1 Potter s Clay Homeschool Co-operative But now, O Lord, You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our Potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8 Welcome Letter Thank you for your interest in Potter's Clay Homeschool Co-Operative! It's an exciting time to be involved in the homeschooling lifestyle and community, and especially Potter's Clay Co-Op! About Potter s Clay Co-op The purpose of Potter s Clay Co-op is to provide a place where homeschooling parents can: share in the responsibilities of teaching their children one day a week, benefit from each other s strengths in subject areas different than their own, and connect with other homeschooling parents for support and encouragement. Potter's Clay students can: participate in enrichment activities, experience hands-on activities difficult or impossible to do at home and make friends and have the opportunity to interact in a classroom setting. Potter s Clay operates as a ministry of First Baptist Church of Umatilla. All classes are held in the Multi-Purpose Room and surrounding classrooms. Potter s Clay meets each Tuesday beginning in early September from 10:00 am- 12 pm. Classes are held for children from preschool age (age 3 as of 9/1/15 and potty-trained) through eighth-grade age. Please note that Potter's Clay co-op is a ministry serving homeschooling families. As such, families with only preschoolers will be admitted at the discretion of the Board after discussion with the Director. Infant care/nursery is available for parent volunteers. Parental involvement is a requirement of participation in Potter s Clay. Elementary and middle parents who are not serving as full-time teachers during the semester will be responsible to assisting the teacher with classroom management, assisting students during class, gathering supplies, and other support needed by the full-time teacher. Parents may be asked to fill-in for absent teachers when necessary, also. The preschool class will be taught by parents under the direction of the Lead Teacher. Parents of preschool students will be required to sign up to teach cooperatively in advance, on a rotating basis, with all curriculum provided. If there is another specific area in which you would like to serve, please contact the Director so that you can be plugged in! Registration Information We look forward with great anticipation to see what God has planned for Potter s Clay and all of our families in the 2015/2016 school year. Registration will be accepted until August 18, Please note that based on class size limitations, enrollment may be capped. An information session will be held on August 11, 2015, from 10-11:30 am. This information session is mandatory for all new families. The fall semester begins on September 8, Registration fees are due by September 8, If you have specific questions about Potter s Clay or would like to learn more about how you may be able to serve, please contact Kimmy Jenkins, Director, at We look forward to your involvement in Potter s Clay, to HIS glory! Lovingly Serving Him, Kimmy Jenkins, Director, , jkhcb5@aol.com Jaime Braswell, Assistant Director, , BrooksandJaime@hotmail.com Kasie McAdams, Potter s Clay Administrator, , kcmcadams@comcast.net

8 Potter s Clay Homeschool Co-operative But now, O Lord, You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our Potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8 2015/2016 Code of Conduct and Agreement Statement of Faith: Potter s Clay seeks to provide enrichment activities to preschool through middle school-aged homeschooled students. As a ministry of First Baptist Church of Umatilla, Potter's Clay presents all curricula from a Christian worldview, believing and teaching that Christ is the center of our lives and the Bible is the absolute authority. In keeping with our Statement of Faith, and in ensuring our goal of providing a productive, safe, and Christian learning environment, the following rules for conduct have been officially adopted by the Board. 1. A parent or guardian must remain on campus at all times, with the rare exception for emergency with previous approval by a Board member. Parents are expected to participate in co-op in some manner. 2. All parents or guardians who routinely participate must pass a background check conducted by the Church Office. This includes grandparents, babysitters, etc. who plan on attending co-op or field trips on a regular basis. 3. Students are expected to respect other students. Making fun of others, bullying, using inappropriate language, and making physical threats or actions are strictly prohibited. 4. Students are required to treat teachers, assistants, and other parents/guardians with respect at all times. Classroom conduct must be orderly and appropriate. 5. All participants must dress appropriately in a modest manner. No undergarments shall be visible and all clothing must be an appropriate length. 6. Participants are expected to be respectful of the Church property. Running or horseplay is not permitted. 7. All students must be in an assigned class at all times, either as a student or as a helper. 8. Families who will not be present at co-op for longer than three consecutive weeks must notify a Board member to avoid re-enrollment fees. 9. Disciplinary issues will be handled by the Board with the full involvement of the parent. Generally, the process will proceed as an Initial Warning, Second Warning, and then Expulsion. This progression may be altered at the discretion of the Board depending on the severity of the situation. Appropriate documentation will be maintained by the Board. No refunds will be issued in event of expulsion. By signature below, you commit to following these rules (students), and to enforcing these rules as appropriate (parents).
