SOUND OF PEACE Festival on the International Day Of Peace The date September 21st is dedicated as International Day of Peace by the United Nations also is an official founding date of Young Peace Initiative Association. The Festival of Sound of Peace which was organized by MasterPeace in Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park was supported by us as GBİ on the International Day of Peace at 21st of September. Young Peace Initiative Association had the right to be a participant of the United Nations Global Compact Network. We are glad and proud to be part of this Global Network and Unity which also includes a great deal of World-Class Companies and Non- Governmental Organizations as well. 2

3 365 DAYS OF PEACE WITH 365 CLOVE A VISIT TO THE CHAIRMAN of SDE, BİROL AKGÜN The Kayseri Coordinatorship of Young Peace Initiative has distributed 365 pieces of cloves, having peaceful words written in it by globally known philosophers, on the purposes of both celebrating the 21st of September which is an International Day Of Peace; also realizing a dream of a nation having 365 days of peace in a year and giving peace messages on a regional and national extent. Young Peace Initiative Association had paid a visit to The Institute of Strategic Thinking (SDE). At the meeting which was taken place at SDE Headquarter, GBİ Ankara City Coordinator, Ahmet Cahit Sarıcalar; GBİ Çorum City Coordinator, Faruk Ardoğan, and Ankara Directors of the Organization, Bahadır Nesil have conducted a conversation with the SDE Chairman, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün. Young Peace Initiative Association was introduced, its fields of activities and events were discussed, Young Peace Youth Magazine of Ideas and Research was presented, and consultation was held by our representatives for the universal peace at the meeting. 3

4 GBI Sunday Conversations Guest for This Month is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şakir Dinçşahin GBI FREE CHAIR HAS STARTED IN ISTANBUL EMPATHY FOR LIVING TOGETHER Yeditepe University Faculty Member Prof. Doc. Dr. Şakir Dinçşahin was hosted within the scope of Sunday Conversations which is carried out monthly by GBİ Headquarter. The topics related with the agenda of Turkey, world politics, current affairs in the Middle East and Turkish Foreign Policy were discussed at the meeting. The initial Free Chair of Young Peace Initiative Association s working period was convened with the participant of youths who are coming from various universities in Istanbul. The topic Empathy for Living Together was discussed in detail and ideas were announced on the concepts such as toleration, differences, understanding of each other and necessities of being a society at the Free Chair meeting. The Free Chair activities that are organized by the GBİ Coordinators of working together with the Headquarter periodically, where the participants opinions is going to become a written report, will continue to take place particularly in Istanbul and several cities in Turkey. 4

5 GBI ANKARA IS AT THE KOCATEPE YOUTH EXPO FREE CHAIR FROM GBI ANKARA GBI Ankara Coordinatorship has represented GBI by opening a stand at the Kocatepe Youth Expo which was organized between the date of October 13-17th. As well as GBI Ankara Coordinatorship, many non-governmental organizations from all over Turkey is also involved in the Expo, and both GBI and Young Peace Youth Magazine of Ideas and Research have been introduced. GBI Ankara has performed the initial free chair of working period between Coordinately with the Headquarter, the topic was Empathy for Living Together. The concept of empathy, prejudices and culture of toleration were discussed at the Free Chair which was actualized with many youth participants from different universities in Ankara. 5

6 GBI WAS A VISITOR OF SIRRI ER at TRT The Chairman of GBİ, Emre Akkaş and the Director of Media and Publicity of GBİ, Fatih Kafadar have appeared as an on-air guest to the program called About Life and both produced and presented by Sırrı Er in October 23th of Young Peace Initiative Association s working fields and especially, Project of Living Together From an Individual to a Society which was occured by the support of The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkish Republic were discussed at the program with the participant of Psychologist, Dr. Ayhan Akcan. 5TH EDITION OF YOUNG PEACE MAGAZINE WAS PUBLISHED For the procurement to the printed copy of the 5th edition of Young Peace Youth, Magazine of Ideas and Research, please send your mails including your name, surname, phone number and address to dergi@gbi.org.tr Note: We are sending free Magazines. 7 A PROJECT CAMP OF LIVING TOGETHER FROM AN INDIVIDUAL TO A SOCIETY Young Peace Initiative(GBİ) has organized a 4 day camp in Istanbul with in the scope of a Project of Living Together From an Individual to a Society which was carried out by the support of The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkish Republic. The camp held between the date of October 24-27th, 2014 and it was completed with the participants of 55 students who were attended the Project from 33 different universities out of 28 different cities. Inorder to prevent conflicts the Project of Living Together From an Individual to a Society ; aimed to provide a contribution to a social structure that gives an opportunity towards individuals who are belonging to different cultures and cultural identities by enabling them to live together. There is an increase of awareness abput the concept of living together towards youths who are coming from the four corners of Turkey as a result of a 3 day training which was given by one of the UNICEF consultants and the founders of Conflictus Elif Kalan, Dilara Gök, Tunç Karaçay and the chairman of the International Cultural Research Center. Assoc.Prof.Dr. İlhan Kaya. The continuity of this Project has foreseen fort he panels that will be conducted at the 7 region of Turkey during next 6 months. In this process youths were attended to the camp in Istanbul will become a speaker with the presence of a moderator at the forthcoming regional panels. The panels will be supported with the presence of a moderator at the forthcoming regional panels. The panels will be supported with the publicities such as brochure, booklet, poster and social media aimed to reach approximately 1400 youths around whole regions of Turkey. 7
