4 Index Below you will find the list of activities for The Lion and The Mouse with the corresponding Teacher s Corner to each exercise where needed. BEFORE WATCHING Activity 1 Five Little Monkeys 2 What is it? I know! 3 Guess it, mime it, say it! 4 Feelings 5 How do they feel? 6 What do they eat? 7 This animal likes... teachers Corner Elicit from your students where lions live, and ask them what other animals they can find there, till they say monkey. As a follow up activity to the play, teach your students this traditional tale. Your students can sing along and make finger puppets with monkey faces, like the ones below. You will find the story in this link: Your students colour the parts of the animals, and then cut them out and stick them on a piece of cardboard to make the main characters in the story. Provide your students with clues (either by saying them or drawing them) so they can guess which animal your card shows. Once they have guessed, that student has to mime the animal and make the correct animal sound. Then, it is his/her turn to make his friends in the class guess. Give one card to each of your students so the others guess. Use the cards to play concentration game (Memotest) Tell students to draw the faces and say how they feel. As a follow up to the exercise above, pick individual students to make sentences for the rest to guess the animal following this pattern: This animal likes...(lettuce, etc. ) What is it? The first one to answer gets the chance to say the next sentence (or to pick the name of another student from a bag) 8 Where do they live? 9 Let s go to the jungle! Put soft animals in a box and take them out slowly to create a surprise effect. The animals can be: tiger, monkey, toucan, frog, elephant, snake, crocodile, etc. Kids say the names of the animals and distribute them around the classroom. Once you presented all of them, tell them that you are going to the jungle to visit the animals. You can have some props (a safari hat and binoculars for example). Listen to the song in the classroom. And walk around following the movements in the song. It s great fun when they discover the tiger and everybody is scared! Song: Walking in the jungle! You can also play the song again, turn off the lights and turn on a torch to discover the hidden animals! info@baplayers.com.
