1 Eagle Public Library Calendar of Classes and Events July 2016 The Library will be closed July 4 REGULAR PROGRAMS Monday, July 11, 18, 25 Baby Readers: 10:30 am (ages birth 18 months) Stories, songs, and finger plays for babies and their caregivers. Monday, July 11, 18, 25 Knee Deep in LEGOS : 4:00 pm (ages 6+) Weekly program for children ages 6 12 to use their creativity in building and designing with LEGOS. Tuesday, July 5, 12, 19, 26 Toddler Time: 10:30 am (ages 18 months 3 years) Stories, songs, and crafts for toddlers and their caregivers. Tuesdays, July 5, 12, 19, 26 Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21, 28 Fit and Fall Proof, 1:00 pm An exercise-based fall prevention program for older adults that focuses on functional exercises that reduce an older adults risk of falling. Tuesday, July 12, 26 Alzheimer s Support Group: 2:00 pm (adults) Co-sponsored with Alzheimer s Association Greater Idaho Chapter, the Eagle Public Library offers support for individuals and families whose lives are touched by Alzheimer s. Music & Movement: 10:30 am (ages birth 5 years) Early literacy skills are built through rhythm and motion in this interactive program for young children and their caregivers. Tales to Tails: 4:00 5:00 pm (ages 5+)

2 Increase your reading ability and confidence by reading to man s best friend from Helping Idaho Dogs. Registration is required; contact the Youth Services staff at , ext Teen Advisory Board (TAB): 4:15 pm (teens 14+) Earn volunteer hours, socialize with your peers, and help your Library! Teen Volunteer Orientation Application deadline for Fall volunteers is September 17. Mandatory orientation for all new teen volunteers is September 21 at 4:15 PM. Volunteers must be 14 years-old by orientation. Applications are available at the Library. Wednesday, July 6, 20 Eagle Writer s Group: 7:00 pm (Age: adult) Learn the art of writing through lectures, writing exercises, and feedback. Pajama Storytime: 7:00 pm (ages 3 8) Come in your pajamas for stories, songs, a craft, and a bedtime snack. Preschool Storytime: 10:30 am (ages 3 5 years) Stories, songs, and crafts for preschoolers and their caregivers Summer Matinees at the Library, 3:00 pm (Age: all) July 7: Underdog July 14: Dinosaur July 21: Kung Fu Panda July 28: Racing Stripes Friday, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Ready, Set, School! 10:30 am (ages 3 5 years) Stories, songs, and crafts, with an emphasis on school-readiness skills. Friday, July 8, 22 Nutty Knitters of Eagle Public Library: 10:00 am (adults) Local knitters and crocheters provide infant, youth, and adult knit products for those in need. Join them to knit for charity, or to make friends with people with common interests. Or, if you want to learn to knit, stop by; you ll receive a lot of free advice. If you don t want to knit but would like to help, the Nutty Knitters will gladly accept donations of yarn, which may be left at the Library s front desk. (Age: all) Friday, July 8 Teen Friday Craft: Instagram Art, 2:00 pm Turn your Instagram (or other pictures) into art! Monday, July 11 Masterpiece for Kids: Henry Moore, 2:00 pm Henry Moore was a master of abstract sculpture try your hand at his technique. Tuesday, July 12 Kids Summer Fun: Ninjas! 2:00 pm Make ninja action figures and prove your ninja skills on an obstacle course. (Age: Elementary) Tuesday, July 12 Etched Glass, 4:00 pm Create a unique decorative jar by etching your design into glass. Wednesday, July 13 Self-Defense Karate for Kids, 2:00 pm

Is paper, cork, plastic, or wood faster on water? (Age: Elementary) Tuesday, July 19 Kids Summer Fun: The Science of Sports, 2:00 pm Explore the science of sports with balls, paper, and wooden rods. (Age: Elementary) Tuesday, July 19 Henna Tattoos, 4:00 pm This is your chance to be creative using this ancient body art. Henna tattoos are temporary and last two to three weeks. There will be henna tattoos, laughs, and fun! Wednesday, July 20 Totally Terrific Tie-Dye, 2:00 pm At this family event, bring your own cotton t-shirt or other item and let your inner artiste loose! And, you ll experience a tasty summertime treat. (Age: all) Friday, July 22 Teen Friday Craft: Waffles, 2:00 pm Waffles aren t just for breakfast anymore. Use chalk to fill the sidewalks in front of the library with color!
