3 AVK check valves - for optimum pump performance The range of swing check valves DN PN 10/16 and ball check valves DN PN 10 offers various features in the field of back flow prevention. The AVK check valve prograe offers several application possibilities, and the valves are easy to install, service, and maintain. Swing check valves for sewage and drinking water applications. The series 41 swing check valves are available with and without external closing device. Without closing device the valves are available: A. with vulcanized disc, AISI 316 hinge, and a stainless steel shaft. B. with solid rubber disc and hinge in one piece on a stainless steel shaft. Valves with external closing device are delivered with free shaft end prepared for either lever and weight or spring kit. Lever and weight and spring kit must be ordered separately. This will minimize the need for variants in stock and increase the flexibility in retrofitting of external closing. Ball check valves for sewage applications. The valve design features 100 % free flow as the ball does not appear in the valve flow path when in open position. Furthermore, the straight bore prevents deposit in the valve. The AVK ball check valve consequently features the lowest pressure loss on the market giving the benefits of optimum use of pump capacity. Great installation flexibility is another essential benefit of the unique valve design. The valve can be installed both vertically and horizontally as the valve body supports the ball against the seat in any valve position. 4 Complete cover for swing check valve series 41/61 Complete cover for swing check valve series 41/60 Disc and hinge are attached to a stainless steel shaft that ends in two closed bushings. An external closing device cannot subsequently be mounted on the valve. Disc and hinge are attached to a stainless steel shaft on which either lever and weight or lever and spring can be mounted. Series 41/61 with closed bonnet This valve is suitable for installations with an insignificant risk of water haer. The design is ideal for media with max. 15 % dry matter. Optimum tightness by minimum 0.5 bar counter-pressure. The valve is suitable for underground installation. Series 41/60 Swing check valve with external lever and weight The solution with lever and weight is used for installations with an increased risk of water haer. The weight is adjustable on the lever by which you achieve an optimum closing speed or a careful closing against the seat. The solution with lever and weight provides a constant pressure loss regardless the opening angle. The valve can be installed horizontally as well as vertically. 5 With solid rubber disc and integrated hinge series 41/69 Series 41/60 Swing check valve with external spring load This valve is suitable for installations with an insignificant risk of water haer. The ideal placement of the valve is in vertical position. The design is ideal for media with max. 15 % dry matter. Optimum tightness by minimum 0.5 bar counterpressure. The valve is suitable for underground installation. Manual priming device is available giving the possibility of backflushing non selfpriming pumps. External spring loaded swing check valve which makes it suitable for installations with increased risk of water haer, like e.g. if there are several pumps operating in the same manifold. The ideal placement of the valve is in horizontal position, but it can also be installed in vertical position. 6 Series 41 swing check valves Installation The AVK swing check valves are designed according to EN and LGA (Landesgewerbsanstalt Bayern) that includes both a low and a high pressure test: Low pressure: up to DN100-1 litre in 10 minutes at 0,2 bar pressure from and above DN125-3 litres in 10 minutes at 0,2 bar pressure High pressure: shell test to 1.5 x PN (1.5 x 16 = 24 bar) seat test to 1.1 x PN (1.1 x 16 = 17.6 bar). If a check valve leaks, the water will flow backwards through the pump to the sump. Hence the pump uses energy to pump the same water more than one time. An increase in the operating hours of pumps may indicate that the check valve is leaking. If the check valve does not open 100 % when the pump is running, the pressure will increase in the pressure pipe, and the pump capacity will decrease. Therefore, it will use more energy to pump the same volume of water. A very service friendly design ensures easy maintenance as disassembly of the valve can be performed without removing the valve from the pipe system. By unscrewing 4 or 6 bolts on the bonnet, depending on dimension, the bonnet assembly with hinge and disc can be removed from the body. In case of damage the necessary spare parts can be changed before reassembly. AVK swing check valves with external lever and weight can be installed in different posititions. The lever is installed on the shaft in a hexagon connection enabling the lever to be moved with a 60 degrees interval. Hereby, the lever and weight can always be moved to a position which will balance out the weight of the disc and hinge. (see drawing below). 6 Check valves

The disc is designed with a steel insert fully vulcanized with EPDM rubber. It provides a drop tight closure and due to the light weight it requires a minimum of force to open/close. 17 Series 53 ball check valves Installation The AVK ball check valves are available with internal thread in DN and with flanges in DN The basic valve design ensures easy maintenance, cost effective operation, and long life. The AVK ball check valve can be installed both vertically and horizontally. Due to the unique design, the AVK ball check valve will close with a minimum back pressure. Based on AVK s experience within the sewage treatment sector, the selected materials ensure long life and optimum function under the given working conditions. The body and bonnet are made of ductile iron with electrostatically applied epoxy coating. Thorough control of layer thickness, adhesive strength, and impact resistance of the coating is made to ensure optimum corrosion protection in accordance with DIN and GSK. The bonnet bolts and nuts are made of stainless steel A2 providing high strength and corrosion resistance. The core of the ball is made of aluminium in DN and of cast iron in DN The ball is fully vulcanised with NBR rubber which ensures optimum sealing.
