2 June 15-17, 2010 San Diego, CA Creating mlearning Applications with Adobe Flash Lite Checklist Identify the brand(s) and model phone(s) you will be designing your learning application for. Know the exact dimensions of the display screen of the phone you are designing your learning application for. You must keep your content within these screen parameters! Understand the function of navigation buttons and keys on the phone you are designing your learning application for. Create an outline of the basic lesson that you are designing your learning content for. Ask yourself the following questions: What are the learning objectives? What do you want your learner to come away with? What kind of Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) will be utilized? Audio files? Movie Clips? Interactive Flash Animation? How will you assess the learner? How will delivery of your lesson over a mobile device enhance the learning of the content? Deliver learning content over a number of screens to make it easier for the learner to comprehend. Too much information packed into one screen can confuse and overwhelm the viewer of your content. Think less is more! Use small amounts of text and limit how much learning content you place within each screen. Chunk your learning content into small and manageable pieces. 3 June 15-17, 2010 San Diego, CA For novice designers, get a jump-start by using content development kits (CDKs) available for free download from the Adobe Mobile and Devices Developer Center website: Obtain a free trial or purchase Adobe Flash. You will need Flash to open the.fla files included in the CDKs. Once inside the samples, you can explore the layout of the interactive content and the action script coding. Adobe offers discounts for educators and both small and large businesses. Access their product page for Flash and then look for the education and business links. Use Adobe Device Manager to test the interactivity of your mobile application by emulating it within this program. When you download a free trial or purchase Adobe Flash, Adobe Device Manager is included. If the application does not start downloading, you can right-click on the link and Save Target As to your desktop. Use your keyboard and mouse to use the application. PC Mac Mobile Devices: Due to issues with the mobile packaging, the swf file for this application does not work properly. This swf is designed to be downloaded on a flash-enabled cell phone or other device. You can still download the swf file below, but the buttons and keys on your cell phone will not be able to control the application. This swf is the same file used for the PC and Mac options above; a fix is in the works.
