General Manager: a senior position, supporting the Executive Director to ensure the smooth closely with the finance and operations departments and will have a track record in arts management, preferably in a producing venue. Theatre Producer: will work with the Artistic and Executive Directors to line produce our inhouse theatre productions, to ensure that they are realised to the highest standards and explore the potential future life of our work. 2 JOB DESCRIPTION: Theatre Producer Job Title: Responsible to: Line Manager: Purpose of Job: THEATRE PRODUCER Executive Director and Artistic Director Executive Director L 21 Dean Street and on tour and to ensure the productions are realised to the highest standards and to explore the future life of productions and partnerships Duties: PRODUCING Line produce selected theatre productions and/or co-productions on behalf of Soho Theatre Work with the Artistic Director and/or Director to support their artistic vision for Soho Theatre produced productions Support the Executive Director and General Manager in deal negotiations with visiting companies and co-producers Work with the General Manager on the contractual arrangements for visiting companies and co-producers Arrange pre-production meetings with relevant members of staff, and attend production meetings regularly Be the main point of contact for enquiries relating to the produced production Report on produced productions progress regularly, including contributing to stakeholder reports and annual submissions Be responsible for appointing the creative team (designers, actors, stage management and other professionals such as voice coaches or fight directors); including but not limited to checking availability, liaising with agents regarding offers and issuing contracts. Obtain all necessary work permit, visas, travel and accommodation needs relating to international artists, companies and touring work Arrange space for casting, rehearsals and meetings as required and liaise with the Finance + Admin Assistant to ensure the company calendars are regularly updated with production information Create and maintain contact sheets for produced productions 2

3 including commissions and option agreements, liaising and working with the Artistic team to help manage timelines, and complete and report on royalties. Work with the Communications team to ensure that marketing and press campaigns reflect the artistic vision for the show and that sales targets are being met Monitor box office reports, ensuring good houses for all performances and oversee complimentary ticket allocations for guests and creative team Work closely with the Production team, and freelance Production Manager on all production related aspects of the produced production, including but not limited to staffing, budget and future life of the set Work with the Executive Assistant on arrangements for press night and guest night Seek support for productions, through donations, sponsorship and/or in kind; liaising with the Development team Proactively seek opportunities for the further exploitation of produced productions such as touring and transferring, or adaptation to alternate media. Work with the Executive Director on possible future partnerships with online opportunities, such as Digital Theatre S and Education team, as necessary, on large scale projects FINANCE Be responsible for ensuring that all produced productions and projects are fulfilled within strict budgets Process invoices for Creative team fees and weekly actors and stage management wages for produced productions Manage any FEU paperwork and payments necessary, if international artists or companies are involved Process all invoices relating to produced productions Maintain up to date financial reconciliations against budgets for produced productions, reporting variations to Executive Director Work with the Executive Director and General Manager in the creation of production budgets Produce royalty statements, track and manage management participation and option payments for writers. 3

4 CASTING Support the work of the Casting Director; checking availability, offering and contracting actors Support and liaise with actors employed by Soho Theatre during the time they are engaged with the Company and the work Work with the Artistic team to actively cultivate and develop relationships with agents and high profile performers Deputise for the Casting Director as required GENERAL To network and mainta Associate Venues Support the aims and objectives of Soho Theatre Company both internally and externally. Participate as a member of the Management Team, and attend regular management meetings. Attend meetings, as required, including but not limited to Company, Operations + Diary, Artistic and Production meetings Attend and engage with events such as press night, guest night and development events at Soho Theatre and other organisations as required Answer phones as part of the general Administration line, ensuring awareness of the programme and activities of the Company. Administrate all aspects of the role, including filing and record keeping and reporting as required To undertake such other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required This is a guide to the nature of the work required of the Theatre Producer. It is not wholly comprehensive or restrictive and may be reviewed with the post holder and the line manager from time to time. 4

6 Terms of Employment Salary Negotiable depending on experience, not less than 28,000pa. Holiday entitlement 20 days per annum, rising to 25 days after one year of continuous service, excluding Bank Holidays. Hours Full time: 40 hours per week. Office hours at 10am 6pm Monday to Friday, however occasional work evenings and weekends will be required, such as on press nights and galas. There are no overtime payments but TOIL is negotiable with your line manager. Pension Soho will pay a matching contribution of up to 3% of your salary into your pension scheme after a period of 6 months employment.
