Terpinoids and Medical Use There are more than a 100 different terpenoids in marijuana that help cannabinoids affect the body and mood. Terpenes are an aromatic compound that give strains their unique smell and effects. medical treatments. Always consult your physician prior to starting your medical marijuana use to explore the available options for treating your disease or symptom. Now that you have your medical marijuana card you can legally purchase up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana every 14 days. The Arizona Department of Health Services approves medical marijuana to treat these symptoms, conditions and diseases: Here are 10 to help you discover the right strain for you. Limonene Citrus Eucalyptol Spicy/camphor Humulene Hoppy Antidepressive Antibiotic Antiviral Promotes sleep Myrcene Earthy/musky Cineole Herbal Terpinolene Woody/Smoky Caryophyllene Spicy Linalool Floral/spicy Promotes weight loss Bronchodilator Sedative Muscle relaxer Borneol Pungent/earthy Alpha-Pinene Pine Anticancerous Anti-bacterial Antifungal Anti-proliferative Alzheimer s Glaucoma Cancer Multiple Sclerosis Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig s Epilepsy Seizures HIV/AIDS Crohn s Cachexia (Wasting Syndrome) How do I use medical marijuana? Nausea Hepatitis C Chronic pain Muscle spasms Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Note: The AZ legislature can add to this list and state law allows a person to request the addition of other conditions. Medical marijuana is available in many forms. You can smoke it, use a vaporizer, drink it in liquid form and/or eat it in edibles. Each method of delivery has its benefits. You, your doctor and your HWC patient service consultant can determine what means of administering your treatment works best. Keep in mind, high-quality marijuana is at the heart of the issue. Antiseptic Antinociceptive Antipsychotic Relieves gastric reflux Anti-inflammatory Analgesic Antiepileptic Antioxidant Relieves anxiety Treats Asthma Not all cannabis is created equal. Each strain has a different balance of cannabinoids, the chemical compounds unique to marijuana that have medicinal value. The two most common are THC, which causes the psychoactive effects that create the high feeling, and CBD, which offsets the effects of THC and prevents muscle spasms and seizures. The quality of your medicine is largely determined by its cannabinoids and how well the grower takes care of the flower during cultivation. That coupled with how you ingest your medicine will contribute significantly to your experience. Why medical marijuana? Medical marijuana can reduce pain and/or discomfort associated with a growing number of medical conditions and lessen the side effects of some traditional At HWC, we combine science, passion and experience to deliver world-class strains of flower, wax, shatter, edibles, oils and our proprietary concentrate brand Vapen Clear. While other dispensaries focus on low prices, we focus on high quality from the time each seed begins its life cycle through to harvest. It s our commitment to make sure you get the very best.

Smoking The most popular way to medicate remains smoking the dried flowers or leaves of the marijuana plant. Hash and kief are also ingested this way. You can smoke through a pipe/bong or roll a joint (pre-roll). Smoking medical marijuana produces immediate results for most patients. Depending on individual tolerance, product potency and strain, effects may last from 90 minutes to 4 hours. Your HWC patient service consultant has details about medicating with each individual strain. Edibles Sugar Hi is our own brand of edibles that boasts potent and delicious treats powered by Vapen Clear. Edibles add variety and fun to your treatment. Ask your patient service consultant about Sugar Hi and other high-quality edibles. Golden rule - when trying edibles for the first time: Start slow Eat approximately 10 mg. dose Wait 2-3 hours to gauge effects Increase dose if needed DO NOT eat a second dose within 3 hours. Vapen Clear Vapen Clear is taking the medical marijuana industry by storm, providing a clean, clear marijuana concentrate that s nearly 100 percent isolated cannabinoids. That means it s full of terpene flavor and entirely free of any and all additives. Vapen Clear does not use propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, vegetable glycerin or coconut oil to adjust flavor and/or consistency. Vapen Clear products contain only cannabinoids and Convenient for safe use anywhere Discreet and elegant pen styles Prefilled cartridges Easy-to-use Desktop Vaporizers Stationary unit Adjustable temperature for taste and effect Flower can be reused after vaporized Concentrate Concentrates are created by separating cannabinoids from full plant marijuana. Forms of concentrate include: wax, shatter, oils and solvent-free extracts such as Vapen Clear cartridges and syringes. Other Portable Vaporizers Useful for wax, shatter or flower Read owner s manual for best operation

Recommendations for First-Time Patients 1-2 hits flower 10 mg. for edibles Small bead of concentrate Increase dose as needed Note: Keep all products in a cool and dry place, free from light and in a sealed container to preserve freshness, quality and potency. Where can I medicate? We recommend you medicate in the privacy of your own home; however, you can take or administer your medication anywhere you feel safe as long as it does not break any of the laws established by the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act which prohibits: Smoking marijuana on public transportation or in public places, such as bars, restaurants, shopping malls etc. Possessing or using medical marijuana on a school bus, on the grounds of a preschool, primary school, high school or in a correctional facility Medicating on the premises of a dispensary Driving under the influence of marijuana (You can get a DUI.) The Arizona Medical Marijuana Act also does not: Medical Marijuana Effects The effects of medicinal marijuana vary from patient to patient based on strain and a person s unique tolerance. When it comes to strain, marijuana potency is a key factor. The intensity of each strain is affected by many things such as environment, genetics and care after harvest. For example, you might find a popular strain at one dispensary that contains 10 percent THC and you might find the same strain at a different dispensary that contains twice the amount of THC. Refer to the Cannabinoid/Medical Use chart for various compounds found in marijuana and what symptoms they relieve. Your patient service consultant will help you find the perfect combination of medicine. When should I medicate? How often you use medical marijuana will depend on how you ingest it, its potency, your condition and tolerance. Moderate your doses as you get started. For example, the effects of smoking or vaporizing medical cannabis are immediate but they generally do not last as long as consuming edibles because while digestion slows absorption it prolongs the effects. If you have a few bites of a marijuana edible and you don t feel anything, wait at least two hours before eating more to avoid over-medicating. Remember this golden rule. Authorize a person to undertake any task under the influence of marijuana that constitutes negligence or professional malpractice Require a government medical assistance program or private health insurer to reimburse for costs associated with the use of medical marijuana Require the owner of private property to allow the use of marijuana on that property Require an employer to allow the ingestion of marijuana in the workplace

Why Herbal Wellness Center? The more you know, the more informed decisions you re able to make about your symptoms and treatment. We recommend you try a variety of strains, products and medications with the guidance of your HWC patient service consultant. What does it mean to be a true connoisseur? If you have had high quality marijuana before then you have definitely discovered there is a difference! Herbal Wellness Center s marijuana is premium, home-grown and high-quality medicine that you can tell apart from the competition. How to Spot Buds not Duds What to look for: 1. Trichomes (crystals) Quality shown in mixture of amber/milky white crystals Contains majority of cannabinoids 2. Moisture Quality marijuana should be free of excess moisture No wet grass or hay smell Quality marijuana should not be dry or crumble 3. Stems & Seeds Your flower should be free of stems and seeds 2 4. Color & Smell Healthy marijuana contains hues of green, purple, red and orange If it s brown put it down The aroma should be pleasantly pungent The absence of any smell can mean old or improperly grown marijuana 5. Hairs Should be orange to light red Very dark brown hairs indicate old marijuana

Side Effects and Contraindications The potency of a given strain can cause varying degrees of side effects including: dry eyes and mucous membranes, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, sedation and anxiety. Avoid using medical marijuana on the job, when operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery or caring for children as impairment can occur. Marijuana can interact with alcohol, prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs and supplements causing increased side effects, nausea, sedation and other impairments. Researchers have not explored the entirety of the interactions so use caution and consult your physician before combining marijuana with any medication or supplement. Patient Log Rate your pain or symptoms using a 1-10 scale, with 1 meaning minimal pain or symptom presentation and 10 being the worst. Note the dose, time, frequency, effects and side effects of your consumption. Type Strain Effects If you experience any of these side effects or contraindications contact your physician or certifying medical marijuana doctor.when reporting your marijuana consumption to your caregiver or physician, report your use in grams, not the number of hits or dabs. Your physician may ask you for your height, weight, consumption, current medications and more to discover the recommended mg/kg dose for your specific symptoms. Like any substance abuse can occur. Moderation of your medical marijuana use is recommended. If you notice changes in your appetite, sudden weight loss or weight gain or dependency cease your medical marijuana use and contact your physician. See below for several substance abuse centers in Arizona: St. Luke s Behavioral Center: Liberation Center: Springboard Recovery: The Sober Lining:
