A Course In Miracle Workbook For Dummies LESSON 154 I am among the ministers of God. W Let us today be neither arrogant nor falsely humble. 2 We have gone beyond such foolishness. 3 We cannot judge ourselves, nor need we do so. 4 These judgments about ourselves are but attempts to hold decision off, and to delay commitment to our function in God s plan for salvation. 5 It is not our part to judge our worth, nor can we know what role is best for us; what we can do within a larger plan we cannot see in the plan s entirety. 6 Our part is cast in Heaven, not in the hell of our ego s split mind. 7 And what we think is weakness can be strength; what we believe to be our strength is often our ego s arrogance. W Whatever your appointed role may be, your role was selected by the Voice for God, Whose function is to speak for you as well. 2 Seeing your strengths exactly as they are, and equally aware of where your strengths can be best applied, for what, to whom and when, the Holy Spirit chooses and accepts your part for you. 3 The Holy Spirit does not work without your own consent. 4 But the Holy Spirit is not deceived in what your ego thinks you are, and listens only to the Holy Spirit s Voice in you which is your big S Self. W It is through your big S Self s ability to hear one Voice which is the Holy Spirit s Own Voice that you become aware at last there is one Voice in you which speaks for both the Holy Spirit and your big S Self as one. 2 And that one Voice of the Holy Spirit appoints your function, and relays your function to you, giving you the strength to understand your function, do what your function entails, and to succeed in everything you do that is related to your function. 3 God has joined His Son in this, and thus His Son becomes God s messenger of unity with God. W It is this joining of God and God s Son, through the Voice for God, of Father and of Son, which is the Holy Spirit s Voice that sets apart salvation from the world. 2 It is this one Voice of the Holy Spirit which speaks of laws the world does not obey; which promises salvation from all sin, with guilt abolished in the mind that God created sinless. 3 Now this once split mind becomes aware again of God Who created this sinless mind, and of God s lasting union with itself, which is part of the shared Mind of God. 4 So is its big S Self the one reality in which the once split mind s will and that of God s Will are joined. W A messenger is not the one who writes the message the messenger delivers. 2 Nor does the messenger question the right of him who does write the message, nor does the messenger ask why the writer has chosen those who will receive the message that the messenger brings. 3 It is enough that the messenger accepts the message, give the message to the ones for whom the message is intended, and fulfill his role in the message s delivery. 4 If the messenger determines what the messages should be, or what the message s purpose is, or where the message should be carried, the messenger is failing to perform the messenger s proper part as bringer of the Word.

W There is one major difference in the role of Heaven's messengers, which sets Heaven s messengers off from those the world appoints as messengers. 2 The messages that Heaven s messengers deliver are intended first for the messengers themselves. 3 And it is only as Heaven s messengers can accept the messages for themselves that Heaven s messengers become able to bring the messages further, and to give the messages everywhere that the messages were meant to be. 4 Like earthly messengers, Heaven s messengers did not write the messages they bear, but Heaven s messengers become their first receivers of the messages in the truest sense, receiving the messages to prepare themselves to give the messages. W An earthly messenger fulfills his role by giving all his messages away. 2 The messengers of God perform their part by their acceptance of God s messages as for themselves, and show that the messengers of God understand the messages by giving God s message away. 3 Messengers of God choose no roles that are not given them by God s authority. 4 And so messengers of God gain by every message that they give away. W Would you receive the messages of God? 2 For thus do you become God s messenger. 3 You are appointed now to be God s messenger. 4 And yet you wait to give the messages you have received. 5 And so you do not know that the messages you have received are yours, and do not recognize the messages of God because you have not given them away. 6 No one can receive the messages of God and understand he has received the messages of God until he gives the messages of God away. 7 For in the giving of the messages of God is the messenger s own acceptance of what he received from God which were those same messages. W You who are now the messenger of God, receive God s messages. 2 For the receiving of God s messages is part of your appointed role. 3 God has not failed to offer what you need, nor has God s offer been left unaccepted by the Holy Spirit on your behalf. 4 Yet another part of your appointed task is yet to be accomplished. 5 The Holy Spirit Who has received for you the messages of God would have the messages from God be received by you as well by you giving those same messages away. 6 For thus do you identify with the Holy Spirit and claim your own big S Self. W It is this joining that we undertake to recognize today. 2 We will not seek to keep our minds apart from the Holy Spirit Who speaks for us, for it is but our voice of our big S Self we hear as we attend the Holy Spirit. 3 The Holy Spirit alone can speak to us and for us, joining in one Voice the getting and the giving of God's Word; the giving and receiving of God s Will. W We practice giving the Holy Spirit what the Holy Spirit would have, that we may recognize the Holy Spirit s gifts to us. 2 The Holy Spirit needs our voice that the Holy Spirit may speak through us. 3 The Holy Spirit needs our hands to hold the Holy Spirit s messages, and carry them to those whom the Holy Spirit appoints. 4 The Holy Spirit needs our feet to bring us where the Holy Spirit wills, that those who wait in misery may be at last delivered. 5 And the Holy Spirit needs our will united with the Holy Spirit s Own Will, that we may be the true receivers of the gifts the Holy Spirit gives.

W Let us but learn this lesson for today: We will not recognize what we receive until we give what we received away to another. 2 You have heard this said a hundred ways, a hundred times, and yet belief is lacking still that to give is to receive. 3 But this is sure; until belief is given to the idea that to give is to receive, you will receive a thousand miracles and then receive a thousand more, but will not know that God Himself has left no gift beyond what you already have; nor has denied the tiniest of blessings to His Son. 4 What can these miracles mean to you, until you have identified with God and with His Own Son and given those same miracles away? W Our lesson for today is stated thus: 2 I am among the ministers of God, and I am grateful that I have the means by which to recognize that I am free. W The world recedes as we light up our minds, and realize these holy words are true. 2 These holy words that you are a minister of God and grateful that you have the means by which to recognize that you are free are the message sent to us today from our Creator. 3 Now we demonstrate how these holy words have changed our minds about ourselves, and what our function is as a minister of God by giving that same message away. 4 For as we prove that we accept no will we do not share with God, our many gifts from our Creator will spring to our sight and leap into our hands, and we will recognize what we received as we share those gift with others. Notes to Lesson #154 I am among the ministers of God. This lesson represents our true purpose and why we currently find ourselves on the game board of time. We have come here to bear witness for the truth of who we really are. We have come here to be a minister or messenger for God s plan for salvation that recognizes that the truth is true and nothing else is true. It is not arrogance or false humility to recognize that the function we have all come here to fulfill in time is to be a messenger for truth. Our ego is incapable of being a messenger for truth because the ego has determined that its plan, not God s plan, is what is needed for our salvation. This lesson cautions us that we should not question our assigned role in God s plan as a messenger for the truth. We are not aware of the big picture. Therefore, we are incapable of judging what is the most beneficial role we can play in the reawakening of sleeping minds to their spiritual magnificence as the Christ. As a messenger for God, your function is to spread the truth that all remain innocent and sinless, perfect, whole and complete, part of the shared Mind of the One Self. Our role is to act as that messenger. Our ego believes that you should play a different and perhaps larger role. When we allow our ego to judge or determine what our role should be, what

message needs to be delivered and who should be the recipient for that message, we are delaying our commitment to fulfilling our true function of being a messenger for the Voice for God. We are all messengers for the Holy Spirit and the truth. As a messenger, we do not write, edit or determine who writes or receives the message. We merely follow the orders of the Holy Spirit Who has God s plan. We simply deliver the message as it was written to the proper recipient at the proper time. When we fail to do this, we overstep our function as a messenger and are following our ego s plan. Unlike an earthly messenger, we must first accept the message for ourselves and understand the message before we can deliver it. Even in time, the law of God that to give is to receive still applies. You must first accept the message before you can deliver it to another. You cannot give what you do not possess. We demonstrate our acceptance and understanding of the message through our actions. Only then can we give that same message away to another. To be a minister for God, you first need to walk the talk before you share the message. Your actions, not your words, will demonstrate the message has been understood and accepted. A messenger for God, quiets the egoic mind chatter of the little s self and then listens for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Only the Holy Spirit knows the big picture and possesses the road map that will take us home. When we listen and follow the Voice for the Holy Spirit, we are actually joining our mind with our big S Self and the Holy Spirit in a single purpose. With this single purpose our minds are joined as one mind and become one voice. When minds share a single purpose of witnessing for the truth, there is a joining of those minds. With this joining with the Holy Spirit and your big S Self, you are freed from the split mind s belief in lack, limitation and separation. You realize that you are among the ministers of God, and you, like your brother, share in the single purpose of recognizing the truth and sharing that truth with all. Question; If two messages were worded exactly the same, is it possible that one message is from your ego and another could be from the Holy Spirit? Hint: Remember form is not the same as content or purpose. The message could be exactly the same but the purpose of the messenger will be the determining factor. The form that the message takes is not the determining factor. The deciding factor is always the purpose behind why the message is being delivered. If the message is being delivered on behalf of the Holy Spirit, the purpose of the messenger will be to facilitate the joining of minds that recognizes the oneness and sinless nature of all involved. If the message is being delivered on behalf of the ego, the messenger will actually be reinforcing the messenger s own belief in limitation, inequality and separation. The hidden purpose behind an egoic message and its messenger will be the originating belief that the there is something

actually wrong that needs to be fixed. The messenger will actually believe that the message is designed to fix change, protect, impress or correct the other party in order to save that party. The messenger will always accept the hidden belief that there is something that needs to be changed because someone is no longer perfect, whole and complete. The egoic message and its messenger always assume the illusion to be real and therefore, have failed to realize that only truth is true and nothing else is true. Copyright 2014 by Thomas R. Wakechild
