2 June 11th-July 23rd. Summer Reading Program Read for the Win All ages from babies through 12th grade. No one has to have a library card to participate. Our main goal for Summer Reading is to keep everyone reading for the summer, while having a good time along the way. Research shows that children who participate in public library summer reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those who did not participate. Newborns through 35 months: Will be part of the Rubber Ducky Readers. They will receive a literacy activity log for the month of June, when completed each child will receive a Rubber Ducky and a new log for July. A new board book will be received by each child upon completion of the July log. 3 years through 12th grade: Will receive a log to record the minutes they read. By completing their reading goal and returning the first log each child will receive a gift package, a book, and a raffle ticket for an age appropriate bi-weekly prize drawing. The prizes will be gift cards, tickets for the Cardinals, Raging River, Gateway Fun Center, Skating, Magic House, many other local attractions, and other surprises. Each child may complete as many logs as they can and return each for another book choice and a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets will also be given for attending programs so come take part in the summer fun. Summer Reading Read for a Reason Read to help others! Every child age 3 years to 12th grade gets logs to track how many minutes they read. For every hour they read or are read to, each will receive 1 Book Buck to donate to one of two charities. The charities for this year s summer reading program are Partners for Pets and Special Olympics Illinois. Summer Reading Kick-off Saturday, June 11 9:00-12:00 Summer reading is here. Everyone may register for Summer Reading Programs, pick up Reading Logs, and enjoy a variety of activities such as: a Bounce House, crafts, prize drawings, and more.
