1 Accommodation at ILSC Vancouver ILSC offers several accommodation options to help meet a variety of student needs. Further information can be obtained about any of the options by contacting ILSC s Homestay Department by at homestayinfo@ilsc.ca. Please note that there is a $ Placement Fee for all of the programs listed below, which is due in advance to confirm booking. HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION Homestay accommodation is our most popular program at ILSC Vancouver. The Homestay Program provides our students with the opportunity to learn English by living with a Canadian family. The most rewarding aspect of the homestay option is that students, in addition to practicing the language they came to study, have the opportunity to experience Canadian culture through music, television, food, etc. while living with a Canadian family. ILSC offers safe and welcoming homestay families, many of whom have been hosting ILSC students since our school began. Homestay includes a private bedroom with three meals per day. Most of our homestay families are located in Vancouver and Burnaby, approximately 45 minutes by public transit from ILSC campuses. 2 HALF-BOARD HOMESTAY The Half-Board Homestay program is for students who would like to have a little more independence and freedom in terms of their everyday lunch. The Half-Board Homestay Program allows the student to live with the family, just like regular homestay, but it only includes 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner. Snacks are available after dinner for the students. The students are responsible for purchasing their own lunch every day. Other than having no lunch provided in the Half-Board Homestay program, the details and benefits are identical to the Homestay Accommodation. 3 ROOMSTAY ACCOMMODATION ILSC is one of the first schools to offer Roomstay Accommodation. Roomstay provides our students with the option of renting a bedroom from a family. Meals are not included in the package, and students will be responsible for purchasing all their own groceries, beverages, cooking supplies, (including seasonings, oil, dishwashing liquid, etc.) toiletries, (including toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.) Students will be placed with a homestay family and will have a private bedroom. The homestay family will not cook for the students, but they will have access to the kitchen to prepare their own meals. In most cases, the student will be sharing the kitchen with the homestay family. Most roomstay families live approximately 45 minutes by public transit from ILSC. 4 ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION There are five selected accommodations located in downtown Vancouver with whom ILSC has a good business relationship. Alternative accommodation will provide a room with bed(s), desk, private or shared bathroom, and in some cases, use of Internet. **NOTE: The Alternative Accommodations prices are subject to change without notice. Therefore, it is important to check with ILSC s Homestay office to confirm price and availability Marriott Residence Inn The Marriott Residence Inn is an alternative to the hotel option. The Marriott offers an apartment style accommodation with your very own kitchen and bathroom. They offer highspeed Internet access and a wonderful breakfast buffet, included in your room cost. Hearthroom Breakfast Buffet Hours: Monday to Friday: 6:30am 9:30am Saturday, Sunday & Holidays: 7:00 am 10:00am The Marriott is in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, 10 minutes away from ILSC. You will be close to shopping, entertainment and to the many attractions Vancouver offers. They offer an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre. 6 Delta Vancouver Hotel This 4-star hotel is in the waterfront area of downtown Vancouver and is located 1.5 short blocks from our Vancouver campus. The 226 suites on 23 floors offer views of downtown Vancouver, the waterfront and the North Shore mountains. Their modern rooms have large sized windows and are bright inside. The hotel also offers a restaurant, lounge, full size business centre and a fully equipped exercise room. 7 YWCA The Vancouver YWCA Hotel/Residence is one if the finest YWCA accommodation facilities in North America. It is 10 minutes away from ILSC on foot and downtown s entertainment and sports scene is at the doorstep. The YWCA welcomes both male and female guests from all over the world. Guests are not required to have a YWCA or YMCA membership. Each room has a refrigerator and sink, and there is a shared kitchen, (utensils, pots and dishes not provided,) television lounges and a coin laundry available for the guests. Unlimited use of the Fitness Centre (15 minutes walking distance) for a monthly fee. The in-room telephone is open to receive local and long distance calls. Residents may pay a $30.00 monthly user fee for outgoing telephone use. All rates subject to 10% Provincial Room Tax. Other room types are also available. 8 A FEW REMINDERS Prices are subject to change without notice. Prices do not include the 5% GST and 10% room tax. Room availability is not guaranteed. Amenities may vary from hotel to hotel and from room to room. Airport reception is not offered in the Alternative Accommodation Program. Students should arrange their own transportation to and from the property. Rates do not include incidentals and any other charges the student may incur. The YWCA, Marriott Residence Inn, Sandman and Delta will invoice the room rates to ILSC; therefore payment should be made at least three weeks in advance to their respective agent in order for ILSC to pay the YWCA, Marriott Residence Inn and Delta two weeks prior to check-in date. Some properties may charge a booking fee in addition to ILSC s placement fee. A valid credit card is required to guarantee and hold all bookings. A booking cannot be made unless the client s full credit card information is provided
