Thursday 27 th August to Thursday 3 rd September 2015 This summer we are returning to Italy to discover even more of its beautiful scenery, rich cultural heritage and delicious cuisine! Following our superb Undiscovered Italy trip in 2014, 2015 sees us explore the Italian Lakes. Flying to Northern Italy we shall spend the week surrounded by the stunning vistas of Lake Garda and Lake Como, immerse ourselves in the traditional character of the fortified towns and rural villages adorned with bell towers and historic villas, and sing in some unique locations. The magnificence of the region draws in regulars of the likes of George Clooney, Richard Branson and of course James Bond in Casino Royale! The art, the architechture, the food, the wine, the scenery. There is everything on offer in this beautiful region and we can t wait to discover it with you. Thanks to for the beautiful picture! We will be spending 3 nights in Como (Lake Como) and 4 nights in Sirmione (the southern part of Lake Garda). Lake Como and Lake Garda are the most popular Italian lakes. We will be singing in Piona Abbey, Como Cathedral, Blevio Church by the lake and in Malcesine. We have an optional trip to Verona with the option to attend the Opera in the world famous Arena. There is also an optional Cable Car experience to Monte Baldo (the garden of Europe) in Malcesine. We will be staying at the four star Palace Hotel in Como and the four star Hotel Du Parc in Simione. Our package includes return transport to and from the airport in Italy and transportation for all activities and concerts except Como as we are close enough to walk to the Duomo. We also have dinner included on 3 evenings. Flights We shall be flying into the city of Bergamo on Thursday 27 th August and returning to the UK from Bergamo on Thursday 3 rd September. The flights include 20 kg luggage. We have 2 flight options for you to choose:

Itinerary Thursday Aug. 27 th East Midlands-Bergamo 27 August depart 1205 arrive 1515 Manchester-Bergamo 27 August depart 1340 arrive 1655 Arrive in Bergamo & transfer to the Hotel Palace in Como. Upon arrival in Como check in and have a group dinner at the hotel restaurant. Rest of the evening at leisure. Friday Aug. 28 th The shores of the lake are characterised by a series of small villages with bell towers in natural stone and beautiful villas surrounded by gardens with exotic plants, trees, steps and statues leading down to the lake. Many nobles from Milan had their summer residences built on the lake. The best way of visiting the villas and their gardens is by boat. Our full day boat tour of Lake Como includes a stop in Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo and a stop in the Piona Abbey in Colico, where we are singing in the abbey cloister. The stairway and the landscaped garden of Villa Carlotta were built for the Clerici family towards the end of 1600 and after that it passed to Princess Marianna of the Netherlands, who gave it to her daughter Carlotta as a wedding present. Inside there is a significant museum that collects statues, paintings and original neoclassical furniture, amongst valuable sculptures by Antonio Canova and canvases by Francesco Hayez. In the garden there are trees and plants from every part of the globe. The Piona Abbey is dedicated to Saint Nicolò and is a jewel of Romanesque- Lombard architecture. The cloister ( ) contains a rare calendar fresco. Evening at leisure, dinner not included on this evening. Saturday Aug. 29 th Morning at leisure. Our hotel is centrally located so plenty of opportunities to walk around downtown Como and its relaxing lake shore. Rehearsals in the Como Cathedral at 12noon. Rest of the afternoon is free. Dinner is not included on this evening. We meet again to walk to the Cathedral for our concert at 9.00pm. Sunday Aug. 30 th Morning at leisure. Check out at 12noon and board the coach to Blevio. Discover the little village by the lake at your own pace and enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants or cafés. AT 5.00PM we have our recital in the Church by the Lake. We are in the home of the Prestinari Organ Association, where we will enter as guests of the annual programme of events of the Association! After the concert we transfer by coach to Lake Garda, check in at the hotel and have a group dinner at the hotel upon arrival. Monday Aug. 31 st Morning recital in Malcesine in the Church of Santo Stefano or Santi Benigno e Caro. Afternoon and evening at leisure, dinner not included on this evening. Tuesday Sept. 1 st Whole day at leisure. Optional evening tour to Verona including orientation tour with an English-speaking guide and free time in downtown. Optional Opera ticket applicable to this tour: Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi at 8.45pm. Dinner not included on this evening. Wednesday Sept. 2 nd Optional tour to Monte Baldo by cable car starting from Malcesine. The mountain s position between the Alps and the Mediterranean - between the Adige river and the Garda lake grants a special climate to the area and makes it possible to grow a large variety of plants and flowers to be admired by nature-lovers. A group dinner is included at the hotel on this evening. Thursday Sept. 3 rd Morning at leisure. Check out by noon and depart to BERGAMO airport.
