Chapter 4 Moses is sent with Aaron back to Egypt to meet with the Elders as well as Pharaoh given a staff where he is able to do certain miracles at the Lord s direction people believe Moses and Aaron and that the Lord had recognized their affliction Chapter 5 begins the confrontation of Pharaoh Increases work for Israel who cry out against Moses No straw for bricks but the same amount of bricks Chapter 6 reiteration of calling Chapter 7-11 the Plagues

4 Each of the Plagues were actually a direct confrontation of gods that the Egyptians worshiped God was revealing to Pharaoh and the Egyptian people that He is the God of all gods He is also establishing Himself as the Savior, the I AM, to Israel Exodus 7:1 6 Then the Lord said to Moses, See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. 2 You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh s heart that I may multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. 4 When Pharaoh does not listen to you, then I will lay My hand on Egypt and bring out My hosts, My people the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt by great judgments. 5 The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from their midst. 6 So Moses and Aaron did it; as the Lord commanded them, thus they did. Pharaoh s heart hardened a direct result of Pharaoh s decision NOT to listen to the Lord and the Lord then turning Pharaoh over to his choice First Sign Rod into a serpent 7.1ff 7.8ff - the rod of Aaron turning into a serpent which the magicians did as well the Aarons staff swallowed the staff of the Egyptians

So he said, May it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God. Exodus 8:13 15 The Lord did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died out of the houses, the courts, and the fields. 14 So they piled

6 them in heaps, and the land became foul. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as the Lord had said. 3) The plague of Gnats, most likely lice 8.16ff From the dust of the ground Set god of the desert Vs. 18 the magicians are not able to duplicate this plague and tell Pharaoh in 8.19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God. But Pharaoh s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said. 4) Plague of flies 8.20ff Re the sun god Uatchit possibly a rep of the fly o Only on the Egyptians NOT on Israel there is a separation between the Lord people in the land of Goshen and the Egyptians Pharaoh agreed to let Israel make sacrifice to the Lord within the land but would not agree to let them leave Egypt to do so after pharaoh promised to let Israel go three days into the wilderness to make sacrifice was the plague of the flies removed However Exodus 8: The Lord did as Moses asked, and removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants and from his people; not one remained. 32 But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he did not let the people go.

Change brought by the Lord the plagues would now intensify Exodus 9:13 17 Then the Lord said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh and say to him, Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 14 For this time I will send all My plagues on you and your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth. 15 For if by now I had put forth My hand and

8 struck you and your people with pestilence, you would then have been cut off from the earth. 16 But, indeed, for this reason I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth. 17 Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go. 7) Plague of Hail 9.18ff Nut sky goddess Isiris god of crops and fertility Set god of storms Land of Goshen was not impacted Everyone, beast and man that was in the field was struck and killed by the hail.
