This is at the discretion of the IPM.) Other comments, actions and items to follow up after the initial planning meeting Awards and change of titles It was pointed out that the Dean of School had requested that consideration be given to changing the award of MA to MSc. This was in an effort to reflect the current sector norm and enhance marketing, particularly to an international audience where the MSc has a higher status. The title change for MA International Business was also noted Action: QMD Officer to confirm with the Associate Dean, Quality Enhancement: the process for changing the MA to MSc in terms of planning approval requirements (if any); the process for the title change for MA International Business. Response: Alan Weale ed re change from MA to MSc, informed that this was a validation issue but that the validation team, and especially the external, will need to agree that the programme reflects a science degree in terms of its content and methodological approaches and that this is within sector norms (18/10/10). Action closed. Cathy Shaw ed re process for title change and whether this could be added on as change of title to review process (18/10/10). Response received that this could be added to the review process. Action closed. Page 7 of 20

8 Curriculum Design Meetings These will be held w/c 8 th November 2010 and will include discussion of Learning and Teaching / Assessment / engagement with students etc. The meetings should include all members of the Developmental Team, where possible and be chaired by the Developmental Lead. The External Adviser should be invited to this meeting and if unable to attend asked to contribute by correspondence. It was noted that Developmental Leads should also engage ILE/LIS/Registry in curriculum development activities. ILE in particular were keen to offer advice/staff development. Action: Developmental Lead to inform the Officer of the date of the meeting in order to include in the contract letter to the External Adviser. Developmental Leads to approach ILE for any advice/staff development needs. Response: Date of meeting confirmed as 9 th November, pm. External to provide feedback by correspondence (28/10/10). Action closed. Training on e:vision / WOLF Training sessions on e:vision will be held on 17 th and 19 th November It is the intention that these will be drop-in sessions for Module Leaders to input module details onto e:vision. Framework Option 2, delivering 20 credit modules in 3x 9 week blocks to be submitted to Academic Board in November The dissertation would be 60 credits, of which an element, i.e. 20 credits, could be taught, possibly Research Methods. How the dissertation would fit into the framework was yet to be confirmed, but a possible scenario was that work on the dissertation would begin in block 2, (students undertaking the taught element at this point, with block 3 for supervision from the tutor and the summer period to complete). This should be taken into consideration when designing courses. Page 8 of 20
