1 FDOT Broward County Traffic Impact Report October 7 through October 14, 2016 FORT LAUDERDALE -- Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the week of October 7 through October 14. Weather permitting and depending on the impacts of Hurricane Matthew, work will be done at the following locations throughout the county. For updated lane closure information, please refer to Follow us on INTERSTATE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS 1. I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard in Broward County Up to three southbound lanes of I-95 from Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County to the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County will be closed as needed Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance. Up to three northbound lanes of I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County will be closed as needed Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance. Northbound and southbound express lanes will be closed as needed for plastic pole repair from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday. Driver should use the non-tolled general use lanes. Description: This project will extend the High Occupancy Toll Express lanes from northern Miami-Dade County north 13 miles to Fort Lauderdale. The project includes installing Intelligent Transportation System components; modifying the Ives Dairy Road interchange; bridge widening at specific locations and installing new noise barrier walls at locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street. Cost/Completion: The construction cost is $120 million. Completion is expected fall I-95 from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale
2 Three lanes of northbound I-95 will be closed Sunday through Thursday, with the first lane closing at 10:30 p.m., the second lane closing at 11:30 p.m. and the third lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m. The I-95 northbound direct connect exit ramp to the Broward Boulevard Park and Ride lot will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via Broward Boulevard and I-95. The I-95 northbound direct connect entrance ramp from the Broward Boulevard Park and Ridge lot will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via Broward Boulevard and I-95. The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. through November. (One lane of the ramp will close at 10 p.m. nightly). Traffic will be detoured via Sunrise Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol will be on scene to assist motorists. The shoulder of the I-95 northbound exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. through November. Description: This project will extend the High Occupancy Toll lanes from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard in Broward County. The scope of work includes adding a lane and converting the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to create two express lanes in each direction. Other work includes: installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and tolling equipment; widening bridges; and installing noise barrier walls at locations along I- 95 Southbound between Broward Boulevard and NW 6 th Street, and along I-95 Northbound between Powerline Road and Commercial Boulevard. Completion is expected in spring I-95 Interchange from Hillsboro Boulevard to SW 10 th Street The I-95 southbound exit ramp to SW 10 th Street will be fully closed Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists can detour via Hillsboro Boulevard. Traffic on the I-95 southbound exit ramp to SW 10 th Street has been shifted to the east to accommodate the ramp widening. The outside lanes of I-95 southbound between Hillsboro Boulevard and SW 10 th Street will be closed Sunday through Friday with the first lane closing at 9 p.m., the second lane closing at 10 p.m. and the third lane, if necessary, closing at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. Two westbound lanes of SW 10 th Street at I-95 will be closed Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The sidewalk on the north side of SW 10 th Street between SW 12 th Avenue and SW Natura Boulevard is closed through December Signs are in place to direct pedestrians to the south sidewalk. Description: This project consists of widening southbound I-95 to add an auxiliary lane from the Hillsboro Boulevard entrance ramp to the SW 10 th Street exit ramp, widening the existing southbound I-95 exit ramp to SW 10 th Street, addition of a free flow right turn lane to westbound SW 10 th Street, widening of westbound SW 10 th Street to add an acceleration lane, utility relocation, milling and resurfacing, bridge widening, installation of barrier walls, curbs, sidewalks, guardrail, drainage, overhead signs, signing and pavement markings, signals, lighting, and retaining walls. This is the first of five interchange improvement projects throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Segment D (South of Sheridan Street to North of Griffin Road) o One lane in each direction of I-75 from south of Sheridan Street to north of Griffin Road may be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. o One lane in each direction of Sheridan Street at I-75 may be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
6 o Two lanes in either direction of Sheridan Street at I-75 may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. o Two lanes in either direction of I-75 from south of Sheridan Street to north of Griffin Road may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. o The ramp from northbound I-75 to Sheridan Street West (Exit 11A) may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured to exit at Sheridan Street East (Exit 11A), go east and make a U-turn at Flamingo Road to go west on Sheridan Street. Alternate detour routes include Griffin Road or Pines Boulevard. o The ramp from southbound I-75 to Sheridan Street East (Exit 11A) may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists will be detoured to exit at Sheridan Street West (Exit 11B), go west on Sheridan Street and make a U-turn at SW 162 nd Avenue to continue east on Sheridan Street. o All northbound lanes of I-75 at Sheridan Street will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 11 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 12. Motorists will be detoured to exit at Sheridan Street East (Exit 11A) and do east to Flamingo Road, north on Flamingo Road to Griffin Road and west on Griffin Road to re-enter I-75 northbound. If necessary to complete the work, these lane closures will also take place from 11 p.m. Sunday, October 9 to 6 a.m. Monday, October 10. o All southbound lanes of I-75 at Sheridan Street will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday, October 13 to 6 a.m. Friday, October 14. Motorists will be detoured to exit at Sheridan Street West (Exit 11B), go west and make a U-turn at SW 162 nd Avenue to go east on Sheridan Street and re-enter I- 75 southbound. If necessary to complete this work, these lane closures will also take place from 11 p.m. Sunday, October 16 to 6 a.m. Monday, October 17. Segment E (North of Griffin Road to I-595) o Two northbound lanes of I-75 north of Indian Trace will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. o Two eastbound lanes of I-595 just west of SW 136 th Avenue will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. o Two southbound lanes of I-75 at the I-595 interchange will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. o One southbound lane of I-75 from north of Indian Trace to north of Royal Palm Boulevard will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. o Two southbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway north of the I-595 interchange will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
7 o Two northbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway at I-595 will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. o One lane of the I-595 westbound ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. o One westbound lane of State Road 84 from Flamingo Road to SW 136 th Avenue will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. o Two northbound lanes of I-75 north of South Post Road will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. o Two northbound lanes of I-75 north of Indian Trace will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Segment E (I-75 Northbound Lane Balancing Project) o Two northbound lanes of I-75 from north of Royal Palm Boulevard to north of Indian Trace will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. o Two northbound lanes of I-75 from north of Royal Palm Boulevard to I- 595 will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. o Three northbound lanes of I-75 from north of Royal Palm Boulevard to north of Indian Trace will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. o Three northbound lanes of I-75 from north of Royal Palm Boulevard to I- 595 will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. o Two northbound lanes of I-75 from north of Indian Trace along northbound Sawgrass Expressway and eastbound I-595 ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. o Two southbound lanes of I-75 from Indian Trace to Sawgrass Expressway will be closed Monday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Description: This 15-mile project will add four tolled managed lanes in the I-75 median from NW 170 th Street in northern Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County. The work will be completed in four segments to minimize the impact to the public. This project includes entrance and exit access points to the express lanes; a bridge with a direct connection to 595 Express; integrated Intelligent Transportation System and tolling components; noise barrier walls at various locations and new signage, lighting, drainage and landscaping improvements. 8 Northbound traffic is shifted slightly west toward the center of the road. Southbound traffic will remain on the west side of the road. Traffic will be in this configuration through March 2017, while the contractor completes the reconstruction of the east side of the road. Two lanes will be open in each direction. Access from northbound Galt Ocean Drive to A1A will be restricted through March Motorists may access A1A via NE 41 st Street, NE 36 th Street and NE 35 th Street. One northbound lane of A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Road may be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage improvements. Description: Project improvements include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway within the project limits; upgrading sidewalks and ramps to meet ADA requirements; repairing, adjusting, and replacing drainage structures throughout the project limits; upgrading the following existing intersections to mast arm signals: 34th Street, mid-block between 36th and 40th Street, and at 40th Street; upgrading all existing pedestrian signals to countdown timers; upgrading signs and pavement markings throughout the project limits, including adding a 1.5 foot striped buffer to separate the four foot wide bike lanes from the outside vehicle travel lane; upgrading existing lighting along the corridor to lighting with a variable intensity function that can be accessed remotely in order to cause minimal disruption to sea turtles during their nesting season; adding elevated roadway lighting and lower level lighting to illuminate the sidewalk, and adding a business access drive aisle along the east side of road between NE 34th and NE 36th Street. A flag crew will assist motorists through the work zone. One lane in each direction of A1A from SE 3 rd Street to NE 7 th Street may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for road work. A flag crew will maintain access to all side streets and direct traffic through the work area. Description: Project improvements include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway within the project limits, widening the roadway along A1A to accommodate five foot bike lanes, upgrading drainage within the project limits, upgrading sidewalks and ramps to meet ADA requirements, upgrading existing pedestrian signals to countdown timers at Hillsboro Blvd and upgrading signs and pavement markings throughout the project limits. 9 One northbound lane of A1A from Las Olas Boulevard to Sebastian Street will be closed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for concrete removal, curb and gutter installation, sidewalk construction, concrete paver resetting, sign installation, pedestrian signal installation, and drainage structure and pipe installation. One southbound lane of A1A / Seabreeze Boulevard from Bahia Mar to Banyan Street will be closed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for concrete removal, curb and gutter installation, sidewalk construction, concrete paver resetting, sign installation, pedestrian signal installation, and drainage structure and pipe installation. One lane in each direction of Sunrise Boulevard from the Intracoastal Waterway bridge to A1A will be closed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for concrete removal, curb and gutter installation and drainage work. Description: The improvements under this project consist of removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway within the project limits, upgrading sidewalks and ramps to meet ADA requirements, upgrading all existing pedestrian signals to countdown timers, upgrading signs and pavement markings throughout the project limits, widening Sunrise Boulevard to accommodate four-foot wide bike lanes in each direction, modifying pavement striping and markings to provide shared use or dedicated bike lanes on A1A, and adding in-roadway lighting at several crosswalks. Completion in spring NW 9th Avenue / Powerline Road Improvements Project from Broward Boulevard to NW 6th Street / Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale NW 9th Avenue / Powerline Road from NW 3rd Street to NW 5th Street will be open to local traffic only Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage improvements. Motorists will be detoured as follows: o Northbound NW 9 th Avenue will be detoured to NW 7 th Avenue. o Southbound NW 9 th Avenue will be detoured to NW 7 th Avenue or NW 11 th Avenue. o NW 4 th Street will be detoured to NW 2 nd Street or NW 5 th Street. Description: Project improvements include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway and upgrading signs and pavement markings, upgrading crosswalk ramps to meet ADA requirements and upgrading existing pedestrian signals, adding sharrow pavement markings (share the road arrows) to the travel lane in each direction from NW 1st Street to NW 4th Street, widening the existing roadway to add six-foot wide bike lanes in each direction from NW 4th Street to NW 6th Street / Sistrunk Boulevard, adding pedestrian solar lighting, adding new concrete curb and gutter and improving roadway drainage system, constructing new eight-foot wide sidewalks, upgrading existing traffic signals to pole mounted signals, and improving landscaping. Completion in summer Broward Boulevard Improvements and Bridge Replacement Project in Fort Lauderdale Two westbound lanes of Broward Boulevard from NW 15th Avenue to NW/SW 18th Avenue will be closed Monday through Friday evenings, with the first lane closing at 10 p.m. and the second lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 6 a.m. Two eastbound lanes of Broward Boulevard from NW/SW 18th Avenue to NW 15th Avenue will be closed Tuesday through Thursday evenings, with the first lane closing at 10 p.m. and the second lane closing at 12:30 a.m. until 6 a.m. Description: Project improvements include replacing the bridge over the North Fork of the New River, removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, upgrading crosswalk ramps to meet ADA requirements, upgrading signs and pavement markings, relocating bus shelters, adding roadway lighting, installing drainage structures, upgrading signalized intersections to mast arms, reconstructing sidewalks, and widening roadway to add bike lanes in each direction. CSX Bridge Replacement over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale The outside shoulder of the eastbound I-595 exit ramp to northbound I-95 is closed through early There will be intermittent interruptions in the channel for marine traffic while contractor performs some activities with the bridge in the lowered position. The bridge will open when a vessel approaches, but there may be short delays. Description: Project improvements include replacing the existing South Florida Rail Corridor CSX Railroad rolling lift bridge just west of I-95 over the south fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale. Completion in early Broward Mobility Project One lane in each direction of Pine Island Road from State Road 84 to Broward Boulevard will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for pavement marking.
11 One lane in each direction of Nob Hill Road from State Road 84 to Broward Boulevard will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for pavement marking. Up to two lanes in each direction of SW 10 th Street from Natura Boulevard to Dixie Highway will be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for resurfacing.
