2 Dear Grand Masters, Masters, and Instructors, Greetings! We are excited to announce (TSUSTF) is hosting a Kukkiwon Cup Tournament on Saturday, at Lakepoint Sporting Center, a spacious 180,000 sq.ft. facility, in Emerson, Georgia. TSUSTF was formed 25 years ago as a non-profit organization to serve the Taekwondo community, as well as the greater local communities. This year, TSUSTF is honored to be working exclusively with St. Jude Children s Research Hospital to help raise money and awareness for a worthy cause. A leader in treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, they provide vital treatment, free of charge, to thousands of children who may not, otherwise, receive the needed and often expensive care required. The Kukkiwon Cup Tournament is one of the main events benefiting St. Jude. 100% of the tournament profits will be donated to St. Jude. We are kindly asking our extended Taekwondo families and local community members to join together to help us make this worthy fundraising event successful. Your participation in the event, whether monetary or volunteer-based, will be a great contribution to St. Jude and a testimony to the spirit and tenets of martial arts. The Kukkiwon Cup Tournament is open to Taekwondo students of all levels and ages. Sparring competitors will have the option of choosing Level 1 or Level 2 competition. Level 1 Competition: designed for beginners and non-experienced students by not allowing head contact for any age or rank Level 2 Competition: designed for students who want to compete with head contact allowed regardless of age and rank We also offer two classifications in the forms competition. Traditional form competition is for students who are not prepared for sport poomsae rules and regulations while sport poomsae competition follows USAT rules. Participating in the competition will not only support a great cause, but it is also a good opportunity for Taekwondo students to apply their skills and experience competition in a safe and fun environment. We ll also be accepting donations for those who would like to help, but are unable or not interested in competing. Together, we can transform the world and help provide much needed care to children in need. 5 EVENT GENERAL INFORMATION Qualifications: All practitioners must be 4 and older, and all ranks including White Belts who have trained and understand the Kukkiwon Taekwondo competition rules. 8 SPARRING RULES This championship is sponsored by Dae do Scoring system. Every competitor in this championship will be using E-Chest Guard (E-Hogu) with the Dae do system. We are implementing e-hogu for the entire championship to have the fairest judgement in competition and to increase the quality of the tournament. In order for everyone to use the e-hogu system, all competitors are required to wear e-socks. Level 1 Competitors: Dae do will be lending E-socks for the competition free of charge only to 7- year-olds and under and only level 1 competitors. Competitors 8-years-old and older and only in level 1 must rent e-socks at $10 per pair or purchase at $65 per pair. Rented and borrowed e-sock must be returned back to the Dae do rental stations immediately after your last round. Level 2 Competitors: All competitors must have a pair of e-socks regardless of age and rank. No renting available. You can purchase on-site at $65 per pair. Sparring Level 1 o No head contact is allowed for all ages and all ranks including black belts. Please apply level 1 if you don t want to have head contact. o Other than head contact, the current Kukkiwon competition rules will be applied (USA Taekwondo Jr. safety rules). Sparring Level 2 o Head contact is allowed for all ages and all ranks including White Belts and younger students. o The current Kukkiwon competition rules will govern this level. All color belts 1-minute x 2 rounds. All s 90 seconds x 2 rounds (30 second rest time). 12 Rules 2016 KUKKIWON CUP BOARD BREAKING All student must order the boards online at the time of registration Number of boards needed o White Yellow Belts must order 3 boards. o Green Blue Belts must order 4 boards. o Red Belts must order 5 boards. o All s must order 5 boards Board sizes (all students will have given sizes according to their age) o 4 10 years old: demo boards o years old: teen boards o 18 and up: adult boards Students are NOT allowed to bring their own boards. All color belt students will have assigned breaking techniques and one technique of their own choice. Board set up time cannot be exceeded more than 30 seconds. Chair, people, and any other stepping objects are not allowed to use. All students will be given up to 2 chances to break each board. 13 DEMO COMPETITION Demo Team registration deadline is on Saturday, Sep. 17, 2016, No registration will be accepted after Sep. 17 th. Demo Competition Rules o Team member must be minimum of 10 students and more o Total performance time must be 7 minutes or less o Maximum set up time is 1 minute o Fireworks, flame breaks, and real weapons are prohibited in the performance. o Small pyrotechnics on demo boards are allowed. o Team member must be organized with students only, not masters, instructors nor intern-students. o Everyone in your demo team must be registered as the first individual event. o Music can be used with performance (please call (770) for compatible music source for the player. Ex. CD or MP3). o Each team must to bring their own boards and any other materials for the performance. Scoring Guidelines: Total 10 Points as perfect score o Point deduction for Accuracy, Speed, and Power (Maximum deduction point = 0.5 point) 0.1 point deduction on accuracy 0.1 point deduction on speed 0.1 point deduction on power o Point deduction for missing boards and any other breaking objects, 2 attempts maximum (Maximum deduction point = 0.5 point) 0.1 point deduction for every missing board or object o Point deduction for not showing excitement and fun generated by the team.
