2 SURVEY BASICS The 2013 AAA 3C Needs Assessment was conducted both in paper and electronically using a Survey Monkey tool posted at: The survey was opened for six weeks (April 1 st to May 17 th ) and promoted through the health department s website, news media and through lists. Paper surveys were distributed by local providers, collected and forwarded to AAA for input. The survey monkey tool web address was posted on the health department website. In addition, community, business and faith leaders and service providers were notified by . A news release regarding the survey availability was distributed to all Branch and St. Joseph media contacts. Respondents were assured that their survey responses were anonymous.

11 LEADING SERVICES AND SUPPORTS A list of 26 services and supports were provided. The list was based on Office of Services to the Aging s list of Standardized Services. Respondents were asked to rank them on a three point scale ranging from little need (1 point) to moderate need (2 points) to great need (3 points). No points were assigned for responses of Don t Know. A natural breaking point was observed between those that were highest need and those that were considered lower needs. Highest overall needs among all respondents ranged between 2.01 and 1.8 and include: Home Delivered Meals Homemaker Services Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) Home Repair Personal Emergency Response Courtesy of the Commercial News. 20 RESPONDENT COMMENTS I have received home making and escort (service) which is very important for me. If I did not, I could not live in my own home alone. I have also tried home delivered meals but had to give it up. I have problems with my salt and sugar intake being a diabetic #2. Meals were always on time and prepared nicely but wish I could find a way to tackle my sugar and salt "Meals on Wheels" have been great assistance as I continue to recover from a serious fall. We seniors need much more information on the help we can get. Especially concerning Medicare, partly the best and cheapest. Help getting set up in a good or excellent part-d plan. Also on a Medicare supplement we can afford - which is best for each of us. I have a vascular problem. My husband had his second stroke this year. His first one was 4 years earlier. He has had a nurse, a speech therapist, physical therapist, occupation therapist and a bath lady for about a month. We get meals on wheels. I feel guilty about that but it gives me time to go to Dr. visits. I had a bone break in the foot and needed home cleaning services. The gal lived close by in a near by town and came every other week. She helped me a great deal. She did whatever I needed done. I greatly appreciate the help until my foot became better. So I want to say a great bit thank you to everyone at C.O.A. for all the help. I cannot afford the services but am so grateful for them. We have been very satisfied with Blue Skies and the classes on caregiving. It has been very helpful to have some place RELIABLE that he can stay and enjoy himself. It helps me get away for a couple of hours. I use the transportation for going to work and home again. Nice way to go. Thanks again.
