MAX course material Excel 2010 topics
Korte samenvatting van specifieke onderwerpen over Excel. Excel Databases, lists & tables, Pivot Tables, Charts, Macros & Visual Basic, Linking (to Powerpoint), Logical Functions, Financial Features Willemstad, augustus 2014 MAX
Excel Databases, lists & tables Set up and maintain data lists with Excel data tools. Organize data, extract specific information and make calculations by sorting, filtering and using database functions. Turn on additional functionality by converting a list to a table Create and manage databases in Excel and use tools to obtain information and results from the stored data. Create fields and enter records Use tools to perform maintenance and control data entry Sort to organize data Build queries to filter and extract specific records Use database functions to run calculations on the data Format a list as a table to enable additional features Pivot tables Quickly summarize and analyze large amounts of data in Excel. Still too much data to show the big picture? Chart the data with just a few clicks. Deploy one of Excel s most powerful data analyzing tools. Create and manage Pivot tables and present the data graphically using Pivot charts Drag list fields to create a Pivot table layout Reposition the fields to quickly change the layout Use the extensive calculation and data filtering possibilities Create Pivot charts based on existing Pivot tables Format the Pivot table and chart in a number of different ways pagina 1
Charts Excel is commonly used in storing various (financial) data. It is used in determining business profits and loss, helps in calculating reimbursement plans for mortgages, as well as figuring the minimum, maximum, and average values in a particular range of data. Excel is also useful in analyzing various statistics and data trends with the use of charts along with graphs. Why use a chart? Simplify the analysis of a mass of data, be able to compare the data, quickly analyze the trends in data series, analyze proportions among different data series. Use your results in Powerpoint with linking. Your presentation is updated when data changes. create charts types of charts adding labels, text format charts for more information see example lesson Macros & Visual Basic Excel incorporates the programming language Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) as an aid to create re-usable sequences of instructions to automate repetitive and complex tasks. These stored instructions are called macros, and this topic introduces and develops Excel VBA macro programming. record macro's and run macro's in VBA add command buttons, a combo box or check box first steps in VB programming for more information see example lessons Linking (to Powerpoint) Need to copy your Excel figures and charts to a Word document or PowerPoint presentation? When the data in Excel changes, how can you update them in Word or PowerPoint? Link Excel data and charts to other applications and update them instantly when making changes in Excel. Use Paste Special between Excel, Word and PowerPoint Embed or Link Excel data and charts to Word or PowerPoint Update linked or embedded Excel data and charts Manage existing links, restore lost links Use Hyperlinks to connect to Excel data pagina 2
Logical functions Want Excel to take actions on its own? Specify a condition to be tested by Excel and the program will perform an action automatically based on the outcome of the test. These actions can range from producing a simple text message to performing complex calculations. Use logical functions to automate your spreadsheet and watch Excel do the work. Use IF functions to specify conditions to be tested by Excel Create nested IF for more complex testing Combine IF with AND/OR/NOT to add further capability Test and calculate simultaneously in a single function by using: SUMIF, AVERAGEIF, COUNTIF and others Financial features Have full control over Excel s value formatting possibilities, including creating your own custom number formats and set advanced options for working with numbers. Work with financial formulas and functions in Excel. Present and work with monetary values in the best way possible. In-depth knowledge of number, currency, accounting and percentage formatting Create your own custom number formatting Set advanced options to control the input and presentation of numbers Deploy functions from the financial category pagina 3
