach the proficiency threshold. Adjustments in instruction may be necessary. If a student has only taken one or two tests, there is not enough data to show a trend line.
20 For purposes of RtI, multiple data points must be collected. Once an intervention is determined for a child, a child must be progress monitored a minimum of every three weeks to determine effectiveness. STAR Enterprise will identify weaknesses in GLE and skill acquisition, with recommendations for interventions.
