Pick a certain color, such as blue, have your child find items around the house that are blue. After all the items are gathered in one place, name each one as you go through them together. By naming these items, you are developing your child s vocabulary skills. Place an ice cube tray with red, yellow, and blue colored water in three different spaces. Give your child an eye dropper and have him/her mix the colors in the remaining spaces. Talk about what he/she discovers about mixing the different colors. What new color happens when he/she mixes red and yellow, or red and blue, or blue and yellow? This activity helps your child develop his/her narrative skills.
